I was excited to eat at this highly rated establishment. When we arrived and the restraunt was empty on a sunny saturday afternoon. We ordered the bannock, game platter, salmon platter and the prawns. The bannock came first and it was baked. Which surprised me because from where I'm from (the Shuswap) bannock is deep fried, not baked. Which I... more

Every year I have lunch and learns at Legal Services Society in June, for National Aboriginal History Month. Lunch is provided to all staff that attend, and every year the staff are very pleased with the food catered by Salmon and Bannock. This year we are having my favourite, the wild boar sandwiches for one of the lunch and learns... more
Salmon n' Bannock were very accommodating to our large group and we had a set menu with our food served family style. This worked really well. The portions were generous and there was more than enough to go around. All the food was flavourful and perfectly cooked especially the salmon! I also really loved the wild rice and the fruit... more
I had read the reviews regarding this restaurant and thought my husband and I would give it a try. At the recommendation of the owner we shared an order for pulled boar sandwich and one salmon n' bannock. Both were great, as were the sweet potato wedges. Since it was thirsty Thursday we also each had a beer.
Very enjoyable!...

My husband and I had this restaurant on our list to dine at while visiting Vancouver. Chef, Shauna did a marvellous job in preparing our appetizer which was the salmon soup, it tasted just like her grandmothers, and is a must have. The seafood dishes were excellent too and the cozy atmosphere added to the experience. Hats off to the... more
This is an excellent, family-friendly, gourmet restaurant that offers a nice break from the traditional French-Italian or Japanese cuisine. I was with a big group of friends from three different countries and I was afraid that I might have made an unwise choice, but each and everyone of them found something they liked, from salmon to game meat.
All servings...

I loved the salmon platter and butternut squash apple soup. The service was amazing. I was further impressed by the menu which offered unique delicacies not found at other restaurants, as well as coming from First Nation communities. I would certainly return!
I don't know why anyone would miss this experience. I have been to Canada dozens of times and never found a First Nation restaurant like this one before - maybe I wasn't looking hard enough. This is a small storefront in a pretty busy area but inside it's peaceful and artistic. The bannock - a white bread that struck me... more
Went here on a friend's recommendation — did not disappoint!
Started with warm bannock (gluten free option available), had bison w mushrooms & prawn on mashed potatoes; my date had wild salmon on chanterelle, oat & wild rice risotto.
The bison cut like butter, sincerely the best meat I've ever tasted — pink in the centre and seared to perfection...

We hadn't known that there was a restaurant serving native cuisine in Vancouver since Muckamuck closed many years ago. So it was a delight to find this fine little restaurant on Broadway, a block west of Cambie.
We had sockeye salmon (of course), salad and bannock. The salmon was served on a chanterelle, oat and wild rice risotto and was...

We tried to get here a couple of times, but it is best to reserve a seat. It's quite popular. Awesome selection of food which you won't find in other restaurants. The waitress was really helpful and patient, explaining everything, so we were able to make a good choice.
This was by far the worst meal of our trip, it was highly recomended by a friend that lives here. I do not know if it was a bad day for teh cheff, but all the food tasted awful, to much salt in everything, the service was horrible too. we actually send at least 75 % of our food back,... more
A small restaurant but there was a steady stream of people who lingered over their meals. We were a party of six and we took our time selecting our meals. We had the pleasure of eating here during Dine Out Vancouver, and even though we got a great deal for 3 courses... the food was priceless! We had a wonderful time there. The service is very personal and helpful with explaining the menu. We had both wonderful dishes, prepared with love and nicely decorated. It was a great experience to visit the restaurant and having a taste of native food and art. If you are in Vancouver, don’t miss this unique restaurant.
It is Vancouver Dine Out Festival again and this time we decided to try this local cuisine restaurant. We had two families of 8 people and were arranged in a comfortable corner although the restaurant is very small that can only accommodate approx. 24 seats. The service was good and waitresses were attentative.
We almost tried everything from Dine-Out menu....

What a wonderful meal we had last might at this excellent and exciting restaurant. The food and wine was all local, fresh and Native Canadian Indian. This was a big family get together and we could not have asked for better food or service.
Don't be fooled by this very simple decorated restaurant. The food and its presentation is extraordinary, and the taste is fantastic. Try the musk ox soup and appetizer. Yummy!
The food at Salmon n' Bannock is excellent! We had the game platter to start, which was incredible! The musk ox was phenomenal!!! We then had the bison and the elk. Both were exceptional. The food here is from local and American Indian (Russel Means says that anyone born in America is a Native American, and that he is an American Indian) sources. I really miss Lilliget Feast House (formerly on Davie near Denman, closed for years now) and was heartbroken when they closed, so I was so happy when I saw Salmon 'n' Bannock open a couple of years ago. I went for lunch to this restaurant with a friend who has been there before. The decor is humble, so I was a little underwhelmed at first. Then the food came.
