This chain of Pho restaurant has really been in decline in the recent years. This scenario has been played out before. Xe Lau, once the Mt. Rushmore of pho restaurants has gone down this path before.
I remembered once this was my go to Pho place in the Kitchener area and also their sister location in Mississauga. Over the years, I have started notice a pretty steep decline in the quality of the...

I love this place. Best Vietnamese food in KWCG. Don't forget to get a steamed egg!
I came to Phõ Dau Bo because I'm a Chicago native that was in town to play the Kitchener Blues Festival, and needed a cheap and filling meal on my night off. The rare beef and brisket phõ was very tasty, and this place gets a bonus for having all of its condiments already on the table, so you don't forget anything. That makes for a damn good bowl of soup.
Service was good and the complimentary...

Better than Ben Thanh, but it's in Kitchener, so distance is further if you live in Waterloo.
Ordered their house special with spring rolls. Both were pretty good, and decently filling. Service was okay, nothing spectacular.
This place is legit. Its nothing fancy, but it has the homely authentic vibe to it; It feels and looks as it should! If you want a taste of authentic vietnamese cuisine, this is the place to go.
This is one of the better Viet restaurants in KW. The pho came out in less than 5 minutes from when I ordered. I was already impressed by that point! The broth was delicious and not too strong or oily. The size was decent and they didn't skimp on the ingredients and the bean sprouts were very fresh. No complaints whatsoever!
Still amazing soups!!!!....and now much cleaner and redesigned. Only please could you please stop the alarm beeping.
The pho tastes pretty good and service is quick! A little far for a student but will probably come here again.
GREAT! Best pho in KW hands down. I always dined at Ben thahn to sastify pho cravings however this place is much tastier! The pho is cheaper and arrives fresh and piping hot. The lady there is so friendly too. The only thing I don't like is that it is so far down King Street and getting there by bus (if you're a student) is quite time consuming. But definitely worth coming here if you have a... more
Pretty authentic Vietnamese place. Their pho is great and I'd go more often if there weren't other competing restaurants along the way that get my attention before getting to this one. If you're feeling like getting some good Vietnamese food around downtown, this probably is the place.
I didn't expect to find this type of authentic Vietnamese food here in Waterloo. This is still not Pho Linh quality - for those of you don't know it has the best Pho Toronto has to offer. Back to Waterloo. I had a grilled chicken with steam eggs and shredded pork on rice, I could taste spices like lemon grass marinated well into the chicken. The steam eggs and shredded pork was good but I... more
by far the most disgusting pho I've had to date, every piece of meat was pure fat with large chunks of fat floating in the soup. I also had the lovely privilege of eating a piece of tripe (the lining of a cows stomach). To which the waitress replied 'it's edible'. The service sucked, and they argued with me about whether it was normal to have such fatty meat. The customer service was beyond... more
I'm giving it five stars because it is the gold standard to beat for Vietnamese food in this area. It is not technically the best Vietnamese food I've ever had but it's legit, solid and authentic.
From the moment I walk in I know I'm in for good food. It's decorated like a Vietnamese restaurant with Christmas lights strung along the wall board. Food comes out less than five minutes from when I...

Pho Dau Bo is a hidden Vietnamese restuarant with a lot of potential.
Of the food to order there, it's best to try the pho, it's their signature dish and their broth is quite good. Choose the meat that you feel most comfortable eating, however all of them taste good.
The broth tastes good overall. However, it is quite salty, and if you're a nutrition freak you may be a little concerned. In the...

The best pho you'll get in KW! They're definitely family-owned and efficient. While English is not their strong point, the food definitely is. I've never been disappointed. The decor is hilarious. The cow head logo of Pho Dau Bo is literally printed everywhere. On the chopsticks, on the spoons, from the windows, to the walls.
One time, I ordered the wrong thing without realizing and they...

My go-to pho place in the KW area. Portions are large, prices are very fair, and the pho is the best in town. Broth is very flavourful, noodles are great, and the rare meat actually comes out rare, unlike other places.. (Benh Thanh...). I come here regularly as it is conveniently located and has a back parking lot so easily accessible. Great place!
If your looking for a fine dining experience this is NOT the place for you. but if you want authenticity and heart warming pho, give it a try!!
I have always been nervous to try this place because i wasn't sure i would like it. I got the shrimp pho and it was delicious! Love how they give you a...

Pho was flavorful and nourishing. Basil super fragrant. Kids liked their non pho dishes - fresh and simple pork, fried rice and chicken with broccoli- but the pho was the best thing on menu. Supposed to fill out order yourself and bring it to counter but they will help you if you need help ordering like we did. Great lunch overall. Basement restaurant worth seeking out.
We ordered rice dishes (Grilled chicken with steamed egg) & vermicelli (grilled meatballs with pork). The chicken is marinated first, so it has good favour. The steamed egg is more like ground pork with an egg layer on top. The grilled meatball looks more like sausage..... I don't know why it's called meatballs.
The restaurant looks just average....it's on basement...

