Good Food, Great Price
Pushap is a really inexpensive Indian Restaurant...everything is vegetarian and quite tasty. For less than $10 a person, you can eat really well and get a good taste of the great dishes on the menu. The Bhatura, a fried flat bread is excellent.
The restaurant is small, and always busy, and crowded, but they manage to serve everyone in a fairly timely manner.
Definitely worth checking out.

Quelle déception! Étant donné les commentaires précédents, nous n'avions pas des attentes élevées en ce qui a trait à l'ambiance ou au service dans ce restaurant. Nous nous attendions toutefois à bien manger. Dès l'entrée, nous avons été frappés par la malpropreté de l'endroit. La porte vitrée n'avait assurément pas été nettoyée depuis des années. Rapport qualité-prix imbattable ! Manger aussi bien pour si peu cher, c'est preques un pêché ! Encore mieux en take-out, avec une boites de patisseries indiennes, miam ! Pour deux, jamais plus que 20$ ! Rare de nos jours ! ... Bonjour, je m'appelle Véronique, et je suis accroe!

A great place for vegetarian Indian food, a samosa and vegetarian plate is about $7 and I ncludes your choice of a sweet from the many varieties they always have at the front counter. I love this place. I come here at lease once a month to get my fix of Indian food.
I usually take the Thali. This comes with two veggies and a choice of chick peas or lentils. It's served with rice and choice of non-fried or fried nan bread. Both are great.

I love Indian food and have had it all over Montreal and South-Shore, Pushap is by far the best and cheapest vegetarian restaurant so far, everything is authentic!...The owner is friendly and always fast at serving his customers.

I was going to write about Pushap the first time I had dinner there as it was wonderful. Decided to go a second time and then write a review.

I've been going to this place for almost 20 years now but it has been going down in my opinion.
I've always taken the thali plate whiich is very cheap (6 $) but in the last visits I find everything is too oily and greasy and VERY hard to digest.
I can just imagine the cheap oils they use...

All used to be worn smooth in the manner of many such places in India, by the massive press of hungry humanity. We tried out Pushap for lunch and were not disappointed, especially on taste and value.
We were pleasantly greeted and served some very tasty dishes. Samosas and pakoras are quite good. The Eggplant Bharta is wonderful and the Aloo Gobi is very good. A good variety of breads too. So much food for so little $, with no room left...

The food and value is amazing! The environment clumzy and very crowded.
Not the best place to invite friends or family.
The bathroom is the worst place, very dirty and no maintenance, this is an indication of cleanless, how is the food? And the person who is making the food.
Questions comes to mind is e-coli, h pilori, diarrhea etc....

But that's a good thing :-) If you order the basic lunch plate, you get several different but simple vegetarian dishes, with rice and a small naan bread. Add a samosa if you are starving. I have been enjoying Pushap for many, many years. I can't remember the first time I visited but it must be over 20 years ago. At first I discovered the West Island location. Once I discovered the location on Paré I was hooked.
For me Pushap is authentic India. Not the India of the grand hotels such as the Oberoi...

Pros: I've been going to Pushap for quite a few years. The thali always left me satisfied with a warm tummy! There is something about their spices, which is just the right amount, not too strong, not too bland. Their desserts are so fresh and soft, I've yet to find better Indian sweets in Montreal.

I love this place! A family run restaurant. They serve wonderful food. It’s cheap and healthy. There isn’t any meat. The deserts are amazing. The service can be slow, but they are generous and down to earth. And they are very personable and generous!

My random thoughts regarding Pushap:
-The restaurant is not very clean and is very badly ventilated.
-Small place with very old furniture
-Better suited for students trying to find a cheap meal
-The desert had a bitter taste and took away my appetite.
-The samosas taste good and are cheap, but you could only eat so many before you get...

My favorite East Indian restaurant in Montréal, as weel as my favorite restaurant, period.
Why? Price, tastiness, portions, friendly family & multi-cultural ambiance... call me cheesy, but i somehow find it quite exotic!
I find the few cons are its location in an industrial area, its cheesy decor & lack of cleanliness in the bathrooms. Still the pros quickly eclipse...
