Meet the Business Owner: David C.
Welcome to Pearl Drops Teahouse.
I decided to drop by with family members as I had told them that it was close by and convenient. The last time I had visited this place was a Few years back so I decided to try this place again. I felt bad I had referred my family members to this place. There was no ingredients left at the store due to the owner not keeping in contact with the staff and hasn't been seen in some time. I also... more
Had hot milk tea which was cold, added pearls which were not enough. No straw. Giving a plastic spoon and coffee type of paper cup, so had to open lid to scoop pearls. Bleh. Milk tea had leaves in it.

Pearl Drops Teahouse was a pretty regular place that I used to frequent, as I live in the heights. There was always an amazing range of fresh teas and they used real seasonal fruit! My friends and I would often go there. When you would stay they offered your drinks in tall elegant glasses or hot teas in nice tea pots. The place was always warm and busy. There are new owners now and the place...

We went with friends to the tea house. Being the only place on the Heights that offers bubble tea, there was not much choice.
This use to be one of my favorite places for bubble tea! Did they change owner or something? The people who worked there before was cheerful and was happy to serve me but the girls and guys who work there now seems to hate their job or something. service was bad, no smile no nothing, if anything they seem annoyed that im there. I went in there with a gf after not being there for about 7 months... more
I've been to this place a lot and their tea is expensive but in North Burnaby, there aren't many other choices nearby. In general their service is solid, you get the occasional guy who isn't happy about taking your order, no smile at all. And that time, they didn't have pearls and we would have had to wait 15 minutes. No pearls at Pearl Drops? So I had to order mango stars. Good thing is they... more
Checked out this bubble tea place for the first time this weekend and was disappointed with the drinks, the dessert and the service. It was early evening and my group was only the 2nd table there. I ordered honey milk tea and a strawberry cheesecake. Since the place was fairly empty, we thought it would be quick, however our order took longer than usual (minimum of 20 mins). And when my... more
I have been eating at this restaurant for years and the food and service are not as good as before. I even find it really slow recently. I had to wait 40 minutes for my beef noodle soup. It happened twice in the last little while.
It was good at first but last few time their milk tea taste different. Stopping me from visiting again.
Pretty good. Overall, nothing to fault. Drinks are big. My daughter enjoyed it the most. Lots of younger folks hanging around but everyone minds their own business and are polite. The waitresses are young and very friendly. The drinks are fresh and not overly sweet which is a good thing plus huge variety. My daughter wants to come back with a group of her friends. Nice to have a place like this... more
My experience of the Honey Toast Box at Pearl Drops Teahouse was only "okay" BUT that comes with qualifications... more
Love their top 5 drinks...very expensive too bubble world......more variety to pick @ bubble world, atleast pearl drops have good desserts........make the bubble tea like $3-4 dollars each and dessert and food only $6-8.....if you make the prices lower, I think more people will come
I'd rate their cheesecake here a solid 7.5/10. Although the teeny portion is probably why I won't be ordering it again. I would say in Burnaby, there is also better value out there for teas.
As soon as I found out that this place uses fresh ingredients I knew I had to check it out. Definitely met and exceeded my expectations!
Not only are the drinks fresh, portions are huge so they get points on value as well. As a bonus, they make their own desserts! Awsome service, and for a first timer, very impressed with the girl that ensured that ehatever drink we chose, if we didnt like it,...

Had no idea there was bubble tea here until now.
Parking is available in a small little lot just S of this place. If this lot is full, there's also parking on Hastings, or another larger lot 1 block E of here.
I wasn't sure what their theme was. It seemed somewhat Taiwanese, but also somewhat Canadian. Couldn't quite put my finger on it. The staff seemed to speak both Mandarin and English...

I have been here many times. I like this local place coz it's in my old hood. Their selection of drinks is unparalleled. Plus, I'd say they have really taken their marketing to a new level. They are always offering new promotions and deals, and they really cater to a student crowd.
My fav drink is Oasis, which many of my fellow #604insomniacs would agree, is quite delicious. It is a blend of...

This place has gotten a lot better since the old owner left. The new one has established this place and have properly aimed their target market to teenagers though.. LOLs.
I don't mind coming here from time to time, and their drinks are affordable. It is considered to be the only boba place in all of Burnaby Heights area. I only come here to pick up a drink and then leave, as this place...

I'm not a bubble tea person. I think the calorie count is way too high for something that doesn't taste mindbogglingly good. But I may have been converted.
A girlfriend and I were looking for a place to sit and chat so we decided to stop here. The service was incredibly friendly and since it was our first time here, they took the time to explain how to order, what are the specials and what...

Heard a lot about this place and finally had the chance to visit last week.
It definitely lived up to the hype. My standard green apple green tea w/ pearls was def better than most places. I love how this place puts a greater emphasis on tea flavouring opposed to the artificial flavours (says the guy who orders one of more artificial drink flavours). But once u give this place a try u'll...

