converted gas station with large patio serving victorians for over 19 years
Food was average, service was average. The prices seemed a little high.
First off, the building is unique, in that it used to be an old gas station. I like that they kept the design. I ordered the halibut burger with poutine. I could barely get through the burger. There wasn't an empty spot on my plate to be seen when the food arrived. The service was on the slow side, however,... more
We (re)visited Pluto's, as we do every time we're in Victoria. The food is fresh (especially the salads) portions are generous, and the price is very reasonable. What's not to like? Don't expect fancy, it is a converted garage after all. We've done lunches and dinners but haven't tried breakfast there yet. Maybe next time. We love coming back to... more
My husband is a Foody, for sure, and he had the Huevas Rancheros (I'm not sure how to spell it) and said they were the best he's ever had. The coffee was delicious too!
A unique restaurant in Victoria on Cook Street - within walking distance from downtown. Great food, good prices and service. This restaurant has been on the site for 25 years which says a lot in a city full of ever changing restaurants. The locals love it - sit inside at a booth or a table or on a nice day... more
This is a quaint restaurant housed in a former garage. Neat the way the owners had the decor arranged.
It may not be a fancy location, but when I go to a restaurant I go for the "food." On the occasion of our visit, the burgers were fantastic.
Served piping hot, the burgers had a very fresh taste - nice...

Had the Cod sandwich. Portion was large and it was served with salad. Very tasty. Service was excellent.
I don't know why people stand in line in the rain for the Blue Fox when you can almost always get a seat quickly here on a weekend morning. The portions have improved greatly since the last time I was there. Super tasty. Gluten free bread option. Glad we checked it out. I had the Huevo Ranchero and my friend... more
Decided to try Pluto's after living in Victoria for over a year. The food was at best average. Not much taste... just rather bland and boring. Overall, a very average experience , but I'm rating as poor due to mediocre service. No-one asked us how our meal was. When we paid our bill, no-one said thank you. When we left,... more
Pluto's has lots of good menu items, but I crave their house sald with tahini dressing. It is delicious, healthy and satisfying - a full meal with garbanzo beans, grated cheese, avocado, various greens, etc. I might need to go back soon!
This place seems like a great idea, until you actually eat there. It's such a cool building, and could be so much more than it is, but sadly it's just not. If you like greasy, salty, uninspired "American" food ~Eat at Pluto's~... but if you like tasty food ~Eat Somewhere Else~
Went here for lunch on my honeymoon, I ordered a chocolate milkshake and after a couple sips I was very impressed and looking forward to my meal! However the beef taco wrap my wife ordered was soggy and seemed to taste not so much like a taco ( I'm thinking cilantro). Other than that we enjoyed the classic 50s 60s... more
This used to be one of our favorite places for breakfast - great Eggs Benny - but we haven't been there for a few years and on a recent visit for dinner - a first for us here - we were disappointed. Not in the service which was as excellent as it always was but in both the condition and... more
This place is good if what you are looking for is a pile of traditional diner food. Their menu is quite varied (e.g. burgers, enchiladas, salads, sandwiches, milkshakes). Funky ambiance with a dingy interior/exterior (including filthy toilet). Personally, I found the food to be of low quality and taste, even if plentiful and nice-looking. The fries were tasteless and the... more
Very large and different menu. Not just a regular breakfast place. You can sit inside or out. Walk from downtown. Free parking.
Having been to Pluto's for lunch and supper before we decided to go for breakfast and were not disappointed in the least.
Service was excellent as was the food. I joyfully downed the traditional Benny and my partner had a big breakfast all his own. Both were very good.
We will definitely be back for breakfast and we will be...

