This restaurant consistently serves the most delicious ribs I have tasted. The atmosphere is relaxing and comfortable while the service is friendly and professional. All this comes together to create a very enjoyable outing. A little pricey but if you want the best this is where you go.
We enjoyed every bite. The portions were huge and the service was friendly and efficient.
the food is excellent however i must say that the staff at this particular restaurant are a bit discriminant to the young adult crowd. they are treated less than mature crowd in service and courtesy. In one of my 2 experiences, we were being rushed once i food arrived. how do you expect to be rewarded for poor customer service. A customer is a customer, no matter what age group they're from. They have good for but poor customer service.
Bon restau! Service très dévoué et les plats sont bien cuisinés
Un bon ptit souper entre amis et familles... Délicieux, rien d'autre a dire!! :)
Je suis un amateur de ribs et à mon avis il est inutile d'essayer d'en trouver de meilleurs. Bar B Barns arrive deuxième au palmarès.
Le rapport qualité prix est excellent. Seul le système de réservation laisse à désirer.

Best fall off the bone ribs i have had in a long time.Great service and we sat on the patio which we liked. Lots of action in the festival area watching the people go by
We enjoyed a dessert which was great
Just recently had the Lobster poutine and wow! I've had a few lobster poutines and this one is by far the best! If you like lobster and poutine it's a must! But portion is huge for entrée. Could be a meal on it's own.
Excellent atmosphere for an intimate or group dinner. Bring your appetite! We loved all of the entries .....especially the seafood.
This place is a frequent lunch stop. The service is fast and the food hot and tasty. Can't go wrong with the BBQ... The location is pretty convenient too, especially if you're at the jazz festival
My wife and I dropped in to take a break from shopping. We had desserts, coffee and a glass of wine each. The service was a bit confused but turned out well in the end. The cheese cake was excellent.
Food was good, atmosphere was nice but a little overpriced. My dinner consisted of a hamburger, glass of wine and nachos. All were prepared well and satisfactory. Prices are a bit high for the type of food.
I am (tempted to say i was) a repeat customer at this franchise even if the food is not creative nor spectacular but honest for the price (18 dollars salad to me is a bit rich already if nothing special). Wine by the glass is also on the expensive side but there is a patio...so i would probably bite the... more
Excellent place , food great ambience and service very good ,people very friendly ,is a big restaurant with good bar area , really nice place
I will rate it very good because of the great ribs I was served, the meat really falls off the bone, they are great. Service is just average and the place is a little bit too dark. Last but not least, everything is pricey.
Almost no vegetarian options, service somewhat slow and inattentive, all in all we wished we'd gone elsewhere.
Was just there this past weekend and ate there before the concert. Great location next to the Bell Center. They do offer a very limited menu on event nights. But the system works well. Food was good and very large portions. All around good choice.
The place and menu looks good from the outside. The only pro is that the service was decent. I ordered ribs, and although they tasted okay they were barely warm. Same with the mashed potatoes, which tasted like an instant brand. The food came out literally within 5 minutes of sitting down which shows how premade everything was. Definitely not... more
The Baton Rouge is centrally located, half-a-block from the Decarie Expressway. They advertise their ribs (and they are delicious) but I prefer seafood. The arctic char was done to perfection. The servers are courteous and helpful. If you are hoping for a quieter atmosphere, this is not the place for you Friday or Saturday evenings. Early to mid-week, the sound... more
I have been to Baton Rouge a few times but only once to this particular location. In my opinion there is nothing special about the Baton Rouge chain. It provides average service, venue and food quality. I typically visit Baton Rouge when I need to change up the restaurants I visit. It’s never disappointing by any means but it also... more
I went with my whole family and it was great. December 30, 2013 Everything is so good and fast service! :) I loved their sweet potato French fries.
We went last night to this restaurant and found the service to be as patchy as the food. My wife declared her steak, served Pittsburgh style, to be great, but the french fries, were soggy and reminded one of those horrible frozen things best avoided. I ate Pasta Primavera, a dish so tasteless it could have come in a box... more
I've been to Baton Rouge at several locations in Montreal and on the South Shore and what is their problem with cooking a simple french fry?? I can get hot, crispy, properly cooked fries at McDonalds for $1.00 ! So why don't any of the Baton Rouge locations know how to cook a simple french fry so that it comes to... more
They actually served us those dehydrated instant potatoes under the guise of real mashed potatoes.
I am very familiar with those dehydrated mashed potatoes as i exist on them.
Also, you can't see anything out the windows covered with massive exterior blinds.
there`s a good time to come here, get seated at the bar and get no service, get seated at a table and get service but no food, sorry I paid anyway, both time, the place totally empty. Go figure.
Ribs are excellent - best you will ever eat. No fingers required, they are so tender they fall off the bone.
We had been already at some Baton Rouge and the impression was good. We had the lunch at this one at Sainte-Catherine, Montreal and the impression was bad. The restaurant was not crowed and we thought it was to be bank holiday but now we don´t know. In fact the food, this means steak very dry and salad, were not... more
Restaurant was full when I arrived with no reservation. They told me 20 minutes for a table. It was almost 5. I placed an order at my leisure and it was served in less than 10. Ribs were average. No Tabasco sauce available. Baked potato was loaded and delicious. If you are in a hurry, this is your place.
We went with friends on a Friday for lunch. Surprisingly, the place was not too busy, even though it is located in busy St. Catherine street. The service was excellent. The cream soup was very good. As for the authenticity of New Orleans food, it did not even come close. However, the portion was very large; and we enjoyed good... more
Went to the St Johns road location, Ambiance was pleasant, service was quick and good, Our party of 4 ordered from the lunch menu, every one enjoyed their food and drinks, nothing stood out as overly exceptional except perhaps the ribs, desserts were more than enough, bill with tip came to $150 , Its an OK restaurant that i cant think... more
Went for dinner with my husband, the in-laws, & my 2 year old. It's August, it's really nice to seat & eat at outdoor in Montreal. Went for a late evening meal. The service was poor and the quality of food was below average. A large salad, Ribs with a side Caesar salad, 2 beer $91.00. Not worth the money. We ate here because it was close to our hotel. Will walk somewhere else next time.
We were 2 couples and had a terrible experience with the server Michel . First we got our food before our drinks . The food was not good and we had to get our own knife and fork to eat because the server was no where to be found all the time we were there and he was very rude... more
Ate as a group of 18 and we were served chicken tenders that were all batter and very little chicken and burgers like hockey pucks! They were not ready for us for our 8pm reservation and tried to reserve us dinner after we were done with dessert! Didn't have a clue!
First time at this restaurant. Went during the long weekend.(Canada Day) There was a Jazz Festival at the time. The lineup was really bad for dinner time. Waited an hour to get a table in the patio. The good thing was that they served drinks while you were waiting in line. The waiter were kind. The food was really good, I had the crispy chicken salad with a side of fries.
Overall, it was an...

