the spring rolls here, which i had as an appetizer and regretebly as my main course on rice with pork, were not very good. too crispy.
I have very good input on a LOT of the Vietnamese restaurants in town. Me and my friend went through a period where we toured the city's vietnamese restaurants, critiquing each. Every Saturday and Sunday, and whatever we could manage on the odd week day lunch hour. Really it was pass / fail for each restaurant, though failing doesn't mean it's terrible just that I wouldn't go back, compared to the other restaurants in town. I always order one of 5 dishes to compare each restaurant and here I've had the rare beef pho sine the front of the store says "the world's famous beef soup" or something. I'm not sure about the fame, but it was really good. Not an outwardly looking amazing restaurant, and one of many choices nearby, but very good.
The general hygenic situation has to be improved and monitored by the local government.
I work downtown and I've been here for lunch several times now. The value here is very good and I find the food to generally be quite tasty (there have been a few misses though). It's definitely a no-frills type of place but if you want a simple lunch for a low price it's usually a good choice.

I'm only a one-timer here. Ordered the Pho Tai, your normal beef noodle soup with raw meat. It was a comparatively bland broth and the meat was not piled nicely in the middle all red and raw, but rather was stirred around my soup and a bit chewy.
My husband and I had dinner here. Was a little disappointed that their menu was limited except for a varieties of pho. We each had a "medium size" but large portion bowl of very tasty pho. No frill restaurant in Chinatown.
Really good pho! Probrably one of my favourites in Calgary! Just don't go expecting the decor to be warm and inviting or even charming. Cash only so you know its authentic! :P
This place is a gem. The fried spring rolls are made with authentic rice paper and are music to your mouth. The bun thit nuong (vermicelli with barbecue pork) is delicious. The pho satay is the best ever! Their cold 3 color drinks are excellent and their vietnamese iced coffee will bring you back for more. Best place in town,... more
The name is authentic but not the food, so just walk away! It's plain and boring from services to food.
Best Pho/Bun restaurant Ever!
I've received mix review on this Pho restaurant.
Super food....decor...not so much.
This is my #1 favourite Vietnamese place for Pho and Bun. All other places are only used in substitution for this place located right in front of the Harry Hay's building. Try their spicy Beef Satay Noodle Soup! It's the most authentic and flavourful one ever! I even managed to reproduce at home with an authentic recipe!
Best Pho, Best service, best price
Exellent spring rolls, excellent satay soup. The service is friendly and prompt. The atmosphere is nothing fancy, but it feels quite authentic--like this is the type of non-touristy place you would find in Vietnam.
The best rare beef and beef ball soup in town!
Good quality and tasty pho for the cheapest price in town. It's pretty much the only place I go for pho after Tamarine closed.
