Want to know how bad Pet Stores treat their animals? Go there Tuesday morning after a long weekend. My kids and I have gone here a handful of times to learn about the animals and animal care and this day was a lesson they will never forget.
Half the birds were dead. The other half were all over the store. It was awful. The store smelled disgusting and we left after five minutes (we only stayed...

I use to go to this store to buy aquarium supplies. I have no complaints about the store itself. The place is clean and neat.
The problem is customer service. I receive no help at all. It does not matter if you go to the store in the morning, afternoon or evening. No one is there to help you. I went to the fish section and waited around for 20 mins before I had to go and ask someone to sell me...

Looking for a sick or dying animal?! THIS is the place to go!
1- The majority of their fish have ICK, which is a disease that will infect and kill your entire aquarium!
2-How about some aquatic plants to liven up your aquarium? Not to worry, they WILL have parasites all over them which ....yup, will infect your aquarium!
3-Now, onto the rodents. In my experience the rats are covered in...

I have never been so upset before.
I used to go to pets unlimited for everything: Dog food, cat food, kitty litter, ect. But in the past couple months my idea of them has gone down a lot.
After Christmas me and my bf bought two rats, we told the woman working that those rats where pets (she even helped us pick out a name) when we got home I noticed one of my rats was sneezing and I didn't no...

Nice selection of aquaria supplies but tend to be Hagen dominated. I tend to think that Hagen may actually own this chain as a subsidiary. In town for the week so I decided to check out the fish section. One word - pricey! Not sure how Haligonians can live with their prices. Terrible. If I lived here I'd resort to mail ordering online.
firstly, in response to Erin P., the cats sold here are from the SPCA. their $150 price tag goes straight to the SPCA to cover their adoption fee, spay/neuter, etc. no dogs are sold here.
however, yes, this shop does sell bunnies, birds, chinchillas, etc. All of these animals can be found in rescue and foster, and so it is not the most responsible thing to do to buy them here. especially...

As a child I used to love visiting pet stores that sold animals. But now it breaks my heart when I see animals cooped up in those small display cases. That is no life for an animal, particularly animals that seek interaction and human attention.
I hadn't been to a pet store in quite sometime that actually sold animals as many these days do not, and only sell pet supplies. So when I walked in to...

I've never been that impressed with Pets Unlimited but sometimes I stop by to grab something for the pups because it's the closest place to our house. This was the case last night when my husband and I popped in to grab some rawhide bones and a new bed for the pugs (saw it on sale and they needed it!).
The front line staff in this store are almost non-existent and when you do find them they're...

As a child I loved going in pet stores that sell animals but as I grown up I see pet stores differently. I am a lover and owner of pet house rabbits. These animals require attention and care. Pets unlimited is a sad place for me. They have birds flying around inside the roof of the store. The staff did not seem concerned? This is a death of dehydration for these birds as far as I can see. The... more
Please do not buy small pets here!!!! They sold me two sick bunnies and refused to admit it even with vet proof. I was given the run around until I finally gave up.
The store is filthy dirty and the staff are dirty as well. I feel as though nothing is clean. It even stinks.
The prices are pretty much on par but please consider going to beat friend pet supplies, global pets foods. These places...

So I've never been a big Pets fan. I've heard too many bad things and while I try not to believe all the hearsay. I have two bearded dragons so I will occasionally go there for lights, fixtures, decorations etc, but have my own cricket supplier so I only get feeders there when my guy is out of town.
I am VERY glad they stopped carrying puppies and kittens (for sale) as I had heard of too many...

We recently purchased a lop bunny from this store. We were told it was $100 dollars to get the bunny fixed. I should have called b.s. On the spot but I held back because my better half was already in love with the bunny. The actual bill is over $300.
They recommended we use a few of the different litters they sell...after more research and speaking with the vet we found out that none of the...

They do have a huge selection, but the only reasonably priced item I found was the soft-sided pet carriers (which I will log away for future reference). I ended up buying a plain litter tray, scoop, and a 50% off brush; the bill came up just shy of $20. So if you're just looking for the basics, this place is ok. They also have a huge selection of products.
I feel guilty having given them my...

When I have nothing to do on a rainy Saturday or Sunday afternoon, I head to Pets Unlimited. It's the one of my favourite pass-times when I have time to spare.
I immediately head down to the puppies and eww and awww over their cute little, playful ways. I also particularly enjoy looking at the gross reptiles. I find I can sit there and stare at the snacks for hours!
Walking through the fish...

Admittedly, I'm not a pet owner, nor do I intend to be one. That's for all the other pet lovers on the planet.
That said, this particular Pets Unlimited location is the perfect way to pass a couple of hours with little ones. My three year old grandson thinks it's a zoo. He loves looking at all the animals, talking to Dory, Marlin, Marlin and their friends in the many fish tanks.
And he's...

I am sad to say our experience with Pets Unlimited was a Huge Nightmare.
We purchased a Hamster, now I do not know a lot about these little animals, and this was told to the staff that helped us.
However, we bought the hamster, all the supplies, cage etc. A few days after we got home, the hamster got what is called wet-tail. The problem was no one told us to look out for this. I had no idea...

I love puppies!
Before I begin, I would suggest you read the review of this store by Reviewer Ang M. She makes some very good points that one must take into account.
Onto my review! This particular Pets Unlimited store is crammed with every kind of animal food, treat and other products I could imagine. They try to have a supply that suits all your animal needs. Whether your pet is a dog,...

A shop like Pets Unlimited may be okay to buy your dog-food or cat-food at - but do not, I repeat, DO NOT buy an animal from a chain store like this. You are dooming more animals to a life of puppy mills and unscrupulous breeders if you perpetuate this system. Pets from chain stores are also notoriously disease-ridden. And don't suggest that by buying one of these glass-caged pets you're... more