The pork back ribs are really good. Succulent and juicy meat covered in their own barbercue sauce. The location is right at the heart of downtown Montreal. Some drawbacks however is that somehow the menu in Montreal is more limited than the Baton Rouge in downtown Toronto. All in all it is still a great place with awesome food!
excellent food, loved the steak, waiters recommendations are amazing, very accommodating, menu has a lot of things that look delicious, very nice ambiance, just loved it
Why did we go back?
Last year we were at the Montreal Jazz Festival and needed to eat. We were not impressed with the food or prices. The location is perfect for enjoying festival music and the beer is not incredibly overpriced, but nearly $20 for a shrimp caesar salad was excessive.
We went back this year because it was late and most places had closed. The chicken tenders were overly breaded...

The food is ok but I think if they were to cut their portions down and cut their prices as well it would be a better value. I find you get way too much food and end up leaving a huge chunk of it behind. It's also a little on the pricey side for what it is. The ribs are pretty good though as is the burger. I also find the noise level to be too high in this location making it hard to enjoy... more
Came in late on a Wednesday night about 30 min before closing. This was not my first choice as I was hoping to try some authentic French montreal food. Unfortunately most closed by 10 pm.
It was late and I didn't want a big meal. Server suggested ribs or a salad but these were fairly large portions so I went with the appetizer portion of chicken tenders and an iced tea. The ice tea came in a...

