History
Established in 1973
The first Irish pub in ottawa.
Ottawa is flush with Celtic-flavored pubs, but they are not all alike. Patty's Pub, an Irish restaurant and bar located on Bank and Ossington, just south of the Glebe, is a little different than the others. Good service, delicious and unique food and a comfortable atmosphere distinguish Patty's from the rest.
This is one of those places that I can't get enough of. I always have a good time here. The staff now even recognizes me and that always feels good. Great food and service, for sure!
I like this place. It's got a warm feeling, wood swivel chairs along the bar,
and quaint furniture on the sit down side.
1/2 price wing night (twice a week) is what usually draws me in, along with
Kilkenney cream ale on draft - my ideal "wing beer".
The wings are pretty good - the price is just a bonus.
Generally service is great here, unless you get the server who in recent visits has seemed...

If I could get a degree in drinking from this place..I'd have it in the 14 years I've been coming here. Also the local watering hole to all the students that live on residence at nearby Carleton University! What keeps suckering me into it now is the half-price wing-night Mon-Wed (or is it Mon-Tues?). Classic Irish bar with a great beer selection and traditional Irish pub food. The food isn't... more
Been coming here on and off for a few years... since I keep going back it must be an A OK place. My teammates and I go every Monday during volleyball season in the Summer (which has just come to an end) - they support our team by providing a discount on our team's purchases so that we can hopefully have a team dinner for next to free (we spend a pretty good amount over the Summer). The servers... more
Tried this place out and was pleasantly surprised. Prices were a little bit high for a pub but food was great and service was quick!
We were on our way to another restaurant when we spotted Patty's and made some quick turns to get to it. The interior lives up to expectation and has lots of cute knick knacks and antiques. The service was great and the menu options wider than expected. The tables are small for food service, especially when they place the condiment... more
I've heard alot of good things about this place from many people over the years.
We stopped in for dinner a couple of weeks on our way to an event, and were rather pleased with the food and service from the waitress. It was nice to see them serving more local brews on tap and not just serving 20 different forms of the same drink.
Not something we'll go out of our way for, but still a nice...

Absolutely delicious. We had the kimchee fries and the nut burger. Along with a couple craft beers. The blueberry one was tasty. A little dark inside the restaurant. Service was also very good. Definitely will return.
They have some serious kickass fries in here, and the atmosphere is top notch.
This is the main pub I always went to in Ottawa and there is a reason for it, good service, good atmosphere and fantastic food.
But seriously, the fries are deadly good, I can't stop eating them.
We have been here several times. The food is terrific with large portions. Service is always pleasant. Decor is old but fine for an Irish pub atmosphere. If we lived closer this would be our regular place. Great for special nights out.
I've been here many times for lunch and have never been disappointed. The food is really good. The drinks and service have always been good too. The fish and chips are one of the best I've had. The curry is good, liver is really nice and portions are generous. I don't think there is anything on the menu that is... more
Great authentic pub with tones of character. Awesome food that is created from scratch and not frozen. The beer selection is perfect too. Definitely recommend trying a pint of the Ashton Brewing Company.
Wow, never would have expected such a terrible experience, this was my second time here in two years and Jake was utterly disrespectful I wouldn't have believed it, all of a sudden he accused our party of five of bringing In kids to the bar and said we did it all the time I have no idea where this came... more
Wing nights are a monthly affair among my friends. And we always go to patty's pub. Great staff make u feel welcome and at ease. Wings are cripsy and perfectly cooked.
Great food, cool ambiance, great service! One of favorites that we keep going back to everytime we want good drinks, variety of beers and good food. I LOVE their nachos!
I've eaten lunch here many times and everything I've tried so far is good, not the usual greasy bland pub food that you usually get. The liver is so good, also try the curry, or the salads or a number of other things. The burgers are huge and tasty. The fish and chips are excellent, not swimming in grease like... more
This is a place where you can sidle up to the weathered old bar & drink stout all day & order semi authentic old world pub classics to eat or the newer food fare found at all knock off pubs. This... more
I am not a huge fan of pubs but I really enjoy Patty's Pub. I love the ambience in the place, the old-rustic feel. I also really appreciate that the tables are further away from other guests so you don't feel like your having dinner with strangers, like many other restaurants or pubs. The fire place is a really nice addition, it makes the spot feel really cozy.
Servers here have always been...

