Paula's seafood was delicious and very fairly priced. The service was prompt, friendly and consistently attentive. Paula visits with her customers and is very friendly. An excellent experience!!
We had eaten perch the day before at Birdies Perch and it was wonderful and we thought we'd try Paulas so we dropped in for dinner with our grandaughters, ordered 2 perch baskets, kids fish and chips and grilled cheese and chips. Meals arrived and all the fries were drenched in oil and overcooked, the fish was slimy with oil... more
After a drenching day at Point Pelee our group of 4 dropped in for lunch. We were seated promptly in spartan setting as the outside deck was closed for rain. Service was immediate but very slow afterwards. The food came out hot and was standard fare but tasty and properly cooked. A good place to fill a hunger but not... more
We have been going to Paula's Fish Place while on vacation at Point Pelee for many years. Of all the restaurants their Perch is consistently the very best in the area. Their coleslaw is amazing and the clubhouse sandwich is excellent!! Donna, our regular waitress is very friendly and provides fantastic service and always remembers our preferences when we return... more
My wife and I were visiting her uncle who happens to live right by Paula's and seven of us headed over for dinner on our first evening. The uncle suggested the perch basket so we didn't even bother with the menu and went with his recommendation. What did we think of the meal? A few days later, we went back... more
Okay, there was a delay in getting our dinners but the waitress was very apologetic and we got a free dessert. The food was great and worth the wait. Later I discovered that I had left my credit card at the restaurant and called them after closing hours around 10:15 pm. They would stay until I picked it up because... more
We walked in 6 adults, 9 children btw 10-17. We were first quickly to be told they could not be seated outside, fine, then they said they didn't know if they could seat inside...??? There were two parties inside the whole restaurant on a Saturday night at 7pm. Then we helped them pull tables together and we finally sat (there... more
Great service - wonderful perch lunch - portions were pretty big. Prices are reasonable. Just at the entrance to Point Pelee Park. Warm, friendly atmosphere. Sat inside the restaurant overlooking a beautiful grass/garden area, windows open, and a nice lake breeze blowing gently through the restaurant.
Refreshing to be at a small town restaurant where service is a priority. Great...

Was in Detroit visiting my son and we took a day trip to Windsor and then on to Point Pelee National Park. Beautiful day and we left the park hungry and ready for food. We thought we would drive back to Windsor to eat but saw Paula's Fish Place right out of Park's entrance. it was a real pleasure to... more
Great place for fish and other delicious dishes! Nice to have your dinner outside and try the lovely desserts.
My wife and I had just finished an impromptu trip through Point Pelee National Park and wanted lunch. Just a short distance outside the park we found this place. I checked Yelp! and it had a reasonable rating so we said let's try it.
It was a warm Sunday, so we chose the outdoor seating option. They had live entertainment,...