Great food, but probably a bit overpriced. I had the filet mignon and it was just average compared to other restaurants. Nice atmosphere; good location.
We celebrated a birthday. We were a group of 15. we ordered some entrées and and we ordered the ribs at 16$.When we arrived we were asked if we wanted a drink. All in all a decent place. Service can be hit or miss. Food is good but generic. Better values can be found throughout Montreal
We were a group of about 20 when we stopped for lunch at this restaurant. We occupied two larger tables and one smaller one. Very good ribs, they are so tender and delicious. I found their recipe on the web and I can't wait to try it. Sandwiches and french fries are good picks also. It's better to go there when you are really starving because the portions are pretty generous.
Coming into Montréal after a long train ride, this was the most appealing of the few places that were still open around 10pm on a Thursday. Located right across the street from the Museum of Contemporary Art and Opera House, we were expecting inflated prices and sub par food. Well, we were only half wrong. You'll notice the warm wood decor and ambiance with an elevate area for large groups or... more
I find Baton Rouge to be overpriced and their menu either hasn't changed in years, or the changes they've made are just not appealing to me. This place is ok if you are looking for a nice place with family food. A little expansive for what it is but It will do the job. The menu of the day is sometime goog and it is not on the menu. Ask for it. The bar is nice and separeted from the dinning area. They have live band... more
Just a block from the Bell Center where the Canadians play, Baton Rouge has very nice decor and atmosphere. I ordered their baby back ribs and they were excellent. No-surprise, fast-food fare with a southern filip. Portions are gigantic but nothing stands out as extraordinarily tasty. Fried foods predominate. Go thee: portions are big, food is good, order ribs: they are the best! Fries are good, sauce is good as well. Nice setting so that you can talk if you are two, and discuss if you are 7.
We went there for supper in December 2012 after the last performance of the Casse-Noisette (The Nutcracker) at the nearby concert hall of Place des Arts. The restaurant is accessible from the concert hall underground; we did not need to go out in the freezing winter chill. There is free parking (with purchase of over $50), which made it even... more
Possibly the worst meal I've ever eaten on Montreal. But it's my own fault. I should have known that a chain restaurant decorated by marquis de Sade circa 1973 would not really be able to tickle my palate or offer transcendence. But I thought that they could at least serve something edible. The potato soup was grainy and pasty, a... more
Over rated for simple food. The service was very slow. I felt ignored when I order non-alcoholic drinks. Staff was not friendly. They want to move you out as soon as possible.

Frankly I was just disappointed with Baton Rouge.
In sequence:
- the Manhattan I ordered was watery and weak
- the spinach dip was not cooked thoroughly and when it was taken back, they returned it after only reheating it in the microwave
- the staff was cool but not overwhelming, especially with several occasions to provide good customer service
- the filet was good, but not prime quality

We are from New York visiting Montreal for the first time, staying at the Hyatt. Hello Opinionated Ones,
I happen to have eaten in the finest establishments in North America and most of Europe too (although I do enjoy garbage like McDonald's from time to time like the rest of us) and I can safely say - with confidence to boot! - that the Baton Rouge, Quartier Des Spectacles, is run by the hardest working perfectionists in Montreal, but sometimes, especially during a...

This is a chain that is way overpriced with poor to moderate quality food. The salad with chicken I had was horrible. My husband's seared tuna seemed rancid. It was a huge waste of money.

Great service, our waiter was amazing! Amazing food! Everyone at my table said it was the best they had ever had. Will definitely be going back here when I'm back in Montreal!
Took my aunt who was visiting internationally. She ordered barbeque chicken and it was the absolute driest ever had only smothered with a bit of BBQ sauce after grilling. My fries were soggy and when I asked for lettuce for my burger, they brought a warm wilty piece of romain lettuce on a plate. I promised myself never to go back. Also their cocktails aren't great.
I only go there when I feel like having steaks. The pan-fried Ahi Tuna is also very delicious. Everything is well cooked, and tastes nice (except their chicken breast, extremely dry and badly seasoned). The service is great, although I think the place is just slightly overpriced. It is a typical steakhouse in downtown.
My favorite restaurant in town! Service is amazing and their ribs and cote de boeuf are just mouth watering!! Mmm!!! Cant wait to go back!!
Depsite the student protests and the crowds from the Grande Prix. My boyfriend and I received fabulous service and the food was outstanding!
So I am a fan of Baton Rouge, but really, it's pretty generic. A little overpriced for what it is, but it is consistent. It's a good place to go with a big group of people, but honestly for the price you are better off going to a smaller steakhouse in the plateau that has a little more charm. I still give it 4 stars because it really is not bad, it's just kinda standard.
Me and my girlfriend were up for a Bruins vs. Habs game weekend, and decided on this location for dinner the first night.
I'm happy to say that it didn't disappoint. When we arrived, around 6pm, the hostess told us that there would be about a half-hour wait. So we put our name in and grabbed a couple seats at the bar. We got a round of drinks and had a very nice conversation with a couple that...

