Red chilli used to be my all time favorite chinese restaurant in Vancouver.
Today, I and my brother were in the area, and went back there. OMG! They increased their price min 40% to max 60%.
Their food quality was still there, but I dont think I would come again to have $14 pan fried green beans which is my fav menu of theirs. Bye bye Red Chilli..... =(
Delicious food, friendly service and an overall wonderful experience!
Every time I come home to Vancouver, I have to have the spicy szechuan chicken, because it is sooooooooo good. I can honestly have the entire dish to myself. The chicken is always tender and the sauce is a perfect blend of heat and sweet and sour mouthwatering goodness. (In Chinese, it's called "kou shui ji", which literally translates to "saliva chicken." Ya see what I mean? Soo good.) The... more
This is our go-to place for Chinese food for delivery. We haven't visited the restaurant so can't comment on the service, but the food is some of the best we've had in a long time. And we're British, we know good Chinese! (Ha, ha - but it's true!)
We usually get the sweet and sour boneless pork. So yummy!
Very friendly delivery driver and it's always faster delivery than estimated.
Highly...

Let me begin by saying the food here is actually really good. But I dine out a lot, and this place has THE RUDEST SERVICE of any restaurant I have ever been to! I understand that that is a harsh statement. But it's true! Here is what happened...
We sat down and ordered spicy wontons, lettuce wrap, and fried vegetables. The wontons arrived in 5 min, and were tasty. But from here things went...

Went for the lunch special, but the ginger beef barely had any beef in it. I think most of the thin slices were just batter and sauce.
I waited in line to pick up my take out order only to have people come in after me and be served before me. Total pet peeve. Return? Methinks not.
My wife and I ordered a delivery meal from Red Chilli a few nights ago. They were very busy, so delivery took about an hour - if you're hungry and need to eat right away, this restaurant currently doesn't have enough staff to suit your needs - but once the food arrived, it hit the spot. For Western-style Chinese food, though, I think overall there are better options in North Van for Chinese... more
Been there once long ago, when we heard people recommend it.
Honestly, I've been disappointed. I found it pretentious and overpriced, when what we had looked rather ordinary. It was like almost regular Chinese food twice the price. Because it's in a restaurant with "etiquette" (servers, chef etc).
From what I see in other reviews here, I understand they may be rather inconsistent, they may...

My wife and I have been getting takeout from this amazing restaurant for the last 5 years, and I have to say, even after trying out other similar restaurants, the consistency of their delicious food never disappoints.
You have to try their House Special Ginger Beef, and most everything else on their menu will impress. You have to try this...

I came here for their $9.99 lunch special that included 1 C rice, chicken (many styles to choose from) and hot and sour soup. My hot and sour soup was luke warm and terrible. They rolled their eyes when I requested it to be heated up. The broth thickens when cooled, therefore, having it hotter means a better broth, the way it should be served. The main dish was actually good and well portioned... more
This used to be our 'go to' restaurant in North Van. Today we were served a meal that included a large industrial staple in it. The response from the waiter was that he would show it to the chef. That's it! No apology...nothing! Thankfully, my husband didn't swallow it or break a tooth! There are many good restaurants in North Van. It makes me wonder what really happens in that kitchen!
Went with a large family group. Thy have a great menu of items. You can order spicy or not spicy. And you can also request no MSG. The food was delicious (we ordered 6 different dishes).
The beef lettuce wraps are superb. The chow mein noodles were cooked just right. The black bean sauce on the beef and broccoli was the best I have tasted.
I highly recommend this place, and will make a note...