In for a Sunday afternoon Brunch/Lunch. Busy place with only 1 waitress but she managed to greet, seat & meet everybody just the same. Informal atmosphere with very tasty food, probably the best perch we've had in Essex county. Price was reasonable, service friendly. I'd go back in a heartbeat!
Good location if visiting Point Pelee. VERY long, disorganized. Great selection of items, but all ruined by deep frying!
My wife and I drove from Windsor to try the fish. No reservation, but they found us a table anyway with just a twenty minute wait. The staff is exceptionally friendly, finding time to visit with each patron. We had the clam chowder to start (it would take second place to no one's) followed by a very crisp cold slaw. The... more
Paula's is one of the many great restaurants to get local fish dinners on Lake Erie. It is a simple restaurant nothing fancy but clean and a very friendly staff. A nice variety of meals if you don't eat fish like my husband. The perch is amazing, they have good specials as well. The back room overlooks a garden area, with birdfeeders and... more
Paula's used to be the place to go if you wanted a nice fish dinner or lunch. The salad bar at dinner came with the meal and it was very nice and the place was often packed. Now no salad bar and the prices have shot way up and many people we have talked to feel the quality of the... more
Both of us had the pickerel and it was delicious, friendly staff and quick service. Pricing was reasonable. Pelee Island wines were good. Had lemon merengue pie for desert and it was freshly made and delicious. Close to Point Pelee National Park is a bonus. This is a seasonal restaurant that is closed for the winter but worth trying in... more
You walk inside and it stinks of old grease and fish. Bathrooms were very dirty and gross. Service was good. Time for a fresh coat of paint, some cleaning and level the bathrooms.
We stopped here after visiting Point Pelee. We had perch and pickerel and thought both were very good. I also really liked the slaw. We had a nice waiter and service was efficient. We were a little late and there were about 3 other groups of diners besides us. I noticed a perfect meringue pie as we were going to... more
From the moment we arrived until the moment we left, it was one abomination after another. One of our dining companions was in a wheel chair and as he waited at the front door for the rest of us he was told to "move out of the way, they are busy and he was in the way". As if this... more
Have eaten at Paula's over the years and it seems they are trying to upgrade their service but the food is nothing special.
Might be a good idea if they concentrated on their food rather than servers dressed up.
Although convenient to Point Pelee National Park, there are better options if wanting good food.
Sorry Paula's
My husband and I both had perch for lunch and it was very good. It was really busy, but the waitress was very friendly and efficient and the food was definitely worth the wait!!
It was a nice bonus that we could have our lunch outside on the patio.
Best restaurant in Leamington in my opinion!
The perch lunch was lovely, four of the five of us ordered this and never had better. Soup included fresh vegetables and substantial pieces of chicken, salad was also excellent. The two negative reviews I read could well have been written by the competition, they were so much at variance with all the others. I might add that staff were... more
stopped by here last week , place could use a restaurant makeover, the waitress was very good but the food was nothing special. The perch lunch special was nothing better than Pat and hanks fish and chips. Also you would think a specialty fish place would have its own home made tartar sauce not just a name brand bottle on... more
Yes there is lots of food but for me it was tooo greasy. OK for an occasional meal but not up to what it could be. Pies are good if you want dessert.
Food was great best perch i have ever had! I would go back in a heart beat! I ordered the special which was the combination of perch and pickerel! both fish were delicious! they have there own home cut fried!! To die for!!!! and to start with I had there homemade coleslaw!!!!! i would recommend this place to anyone!!! great... more
I had the perch and pickerel special. The perch was ok but the pickerel tasted fishy. I don't know if this is because the fish was not fresh or if it was cooked with the skin still on. Additionally, one would think that the restaurant, being in the tomato capital of Canada, would have nice fresh local tomatoes in their... more
A lot of places in this region use a thick batter that soaks up a lot of oil and conceals what is actually a small piece of fish, but I liked Paula's Fish Place because their batter is thin, crispy, not greasy, and actually complements the flavor of the fish. I had their yellow perch dinner and my husband had... more
My husband and I recently spent few days birding at Point Pelee and visited Paula' Fish Place for a late dinner. The staff was friendly; they prepared dinner for us although it was closing time and we were the only ones in the restaurant. Our food was ok, yellow perch and pickerel, although the salad was not fresh and the... more
My wife and I recently spent a week birding at Point Pelee and visited Paula's for dinner on 4 occasions.
Staff are very attentive and friendly and help to give the place that small town, neighbourly feel.
Yellow perch, pickerel, salmon and chicken fettuccini recommended.
After our first visit ever in the Park just an excellent lunch of yellow perch basket with home cut fries and coleslaw.
Certainly happy with Paula's convenient location for tourists and that we didn't go with the review of the apparently disgruntled local below!
I loved the yellow perch and fresh cut fries! The batter on the fish was light and it melted in my mouth. Everyone loved their food. It's the best fish I've had at a restaurant. Also, the service was great too!
Not one of my favourite places...the fish was very greasy and smelly. The restaurant is not clean in my opinion...they try hard but locals are not the ones who eat there....it's in a prime location for tourists...very busy during birding season....beach season....sorry but won't return.
Just to let everyone know, Paula's will be re-opening Friday March 8, 2013 from 11:30 am to 9:00 pm for the season so excited. Been a long winter, missed her fresh perch, pickerel and homemade fires. Can't wait to see what's new on the menu this year. Heard she added more perch to the luncheon perch whoo hoo can't wait.
i was just doing a follow up to see when paula's re opens, and noticed this comment about the sea food chowder, And was surprised to read that paula's server a sea food scowder beacause im there when they are open weekly and have never had a chance to eat a sea food chowder form there look forward to them... more
Thought I should share this, I was looking for a good Fish place with a varitety and I was told to go to Paula's in Leamington all I can say is thank-you it was wonderful I had the yellow perch, a nice light breading on her perch and my husband had the grilled pickerel ......amazing. My fiancee and I were en route to Point Pelee and decided to stop in for a mid-afternoon meal. I ordered the seafood chowder to start and the main course being perch. Attended again today and as usual, the yellow lake perch was exactly what we wanted and have come to expect. The staff have come to know us but treat us... more
We stopped at Paula for lunch on a Sunday at the end of the season and were welcomed with warmth and excellent service.

we had lunch at Paula's a few Sunday ago and enjoyed it very much.. This place should be closed! I ordered the yellow perch. The first piece was poor the second piece was beach fish in july rotten. Yes it was so bad it almost made the people around me and myself ill. please avoid getting ill eat elsewhere. Gross.
sat out on the deck, had some frog legs... I prefer them panfried, these once were deep fried.. but still good.. you dont find frog legs in to many places.. and a good entertainer.
Bland perch, dry salmon, over-battered pickerel, lousy salad, gross fries.......need I say more?
To the folks who own this place.....Hire a new cook!
Do yourself a favour and skip this place.
Went here for the All you can eat perch and chicken on Wednesday night. The fish and chicken were superb. The soup was great. And the staff went overboard to make sure you had enough perch and chicken.
Just did a take out here of there basic perch and fries. Perch was tasty but pretty tiny portion. When you are on Lake Erie and order perch you expect a little more.
Close to Point Pelee National Park. Lake Erie is across the street but you can't see much of it. They specialize in Fresh Lake Erie Yellow Perch and Pickerel. I had the combination plate consisted of lightly breaded perch, pickerel and shrimp. It was very good. The garlic mashed potatoes were lacking flavor and the clam chowder was a major... more
She has great food but small portions.
Very convenient location to stop on the way to our from point pelee; however, I would go out of my way for other near by resturants.
The location is a bit out of the way if you are not a birder, which we are not, almost at the entrance to Point Pelee Park. We were very pleasantly surprised by the dining room overlooking a garden at the back, with a lot to look at - quite a collection of garden ornaments, and a number of bird... more
This place has changed ownership many times. It has been renovated,