Baton Rouge has the best ribs ever! These mouth watering ribs fall off the bone. They are cooked over night, and basted with the sauce. You will never forget ribs like this. The Louisiana BBQ Chicken is another favourite if you are not in the mood for ribs.
Has an appetizer the homemade spinach dip is amazing and can be a meal, so try not to overdose on it no matter how addicting it is!
This has been a terrible experience. First thing of, I was not pleased with the fact that they did not have the wine of my choice. Second, the waiter was very inexperienced. He was very unprofessional. He gave us the wrong order and never tried to give an appropriate explanation to his mistake, and clamed that we ordered was what he brought. Charged extra for a side, half of which was taking away.
RIBS RIBS RIBS!!! Apparently this is the place to go for ribs. I'll have to give it to them, it was juicy and falling off the bone. But it wasn't flavorful or saucy enough. We had to ask the waiter to bring more sauce, but by the time he got it for us we were almost half way done.
I got the porterhouse Pittsburgh style, which was quite delicious. The sides are huge. I opted out of the butter...

Food was ok. Maybe average to slightly above average depending on the item. But the price seemed a little steep. It could be that I'm still not totally used to the higher price of food in Montreal compared to the US, but still, it seemed a little too much for the quality. I went there because someone else picked the restaurant, but I'd probably try to avoid this place in the future.
Excellent service and very good food. The best food we've had in Montreal. We ate dinner on 12/23/10 and lunch on 12/24/10. I had BBQ pork ribs for dinner and Chicken Tenders for lunch.
It was an insane amount of food and I couldn't eat it all ... but it was good.
I'm in Montreal for a meeting tomorrow and didn't feel like going too far from my hotel for supper. It's been a while since I've been to a Baton Rouge.I ordered a glass of white wine and the Bâton Rouge Chicken Tenders Platter (signature chicken tenders made fresh to order, hand-battered and fried to golden perfection. I'm guessing that given the location of this particular chain restaurant & the previous reviews, that this branch is somewhat of tourist trap. Went for lunch and had a good experience. I sat out on the terrace and the service was good and the food was good and served rapidly. Even with the construction work going on across the street, the ambiance was good. It was perfect for a lunch on a work day.
Why the HUGE amount of BAD food? This place is gross I don't get the point why people like it here!!
Decent Ambiance if you like dark cellars, The steak was huge and portions even bigger. reasonably priced considering the tourist trap of a location.
Ate here this past weekend and while the food was still quite good the atmosphere paled in comparison to Ottawa's Baton Rouge's. Very very busy all night and very loud and distracting. Always having servers brushing past your table with dishes, both dirty or full. Also the service was very slow. Waited almost 45 minutes for our entree and over 20 minutes for a glass of water.
Working at the Desjardins Complexe, this is one of the 4-5 restaurants we can go without having to go outside (a great plus for our long winter months). In one word: inedible. I generally avoid chain restaurants that feel the need to advertise on television. I didn't want to go but we were meeting some people in the area who were at the Jazz Fest. Because of its convenient location overlooking Place Des Arts, it draws a lot... more
Located in the center of Montreal, Baton Rouge is a great place for dinner with co-workers. Dinner around 20$ per person. The service is fast and food is excellent. Reserve early !
Food during this visit was awful. Spinach dip appetizer was served cold, chips were stale. Salad was warm and made with low quality common greens. Chicken Tender platter was nothing but an odd batter with a few bits of chicken. Any comparison of this restaurant with ";American Cuisine"; or the restaurant Houstons is completely amiss and inappropriate. I'd avoid a visit to this establishment.