We can not say enough about this restaurant. Upon reviewing the comments in Trip Advisor we were not sure what to expect. There is a negative undertone in a lot of the comments below yet our experience was that ever time we drove by, the restaurant was full. We recognize that comments could be staged or fake and posted by... more
Worst service i have ever encountered, even by Chinese restaurant standard. I've been here on several occasions and have yet to see the waitress or any of the staff smile once. The food is above average, but every time I go there, grumpiness and rudeness of the staff ruins it for me.
Really good. Really busy. Try to go early or late if possible. The staff are too busy to be super courteous as they're dealing with a loud, busy environment.
Thought I would give it a try as my regular Chinese place was closed for the week. My wife and I ordered a fried rice, almond chicken, honey garlic pork and sweet and sour pork. Fried rice was good. Other 3 dishes were horrible. I read the reviews before I ordered and the bad ones were accurate and I can... more
Been there several times over the last few years. Food is tasty keeping in mind that sweet dishes are orange in colour and syrupy in taste. Anything with soya might have variation in ingredients but will be similar taste. Service is efficient, they need to turn tables as it is a relative small place. Portions are adequate. Three dishes plus... more
This place is consistently the best Szechuan I have experienced anywhere. The food is terrific, the staff recognizes returning customers by predicting their order, the smallish room is quite pleasant and prices reflect reasonable value. I don't really like to tell anyone because I hate to share this place.
We enjoyed Red Chili twice LAST weekend and have dined here about 30 times in the last two years. It is small, nicely decorated, modern. We love the Ginger Beef, Singapore noodles, Prawns with chilies and peanuts. The deep fried Squid are excellent. Much of the food is red chili pepper hot. Delicious. We think this is the best Chinese... more
We find that the meals served at this restaurant are very good. They are all very flavourful and the presentation is excellent. While the portions are not large, they are good value for the price. You mush enjoy spicy Szechuan food if you come here. Favourites are the Spicy Wonton appetizer, Spring Rolls, Ginger Beef, Spicy Green Beans, Orange Peel... more
Ordered delivery as per everyone's advice. Over all pretty decent food. I really like ginger beef which is quite popular in Alberta but seems less known here but they had it here and it was pretty good. Prices seemed on par with most Chinese food I've had. Definitely better than your typical food court type Chinese. Had dinner for two (B) with a side of ginger beef, about $50. Egg rolls were... more
My first visit! Decor is modern and hip. Service is terrible and rude! The staff looks like they hate their job. I suspect despotic owner who drive his employees as slaves. No personal contact! Food was OK, fresh and lots of flavor, but not outstanding! My chicken dish was very oily, too many onions and celery! I had to look for the chicken! Little pricey for the value! No matter how many... more
I'd give it 3 stars if the food wasn't so inconsistent. Definitely fresh food, with lots of flavour. The problem is the excess oil, sugar, salt and thickening agents. We had 2 dishes that were VERY salty. One smelled burned and tasted off. When I told the waiter, he looked at me like there was something wrong with me.Took a sample back to the kitchen and returned saying 'it's okay, it's not... more
I love this place, I probably go here about once every couple weeks. We have been going there and they know us now, and the food is extremely good. Might be a tad more expensive than most, but its worth it.
Five of us went to this restaurant. I have lived in Asia for 11 years and I know Chinese food very well. At least twice a week we eat Chinese food at some restaurant outside and we cook Chinese cuisine at home. We ordered four plates of food plus a bucket of rice and the arrogant man in Black Uniform... more
So far so good. I have been looking for a new Szechuan restaurant in North Vancouver and found this place through Yelp. My mother and I went there for dinner and it was excellent.
We had no issues with the service, the speed or the quality of the food. I will most certain come back again.
I found the food delicious. Hot and sour soup and chicken chow mien with black bean sauce are my caves. And this last time the service was pleasant and great! One of my do do places to hit when I come to town.
One of my faces on the North Shore. Went back this weekend with friends who also frequent the restaurant. Good thing, as they broke us out of our mold as I must admit, we had gotten stuck in ordering our favourite dishes over and over. They have a simple formula, great food at a really reasonable price. My only complaint is that, like many Asian restaurants, the wine list is limited and... more
First time at this place, but not first time for this type of food, and when the orange chicken came to the table a weird smoky burnt smell take place. We always go here with the inlaws who are Chinese from Malasia and know good food!
We were the first 2 people in the restaurant for lunch and were greeted coldly by our server. We ordered our beverages and my husband's came right away, while mine came at the end of the meal. After ordering our lunch, my husband received his soup in about 5 minutes, but mine came about 5 minutes after he was done with his. He then received his entree while I ate my soup and my entree showed up... more
When my dining partner suggested getting Chinese food on the North Shore - I was skeptical to say the least. And the sharp decor and wine rack at this place didn't inspire confidence. I sat down and realized I was the only Chinese dude at this place. "Dui"! And they didn't give us chopsticks - they gave us forks! Double "dui"! And yes, of course I want rice with that - see these almond... more
When I first moved to the North Shore I was craving "Real Chinese", (a little more like the food I grew up with) and I stumbled on Red Chilli.
They have become a family favourite! Even though we live only 5 minutes away this place has become a great - "I don't feel like cooking" delivery or dine in favourite. I love the spice level - service is great in the restaurant and delivery is still hot...

