If you are thinking sandwich or sub, the pita pit is a good alternative. Love the chicken/ham swiss cheese melt. Good freash toppings. The Pita looks big, but is not too filling.
Pita Pit has a great selection of fresh toppings and dressings. I like the tzatziki and feta cheese and I haven't seen any horrible green tomatos yet (Iike Subway always seem to have). My only complaint is that there doesn't seem to be very much meat in the pitas given the price you pay.
This chain is squirrelled away right next to a Quizno's in the Parkwood Place shopping center. I'm not sure I'm right on its being a bit healthier than a lot of subs - basically it offers the same kind of fillings as sub joints do but also, appropriate for the Middle eastern origins of pita bread, the classic, hummus (chick peas, tahini etc.)
This place is great, I go there almost every day for lunch. The amount of food you get for the price is absolutely fantastic but sometimes the service can be iffy. My major issue is that often they ask for a tip, especially on the debit machine, before your food is even served to you, which is unacceptable.
The pitas are fresh and made to suit your tastes like Subway. We had large Falafels and they were delicious. The staff are ok, not overally friendly.