Pluto's has a special every night. Endless wings and fries, burger and beer, steak night, etc. The salads are large and very good, with shredded carrots and beets, sunflower seeds, and home made dressings. Unpretentious atmosphere, very kid friendly, beer on tap.
I visited pluto's for the endless fish and chips - and after having the fish so hard that it couldn't cut, and jumped around my plate, I said to hell with it - and resigned after one course.
Sure it's all you can eat fish and chips - but who would want seconds?
This place was a welcome change from the many yuppy upscale restaurants in Victoria... Very friendly, relaxed, and great, reasonably priced food. Famous with locals for their great breakfasts!
Had the fish and chips and the burrito. The fish was perfectly cooked, batter was dark and crispy yet the fish was still tender and flakey. Fries and gravy were great. At $15 for one peice the price was okay to a wee bit high I thought, but it was halibut not cod. The burrito meal on the other hand... more
Former auto garage - atmospgere to match. Pleasant, attentave waitress - kept our coffee cups full. Had diablo hash ($10.) and huevos rancheros. Good. Coffee ($3.). They have all-you-can-eat menus. Recommended.
Good hearty meals a very reasonable price. Licensed and a very casual staff and atmosphere. Suitable for kids and a family meal.
we strolled in at 715pm on an evening that had the restaurant closing shortly but were instantly made to feel comfy. Food was great..service awesome..and would recommend this funky place!!
I was here just a couple weeks back with some friends and I have to say that everything that came out of the kitchen looked delectable. The menu had so many delicious dishes to choose from that I almost couldn't make up my mind. I was back and forth over a few things but ultimately went with the meatloaf sandwich.... more
New cheery vinyl tablecloths, new seating options, sense of it being both cleaner and more cozy feeling, the old standby Pluto's seem to have taken a good breath of fresh air and is standing proud once again.
Great place for breakfast, the place was packed, but we found parking in their lot, and both my friend and I ordered veggie...

Pluto's is our favourite place for breakfast in Victoria. Many varieties of Eggs Benny plus the best Huevos Rancheros in town and an early bird special for $5.99. Friendly waitresses and good atmosphere.
We were looking some place to sit down and fill our bellies while waiting for our laundry, and the very cute old Atomic age gas station caught our eye. Food quality wise it's an average diner - they put together an okay burger and good home-cut fries - but make up for it in atmosphere and service. I really enjoyed... more
We've been here a couple of times visiting Victoria and came back again on this visit. And it's reliable. Yogurt and granola? Nope. Eggs, pancakes, bennies, burgers, and much more though.
It is what it is. Love the fact that it was a gas station and it was turned into a restaurant. Prices are reasonable, we had good service.

Went in on a Sunday afternoon, after the hangover crowds had cleared out. Ordered the fries with cheese sauce and gravy... Fries were more boiled then fried so I sent them back. The second order arrived crispy... But were swimming in three times the amount of sause needed. Might as well have been soup.
I've gone to this place since I was a teenager (20 years) and have always loved it. After tonight I will never go again. It's never been gourmet, but I've always felt there was value for the dollar, so kept going over the years. Tonight I dragged my family out of the house and boy, do we regret it. The... more
Years ago, when I was a student at UVIC, I loved this place. Unfortunately things have gone downhill since then.
The food was average at best. No flavor on the wings and the chipotle beef salad also lacked flavor as well. The real kick in the teeth was the prices. Way to high for what you get except the milkshake....

being a local, I have been to plutos many times...
the only really good thing about it is the milkshakes....the butterscotch and espresso ones are great!
last time I went the food just sucked...
i ordered quesadillas with side mexican rice.. and my girlfriend ordered a chicken burger and fries..
the quesadilla was fine.. not worth the money, but decent.....

My husband and I have been wanting to try Pluto's for some time, and finally got a chance to drop in for a late lunch. I had one of the egg breakfasts (available until 2) and he got a burger. Both surprisingly good, including a huge side salad. Nothing fancy but it looked and tasted fresh.
The service was friendly....

The service was awful. The food so so. The quantity for the price, very poor.
Great burgers of any kind. Love the salad with the tahini dressing. Cool temps in winter so bundle up.
Food consistently good, but service was so poor that we will never go back. We were regulars