This place is our family's go-to place - we live about 5 minutes away, and anytime we don't feel like cooking, we come here! For North Van standards, it's actually really authentic. It's spicy enough to satisfy even our incredibly jaded tastebuds, and service has always been really good. We always stick with the exact same menu at this place: hot and sour soup, garlic green beans, spicy garlic... more
The service is terrible and the employees are rude. When ordering take-out we asked to have broccoli added to a dish and they refused telling us, "you add at home". If I wanted to cook at home I wouldn't be ordering take-out!
My friend and I got so sick from delivery from this place. Just awful. She was stuck in the bathroom for hours, it felt like someone had stabbed me in the gut.
Aside from getting sick, the food tasted terrible, other people I know that have been there agree with me.
Do not go here. Ever.
Love love live this place. We drive 20min across the bridge to come here. Have been coming for years. My better half is chinese and we've tried everywhere in town. Best Ginger beef, best garlic green beans.
This place is great! I haven't made the trek up lonsdale to eat here in a while though.
Everything I have ordered has been really good and gets to you super fast. The wontons in chili sauce was by far my favorite.I recall like 3 of 5 things I wanted were no longer being on the menu.
Two things you should know, they are only open at dinner time and it fills up quick. If you get here past 7 you...

We have been eating at this restaraunt for 8 years. Keep coming back, and ordering delivery too. Food is always full of flavor, served hot and fast. Some of the best Chinese food we have eaten!
This is probably one of the better Chinese restaurants on the North Shore, I would have given it 4 stars normally, but...
The food is very good, and the setting is nice, although small inside. Not ideal for larger groups. I thought the service was actually ok, better than most Chinse places.
The one major thing I did not like, is that they charge $5 for a medium sized bowl of steamed rice,...

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE
We ordered dinner and had it delivered. After the driver left, we discovered that part of the meal was missing. I ordered take out after reading the previous reviews. Since I was going to eat at home I figured it wouldn't matter how poor the service was. I just wanted a good beef and broccoli in black beans sauce. I was mistaken though. Good but not great.. Some dishes are good but I have had a few bad experiences with quality. Worth a shot - good location
Service is not particularly good here but if you don't want to cross the bridge, this is a pretty good spot for Szechuan cuisine on the North Shore. I love the spicy eggplant dish and if you're lazy, they also deliver.
Take out is another good option as seating is limited. Also, unlike most chinese restaurants that seem to be open 24hours a day, they are closed after 3pm and open at 5pm for...

Great food here, if you can get a table. That can sometimes be a challenge. Once you're in, try something a little different. Instead of sweet & sour pork, try the honey beef (but wait for it to cool down a bit before dipping in or you'll regret it).
For Szechuan food on the North Shore, this is one of your best bets.
Why are there no reviews for this place? It's only the best Chinese in all of North Van! The menu is fairly extensive, the portions are generous, and this is the first time I've found lo mein (my favorite Chinese dish) in the Vancouver area, although they call it Shanghai noodles, I think. Service is brusque, as expected, but I've had delivery a few times and it was fine. There is a lunch menu,... more
Fantastic Chinese Food, love the spicy ginger beef.
five stars!! -- but only if you're doing take out. otherwise, they have the worst service in north america.
Great lunch specials. Service leaves something to be desired at times, but overall great value for your money
I always try to make a trip to the Red Chilli whenever I'm down in Vancouver. Ginger Beef is unbelievable!