It can be as high as 13 dollars for two bubble teas if you want jellies or whatever in it. Because of the price, I rarely go to this place. I only go to this one if I absolutely want to avoid driving to the metrotown area.
It is somewhat out of the way during the week in Burnaby, however. The reason I got this Living Social coupon is that I haven't seen very many bubble tea houses on sale. I wanted to try and get the guy I am dating into bubble tea without scaring him too much with those oversized pearls. He was content with his iced strawberry lemon tea with very cute star shaped mango jelly pieces on the... more
The bubble tea drinks are too watery for my taste since the pearls are too warm which melts the slushy. That was for the take-outs. Went back again but too early for the pearls so I grabbed the lychee bits. Definitely much better this time around.
Pretty good cheesecake though.
Absolutely delicious, FRESH teas made to order! All I could say as I enjoyed my green tea lychee coconut jelly fresh fruit latte was "yum"! The tea was so floral and fragrant! We also enjoyed the not-to-be missed strawberry cheesecake! The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Worth a try...you won't be disappointed!
Love their cheesecakes~tea latte~ very flavorful~
A great place to enjoy time with friends or alone~~
Will definitely come back to try cold beverages in summer^^
I've been going to Pearl Drops since it was opened approximately 5 years ago. The current ownership group is not the original owners but they've done a great job keeping to the beliefs.
Their BubbleTea can't be compared to anyone else. I've watched them make the actual tea for my drink and I've never seen that anywhere else before. They take the extra time and effort to ensure that your drink...

When Pearl Drops first opened and I desperately searched for bbtea in the area, I was happy to find this place. When I tried the matcha milky shake, it was the best bbtea I had. When I tried the taro matcha milky shake, it was the new best bbtea I ever had. This was several years ago. It sounds like Phong, the original Asian owner no longer owns it. This makes sense because I have noticed the... more
Modern Bubble tea place. My favourite place to visit for bubble tea in Burnaby. I love the selection of different types of freshly brewed teas they offered. More than the plain ol' black or green tea. Service was nice and the man offered suggestions.
Menu is a bit overwhelming at first because of the number of choices. I usually pick the special they have a photo of on the counter.
In Burnaby, especially North Burnaby-this place can't be beat. They advertise that they use less sugar than most other places, and I can taste the difference. I also like that I can order it without ice cream on those days when I've already indulged and don't want to feel more guilty. I haven't been to any other bubble tea places that let you customize without flat out declining, giving you a... more
The non-asian runned bubble tea place is a great place for tea but it needs work on their other drinks. They have other drinks which other bbt places have but it seems to be lacking the taiwanese spark which most bbt places have. They only serve drinks. The place is pretty quiet but busy enough to have a few people streaming in every 10 minutes. Maybe that's why there is only one person working... more
A welcoming breath of fresh air when it comes to bubble tea joints. While other places try to put out as many bubble teas as they can, Peral drops favours quality over quantity. Each time I've been there, the tea was made with care and apparently fresh ingredients. (I'm not so sure anymore, most of the bubble tea is now made in the back room) The taste hasn't changed, and overall I'm still very... more
Recently I haunt written any reviews for my votes but this was so bad I had to write. I ordered the hazelnut latte or whatever their hazelnut drink was. It was HORRIBLE. Tasted like bland water and super watered down taste of...milk? Horrible. Terrible. I've never had such a bad tasting drink this year. Service was slow too. Shall I also mention it's quite overpriced? I would rather go to T&T... more
Fresh and real is what comes to mind having the bubble tea here at this place. They are very well knowledged in the ingredients used to make all their drinks, from the fruits to the tea leaves, the staff they hire definately goes through a crash course in regards to the product sold. You usually think that entering one of these places, you will be greeted and served by an Asian (Chinese... more
BUBBLE TEA PLACE.
Quick! What comes to mind?
Taro. Slushies. Bubbles. Asian-run - particularly by Chinese people (woot woot!). Milky-tea this, Calprin that. Walk-in. Order. Get served. That's it. (And this point, you either bring your drink to a table to sit, or leave.)
Well let me tell you about this one experience at Pearl Drops that well, blew my bubbles away. When I walked up to the...

Aww... the flavour of the bubble tea here completely changed!
They still use fresh ingredients. It's obvious, you can taste it right away. But they subtracted an ingredient of some sort that they added into the fruit slushes because the strawberry slush we go this afternoon tasted different. It wasn't bad... it just wasn't the same great flavour we were used to. It wasn't as sweet and the...

I have a lot of bubble tea an this place is way over priced for one. Two they are cacasian people who serve you. Three it tastes terrible!
After having gone here twice, I feel confident in finally reviewing this place. For a bubble tea house, this place is modern-looking. The friendly guy behind the counter has been helpful in entertaining my questions with regards to ingredients and food preparation. The not-too-sweet drinks could have been perfect if only the accompanying pearls were sweetened.
The good:
- Friendly service.

I had the plain milk tea with pearls and my friend had the strawberry green tea. THey were mediocore. My pearls were tasteless and my tea was bland. My friend's strawberry green tea was interesting, since it had pieces of strawberry jam like thingys floating in it, but the drink itself was alright. The wait time at that place is absolutely ridiculous. There was only one person working when we... more
They say: Contemporary Asian tea house. Hand-crafted brewed teas at your service.
I say: I like the tea guy behind the counter, he is a fervent tea drinker so he knows his bleep. First place to pioneer wide selection of pearls and jellies in the lower mainland (e.g. strawberry jelly).
i.Heart: Anything matcha. My fave rave is Matcha Redbean Milky Shake with pearls (yes, with pearls :P).