This is one of my favourite restaurants in Kitchener. Their Rare Beef Rice Noodle Soup is my all time favourite pho. So much so that I find it hard to order anything else on the menu.
The restaurant is fairly clean and service is fast and efficient.
I've lost count on how many times I went to Pho Dau Bo in here. Not only their pho and vermicelli are tasty, their drinks are wonderful as well. Try their CHÈ BA MÀU - 3 Kinds of Bean Pudding, and specialty pho, and friend chicken vermicelli. They are awesome!
This is my go to place for pho whenever I'm visiting in Kitchen, Ontario. However, I usually come here for convenience rather than taste. The food served is authentic Vietnamese food, and you will here no complaints coming from me about the taste. However, the steep price and small portions prevent this place from getting 4 stars. The service isn't too bad considering I always come here with a... more
Best Pho restaurant in the KW area hands down. Good food for a good price. Quick service. Lots of solid options. They should open one beside the Universities.
I go to Pho Dau Bo regularly. When I'm out of town I often try other Vietnamese places and always compare them less favourably to this restaurant. It's not fancy, but it's fast, with reasonable prices, and I've never had a bad experience here with service or with food. Best Pho in KW by far and I've tried them all. I get the vermicelli with spring rolls...and a side of spring rolls :)
And the...

I've been wanting to visit this restaurant for years, and finally did last night. As has been pointed out, there is lots of parking in the back off of Charles Street, and there is a rear entrance. The ambience is very utilitarian. There's a plastic tray on every table containing spoons, plastic chop sticks, condiments, and a dispenser of the thinnest napkins I've ever encountered. If you're... more
3.5 Stars -- knocked down because of the spaghetti noodles which were served in place of the vermicelli with grilled pork and spring rolls (read for more information below!).
So, everyone gave this place 4 stars. My thoughts? Yeah, it was pretty good. The prices were reasonable for what you were getting. All in all good. Wait a sec. Let me stop rambling and write something more useful!

This location of Pho Dau Bo is excellent. The service is wonderful, and the food is delicious! I am a huge fan of their spring rolls, and honestly just cannot get enough of them! The spring rolls are always crispy and delicious - definitey my favourite item. I also personally recommend their vermicelli bowls (especially those that come with the spring rolls). I really feel like Pho Dau Bo is... more
This is the best place in KW for pho bo (beef )! I agree with other reviewers about their other dishes not being very good... I tried the pho ga (chicken) once and it was very disappointing -- dry pieces of chicken breast served with rice noodles in a BEEF broth. But the pho bo is outstanding!
Out of all the pho places I have been to this has got to be one of my top choices. Shame the only one I've been to is their location in waterloo, but I can only hope their quality extends to their scarborough location as well.
Order the Bun, they have quick and polite waitress staff and the food is served promptly definite plus whenever I go there I as absolutely famished. Their spring roll...

all the signs of a good bowl of pho. No seriously, if you want your pho injected into your veins this is the place to go. The other stuff on the menu is nasty, don't even get the drinks. The drinks come in a styrofoam container which is 90% ice.
The Pho is good, but a true Vietnamese restaurant needs to diversify from Pho. Therefore one time I decided to try the more exotic foods.
I tried the Beef Brisket noodle tomato soup. Man was I disappointed: the tomato soup had almost no taste at all, and the beef brisket was a little hard.
The Pho itself I'd give 4 stars, but everything else I'd give a 2. So average it out you get a 3.
This place is good. And it is great for my parents to go eat before leaving Waterloo from seeing me.
For students who don't know how to drive around in Waterloo, there is secret parking in the back. Don't try to park on the curb, it gets busy unless you are in real luck that day.
You can also hit the only decent Asian supermarket, New City Supermarket, I know in Waterloo before heading back. It...

I've came here once, twice, three times... Let's not count anymore. I've came here so many times, and I can never ever complain about it. Actually, the first time I came to this restaurant, I had the pad thai, and it was quite a disappointment. However, after the trying the pho here, I juts couldn't stop coming back. I might have to say that it was one of the best phos that I've ever had in my... more
One of the worst Pho restaurants I've been to. Had a very difficult time trying to communicate with the employees there because they could not speak English very well. I ordered a Large beef slices and beef balls Pho which tasted very plain and had probably about 80% soup water and 20% noodles and meat. I don't think I'm ever coming back here again.
This is the worst place I ever been to. The soup has too much MSG, it made me thirsty every time I eat it. The washroom was very dirty, it smells so bad in there.
This restaurant is great if you've only had Thai in kitchener or waterloo. So on the basis of convenience it gets a high rating. On a comparison of this to Peach Garden in Mississauga it gets a 2. Mobark Loves Vietnam, Mobark Loves Pad Thai?!
excellent. I go every week. The chicken and beef soup (pho) is my favourite
