Pogue is in a unique location: across from Police Headquarters and amongst office buildings but not quite in the financial district. Otherwise, perfect for happy hour. There are plenty of tables to go around amid the mahogany for that after work b@!%h session, a pitcher of Guinness, and good ol' fashioned pub food. Wide open patio is prime to see someone get arrested or for some fresh air after... more
My wife and I called into this bar/restaurant just for a beer and a coffee a few days ago. We were so impressed by the service that we decided to return for a meal. We were not disappointed. The cottage pie was fabulous as was the chicken wings. Our waiter Enda, was very welcoming and efficient, answered any query we had.... more
Just had lunch with a friend at Pogue Mahone's Irish Pub at College and Bay Sts. in Toronto. We arrived at 12:15pm and we both had a beer and I had the Signature Burger, while my friend had the Perogies. The food was excellent, but that's not the point. The place was far from full, but we waited longer than... more
If you are looking for a typical pub with great food then Poag Mahone is for you. From the pub classics like fish & chips to sheppard's pie to chicken wings to die for there is something here for everyone.
Check the website for specials like Tuesday's half price wings. You should try the Canadian wings...they're great!!!!!
Went for dinner, opted to sit inside. I'm glad my smartphone has a flashlight app, because it was needed to see the menu. A few lightbulbs inside would be an improvement. The steak was quite good - tasty and tender. The dessert menu was lacking and uninteresting. The wait staff were unfriendly, uncaring, slow and seemed to regard customers as... more
Went in to watch USA and Ghana, took seats at the bar. We got drinks in but that was the last service we had, My pint was empty for a while, finally got attention of the bartender and got a refill. We decided to eat, that just wasn't going to happen, worst service. Went south on Bay to Duke of... more
Imagine a place, where you reserve a place for 6 people for 7:00-7:30 pm and you go there at 7:15, the time you enter they give your place to someone else, claiming that one of the waitresses has promised that spot to another people. I don't know any other place with such a rude waitress !
I will never step...

Menu says Irish fry brunch brings 3 eggs, sausages, beans, toast, bacon and fries. Waiter brought only 2 eggs, with no beans and no bacon. He asked us which kind of bread do we want for our toast and how do you want our eggs(raw, well done...). Multigrain bread and medium eggs were ordered, white bread and well done eggs... more
I visited Toronto during Summer 2013, and I absolutely loved this little pub.
My brother and I had a couple of pints, along with a delicious fish and chips.
The waitress that served us was very attentive, and very courteous. Even though we are very familiar with Irish cuisine, she was very happy to explain how they make their Irish...

One of the worst experiences. I invited my family out to celebrate my nephew's 13th birthday on July 31st. This was the first time I used my credit card in months. The service was dismal and my credit card was subjected to fraud two days later. Luckily my bank reversed the charge, but I was travelling to the US at... more
Three of us had lunch here last Sunday.Well actually i had the breakfast for lunch.Three egg omlette and all the trimmings. Was delicious.A very nice appointed bar /restuarant with outside patio, located on college street.Irish fry was $10.99 and a clubhouse was $13.99. Typical Toronto prices..Kids breakfast was $4.99. Beer was $6.50 a pint..A good place to eat.
This place makes wonderful Irish stew, and very good fish and chips, but charges $15 each. the beer was poured well, and was priced about the same as anywhere. The outdoor seating was great, with a great view and good location, but the chairs were a bit small and uncomfortable. All in All this was a very good place to... more
Chanced upon this great pub and were attracted by the live music and ambiance on the patio on a warm summer Saturday night. Located at the corner of Bay & College in downtown TO. The food was excellent and service great. We chose traditional pub fare ( Guinness mushroom and steak pie ). Prices were reasonable. We'll be back. By... more
Stopped during parade for beer and food. Expected better of Irish pub fare. Hostess welcoming but outside tables squeezed together with smokers all around.
Ate there with friends. The restaurant has typical Irish fare - Irish stew, cottage pie, etc. Very pleasant evening, good food.
Wondering the streets of Toronto looking for a pub for dinner before a baseball game we stumbled upon Pogue Mahone Irish Pub! We had to go; after all, our last name is Pogue! The service was good and the food great pub food. The fish and chips were not over battered, over cooked nor over greased! The choices of good... more
Had their famous "cottage pie". It was good, not great. Lots of beer choices. Service was okay, not pushy. My group was happy with the choice, but we were not looking for "fine dining."
My husband and I went to Pogue Mahone with a hankering for Irish stew. Although we have been to the restaurant before, the stew was really disappointing. It tasted fine but the thick broth/gravy made it hard to see what was in it. As we were eating we noticed we had vegetables but barely any meat. I believe I had... more
I had the wost dining experience ever today! We sat down at 3pm and didn't get our drinks until 3:30. At this time the restaurant wasn't busy! Then our food finally arrived at 4pm. Although one person at our table didn't get her food. Since our horrible waitress forgot to put her order in. When we got our bills we... more
Well the beer and the service along with this very convenient downtown location are what this place has going for it, but the food is at best OK and the prices a little pricy (though this could be because of location) The place I think is best enjoyed if you're going out for drinks and pub food as opposed to... more
We randomly selected the Pogue Mahone since it was just a moment away from our hotel. We often search out neighborhood, non-chain eateries and were enchanted with this one. We sat outside in a very comfortable area, had superb and attentive service along with a brunch that was served fresh, hot and quickly but was not rushed. The prices on... more
single person business person/ sat at table for 4. was moved at request.wasn't asked smoking/non.no ashtrays on tables. sat 5 min no service. too many servers, walking/standing around (do they have sections? maybe too young for clientele!), all passed me w/o stopping. other patrons waiting for service. male server carrying pepper mill under his arm pit! water warm no ice.... more
As a visitor to Toronto on business I wanted to go out an enjoy the city and sit in a sports bar, have a meal and enjoy the superbowl. Due to timing issues, I couldn't get into a couple of sports bars and Hoops (the bar at which I was hoping to eat) recommended I try Pogue Mahone across the... more
We have been to this bar or several occasions and never had a problem until this visit. We sat in the bar area and seemed to be putting the barman out. He was outright rude, wouldn't mind if they were busy or if it was late at night but he never smiled once or offered menus etc
Visited on a quiet Monday night but really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. What's interesting is the variety of food which differs from the same old, same old offered by so many other restaurant/pubs. I intend to visit again.
Meh. Food tastes like it is from the freezer at Costco.
Good restaurant. Too noisy to eat dinner there on a Friday night, the afterwork crowd gets a bit rowdy.
Food is okay. Great pub if you don't enjoy the typical pub stink. :-)
After a long day touring the concrete jungle, satisfy your appetite and thirst with a pint of Guinness. The kitchen also provides the essential pub fare staples that will satiate any empty stomach. Try the Grand Irish Brunch served from 11 a.m. and on featuring the classic dishes like Eggs Florentine, Irish Fry, Corned Beef Hash, and Lorraine Omelette. The general menu features Potato Skins,... more
