Went there for the first time recently. I was nicely surprised as I had never heard of this place before.
I had their special of the day, which was a sweet potatoe soup with a pizza for a very decent price. The soup was really good and different than soups I was use to eating. The pizza was excellent, I shared half of it with my friend and he shared half of his with me. My friend goes there... plus

Great intimate and convivial with a nice joie de vivre. Sharing an Abricot beer, PizzaZa salad, Danois and Aloha Pizzas and it tastes exquisite.

I've been there three times so far and every time it has been delicious. I've only had their pizza so I can't comment on the pasta but the pizza is excellent. Nice thin crust and fresh toppings. They have a full bar and wine list.
The only thing I would not recommend are some of the desserts. The chocolate mouse is the safe route and the desserts look like they've been pre-made and are taken... plus

Awful. I order a take out pizza. When I came to get it was super cold. It looks like it has been ready for ages.... The size of the pizza was just outrageous considering the price. Never going back.

I ordered French onion soup and pizza with ham and green olives. I'd say the food was great. I would have liked less crunch crust for the pizza, but I guess I'm more used to North American pizzas as opposed to thin crust pizza.

Overall not bad. I ordered one pizza after seeing the size of the portion at the table next to me. It's a personal pizza size. It's thin crust style pizza and rather tasty but if you are used to North American style pizza you may want to order two. I ordered the La Club pizza, chicken, tomatoes, bacon i think.

I'm a bit conflicted as to what to write for this review.

Having gone for dinner with three other people, I ordered two (yes two) pizzas to try. (I self justified this indulgence by claiming one as an appetizer). Unfortunately, for my taste buds, and for what I want out a pizza that I'm actually paying for, the pizzas just didn't do anything for me at all.

This place seems to have gotten worse over the years. The menus haven't changed but the food seems less fresh somehow.

disappointing

I was really surprised at the lack of value in eating here. Ordered 5 pizzas which was not cheap, and my small group was still very hungry afterwards. I would expect a $15 (ordered by takeout) pizza to serve 2 people. It sure didn't.

Had a relaxed lunch during the holidays. All three diners had the personal pizza. Excellent thin crusts on the pizzas. Attentive service, good value, charming décor. Will be back!

Great value, especially the wines by the glass. I highly recommend the salads, especially the smoked trout salad and the seafood one. Always busy - go early, esp. for lunch!

One of Gatineau's gems

Consistently delicious pizzas, great wine selection, and surprisingly yummy desserts. I have nothing but great things to say about this place... well except maybe that it's so good it's difficult to get a table sometimes. Highly recommend le paysane. Always perfectly thin crispy crust and scrumptious toppings. And I'm addicted to that mousse praline - always great with a capuccino to finish off.

Boring

Went for dinner with a friend. The atmosphere is nice, but the food, although looks great on the menu, has no taste. The antipasto with meat was a huge disappointed! The pizza was thin but no taste! The server was slow and not attentive. Wasn't impressed and won't go back.

fine night out

great service by Nicolas. All servings arrived at the same time and he managed a large table very, very well. All in all a great dining experience on a very busy night. I recommend to all.

I had a good little pizza for lunch. Quick and effective service. Decent price too.

Pizza entre filles

J'ai travaillé à Portage pendant 12 ans et je doit dire que depuis l'ouverture, nous les filles en avions fait notre place de prédilection le vendredi. Attention soyez sur place avant l'ouverture (11h30) le vendredi. Mes choix habituels sont la salade pizzaza et la pizza tropicale; le mélange de mangue, crevettes et Jalapenos est sublime. Great terrasse, good ambiance, food is amazing. Good for diner but for lunch, alot of stuff on the menu is not available. Why?

Je me suis présenté seul un lundi soir à 19hr30, après l'heure de pointe. Il n'y avait qu'une demi-douzaine de personnes dans le restaurant, mais la serveuse semblait complètement dépassé par les événements.

Great place. We had the Escargot Forestiers pizza: pesto, escargot, & mushrooms & the salad with goat cheese medallions. Delicious! The garden out back is lush & beautiful.

Cozy little place with damn good food! I had the escargot pizza. Mmmm, mmm, mmm! Seriously, where else can I find that? We were a bit afraid that not speaking French would be a problem but the staff is very friendly. And they do have a few menus in English(not dessert menus though.) For dessert I ordered "mousse praline?" It wasn't buttery at all. For the hazelnut fans, I highly recommend.

My family and I tried to get into this restaurant a year ago, but there was a 45-minute wait and it was too cold out, and we had somewhere to be, so we passed on waiting.

had the escargot pizza and some wine. It was exactly what you expect if you expected an excellent, perfect, escargot pizza.

I went there a few months ago so my memory is a little fuzzy but I remember the pizza's that my party had were equally great, but its hard to beat an escargot pizza.

The pasta dish that I had was INCREDIBLE. One of the best meals I have had in a long time.

It's a gamble ordering pasta in a restaurant famous for its pizza, but I was just in heaven.

Linguini with shrimps and tomatoes: Shrimp, sliced tomatoes, olive oil, capers, garlic, black olives, lemon juice and fresh coriander

Overrated pizza in a place that is busy only because thousands and thousand of civil servants working in the surrounding complexes have relatively few choices of where to get a pizza for lunch. But beware. This place has disinterested servers who care little about the customer, seeing them more as an inconvenience than anything else.
