Robin des Bois is a classy-rustic restaurant on the Main. Its unique as its set-up as a non-profit where the profits go to 4 local charities for local youth, women & poor. The kitchen is manned by full-time employees, while the wait-staff are mostly volunteer.

What a wonderful restaurant; good food, beautiful décor, super service and all the profits, including tips, going to designated charities. Why don't other restaurants follow suit?

This was my first experience with this kind of restaurant (I didn't know that they even existed). But we were very well taken care of by our waiter (a senior manager of Siemens), who did an excellent job in explaining the concept (and showed great potential for an alternative career in the restaurant business :-). Tasty meal, good cause

I had the lentil soup, a vegetarian meal that was delicious (rice, lentils, and veg) followed by a great lime dessert. I eat well and all profits to to charity. I will return.

Great cause, great food, great ambiance

Service was overall quite good. Atmosphere relaxed but ecclectically upscale.
Inspired, tempting menu, very well-executed. Bit pricy for the wine by the glass, but
knowing all profits go to local, appreciated charities softened that pill. Great for small or

Great restaurant

My sister and I ate here on a recent trip through Montreal. It was a pleasant relief from the over priced restaurants in old town. My sister had the duck confit, which was delicious. Apart from the manager and the chef, the staff are volunteers and enthusiastic about what they do, even if they make some mistakes our are a but disorganized.

The food is very tasty, well prepared and ample servings. They prepare many of their dishes with "in season" produce which makes for interesting dishes.
In additon to all this, the resto is a non-profit that helps support local charities. The employees are supported by volunteers and the service is very good because everyone aims to please.

In mid-August 2011 I went to Robin des bois with a large group of ladies for our friend's bachelorette weekend. The service was decent and the food was, too--except for one glaring error.
Robin des bois had, on its dessert menu, a decadent-looking item marked as GLUTEN-FREE. Being allergic to wheat, I was thrilled! It was some kind of dark... plus

My favorite restaurant in Montreal. Not only is it for a good cause, its good value for price, the creative and delicious menu is consistently wonderful. The serving staff makes the place really distinct as well - each time I come, the staff have shared a bit of their often fascinating stories (without ever being over-present or intrusive) and are enthusiastic. If you must go, eat first. This restaurant has the worst service of any I've been to in years. We got there at 7 and didn't get bread or a chance to order until 8:45. The food is fine, but I nearly ran out for a chicken sandwich.

Great Restaurant with a Admirable Concept

Went here with a few other ladies (various ages). To start, the atmosphere is lovely. There is a cute little table right aside a little piano that would be a GREAT date seat. Great food, fun atmosphere and non-profit

I discovered this gem a few weeks ago and I really enjoyed it. They have various shows on different days of the week, which is great. The food is amazing and they have vegetarian options, which is always a plus. The prices are very reasonnable.
Nobody who 'works' there actually gets paid, it's a non-profit restaurant and actually all profits... plus

THE ONLY ONE in the world

The concept "Robin des bois" is so special, food is really nice French/fusion. All dishes are so good with nice wine. Atmosphere is so welcoming. Staff and volunteers who work at this restaurant are amazing.
Can't miss desserts!
Good for casual dinner with friends, special dinner with SO.
