Get a load of this. A non-profit restaurant run entirely by volunteers with all proceeds going to community organizations and local charity groups. And it's good. Really good. Seasonal organic Quebec produce is lovingly thrown into comfort food concoctions like black beer and buckwheat honey pork spareribs, with caramelized garlic and parsnip purée and spicy red cabbage salad or anis-scented... plus
Robin des Bois is a classy-rustic restaurant on the Main. Its unique as its set-up as a non-profit where the profits go to 4 local charities for local youth, women & poor. The kitchen is manned by full-time employees, while the wait-staff are mostly volunteer.
They have a brief menu ..... but all the food is prepared with wholesome organic...

What a wonderful restaurant; good food, beautiful décor, super service and all the profits, including tips, going to designated charities. Why don't other restaurants follow suit?
We had a lovely meal which was no more expensive than others in the area [about 20 dollars a head, special offer] with attentive service. The concept of giving to charity was explained fully...

This was my first experience with this kind of restaurant (I didn't know that they even existed). But we were very well taken care of by our waiter (a senior manager of Siemens), who did an excellent job in explaining the concept (and showed great potential for an alternative career in the restaurant business :-). My impression was also that... plus
I had dinner at Robin des Bois once during a short visit to Montreal (if it had been longer I would have been back more than once, certainly). This is a non-profit restaurant, supported by sponsors, where the staff are volunteers (and the service was among the best I experienced in Montreal) and the profits go to charitable organizations. A... plus
I had the lentil soup, a vegetarian meal that was delicious (rice, lentils, and veg) followed by a great lime dessert. I eat well and all profits to to charity. I will return.
Service was overall quite good. Atmosphere relaxed but ecclectically upscale.
Inspired, tempting menu, very well-executed. Bit pricy for the wine by the glass, but
knowing all profits go to local, appreciated charities softened that pill. Great for small or
larger groups. They even offer a summer day camp for 10-13 yr olds! Will have to go back
when there's live...

Warm welcome and piano player and singer on this Wednesday evening. Good food and always pleasant waiters.
Firstly, Robin des bois is a great concept. All profits go to local charities and most of the waitstaff and kitchen staff are volunteers. My mom came into town the other night and we were looking for a good place to go for dinner. Happened to be in the area, and we decided to try out RDB to see how... plus
Robin de Bois is a not-for-profit restaurant, staffed almost exclusively by volunteers. The food is more than average, but if you want to contribute to a good cause, it's the place to go. The food is prepared by a team of professionals supported by volunteers.
what struck me first was the lively atmosphere, really convivial! we sat at the bar to eat and felt very comfortable enjoying the hustle and bustle. the food was first rate - there was only one vegetarian main course but it was perfectly executed (not as an after thought as in some places). there was a half portion option which... plus
The restaurant relies upon the voluntary work of its employees and the profit is given back to the community through charitable organizations. Maybe for this reason I wasn't expecting too much, but I was pleasantly surprised by this restaurant! It actually looks fancy and has a warm atmosphere. On the night I was there, there was also live (lounge) music.... plus
Brilliant Cause, the restaurant is a non-profit that helps support various local charities. The employees are supported by volunteers. Nice decor & lovely atmosphere, with live music in the evening. A Bistro type menu, I had the bavette which was excellent, the meat was tender & juicy served with home made fresh french fries & a arugula salade with parmesan cheese... plus
My sister and I ate here on a recent trip through Montreal. It was a pleasant relief from the over priced restaurants in old town. My sister had the duck confit, which was delicious. I had tilipia ceviche who've was equally as appetizing. Overall this is a wonderful restaurant, and the fact their proceeds go to charity only adds to... plus
Delicious food, great concept, varied menu. We went with a party of 8 and everyone loved the food. Highly recommended!
Apart from the manager and the chef, the staff are volunteers and enthusiastic about what they do, even if they make some mistakes our are a but disorganized.
The food is very tasty, well prepared and ample servings. They prepare many of their dishes with "in season" produce which makes for interesting dishes.
In additon to all this, the resto is a non-profit that helps support local charities. The employees are supported by volunteers and the service is very good because everyone aims to please.
Reservations recommended, especially...

In mid-August 2011 I went to Robin des bois with a large group of ladies for our friend's bachelorette weekend. The service was decent and the food was, too--except for one glaring error.
Robin des bois had, on its dessert menu, a decadent-looking item marked as GLUTEN-FREE. Being allergic to wheat, I was thrilled! It was some kind of dark...

My favorite restaurant in Montreal. Not only is it for a good cause, its good value for price, the creative and delicious menu is consistently wonderful. The serving staff makes the place really distinct as well - each time I come, the staff have shared a bit of their often fascinating stories (without ever being over-present or intrusive) and are enthusiastic. Enjoying a night out in a place... plus
If you must go, eat first. This restaurant has the worst service of any I've been to in years. We got there at 7 and didn't get bread or a chance to order until 8:45. The food is fine, but I nearly ran out for a chicken sandwich.
Went here with a few other ladies (various ages). To start, the atmosphere is lovely. There is a cute little table right aside a little piano that would be a GREAT date seat. The server we had was very helpful (had some menu questions) and a pleasure to be served by. The food was fabulous. I had a vegetarian risotto... plus
I discovered this gem a few weeks ago and I really enjoyed it. They have various shows on different days of the week, which is great. The food is amazing and they have vegetarian options, which is always a plus. The prices are very reasonnable.
Nobody who 'works' there actually gets paid, it's a non-profit restaurant and actually all profits...

The concept "Robin des bois" is so special, food is really nice French/fusion. All dishes are so good with nice wine. Atmosphere is so welcoming. Staff and volunteers who work at this restaurant are amazing.
Can't miss desserts!
Good for casual dinner with friends, special dinner with SO.
Must try this restaurant. I just love this place.
Great food, great atmosphere, great service. And it's non-profit! Support a good cause and get a great, reasonable dinner at it.
Bright space, with a market-driven menu & many non-meat dishes, that donates all of its profits.
Robin des Bois is a unique, concept-driven restaurant where most of the staff are volunteers, and proceeds of your bill go to local charities. The owners were driven by the desire to resolve community issues by giving back to those in need. The restaurant serves lunch and evening dinners, typically French. The waiters and waitresses may be accountants or bus drivers for their day-job. The... plus