This is a place that residents of the area drop into for a beer with friends. It's a spacious, standard, fake-pub-style setting, no different from the thousands of others that have popped up in Canada over the last 30 years or so. If the emphasis is English, they'll be the Royal Oak or the Duke of Here or There or... more
Patty's Pub is just that...a pub. Nice place to grab a pint or two. Food is typical pub fare, nothing special...but not too dear. Staff are nice and friendly. Sit in the snug if you can get it.
This is kind of my neighbourhood pub where I can always get a good meal and Guiness. The decor is a little tired, nice patio, TV screens to catch some sports. The service is good. They have a full menu of Irish and regulate fare-I always go back
The food is absolutely amazing. You get a large portion for your money, and you don't feel like they are skimping out on anything!
The staff are very friendly, and not all over you, but there enough if you need something!
Patty's is our go-to place anytime we eat out!
We visit Patty's frequently. I know what I like, especially the Shepherds's Pie, with which I also ask for a side of broccoli, because for some reasone they serve a bun with this yummy home-fodd instead of veg, Occasionally, they feature a good salnon dish with leek and tarragon sauce. However, the regular menu salmon with (yuk) maple syrup is... more
Patty's has a real pub feeling; it is not a cookie-cutter Irish pub. The pub feels like it has been around for ages--and it has a fireplace which I just love! Not to mention, part of the decor include some old books, which is pretty awesome. This is the kind of place you can stop in for a quick pint or enjoy an evening with friends.
The drink selection is good. The food is typical of a pub and...

If you are planning to show with a small group of friends, well the place is probably all right. Decor was a friendly pub style atmosphere. My issue was when there were reservations ahead of time for the 12 of us, they had plenty of warning and should have been more prepared. We came in for a later morning breakfast... more
We leave a few blocks away, so we end up eating here every couple of weeks with the kids. The food is just ok. Fish and Chips were awful. We did finally find something that was delicious; THE WINGS: they are crispy and nice. Nice wait staff. Tuesday night is wing night at Pattys. It is your typical Irish pub.... more
outstanding burgers and fries, great atmosphere, very old school pub feel, worn floorboards etc. - definite returning for more of the same.
I spend a lot of time at Patty's. The food can be a bit hit and miss. When it's hitting, it is a great mixture of relaxed atmosphere, good food and good drink. When it misses, the food can be disappointing and a bit overpriced. They have a great beer selection for a neighbourhood pub, and their kegs always seem... more
I am rating this restaurant very good in comparison to similar restaurants of the same type.
The menu is true Irish pub fare and is tasty and reasonably priced. There is a huge selection of beers on tap as well as a decent list of wines by the glass.
I ordered a boxty, as I had never had one before. It...

Visited this place yesterday and I have to say it is a true authentic Irish pub. The selections of beers is great and they have their own Ashton Brewery, along with a great selection of local and international beers. I am not a beer drinker but the two pros I had along found a few varieties they enjoyed. On the food side I had the fish and chips and the smoked salmon served with potato pancakes... more
The atmosphere was really friendly and homey. There seemed to be a number of regulars at the restaurant which I think always bodes well.
I had the Irish Pasty which was absolutely delicious and my boyfriend had the peppercorn steak which came with a heap load of veggies and he said we cooked well and was very good.

Really late in reviewing this place but we came by here in the summer after a volleyball game to grab a few pints. We were seated outside and our server came to take our drink order and dropped off some menus. My summarized experience:
Pros
- N/A
Cons
- 25-30 minutes to get pints.
- Absentee waitress.
- Food order took 45 minutes, isn't bad since they had to cook the food and not pour it out...

Patty's is a great place to grab a few pints and a couple pounds of wings (they have wing specials 3 nights a week). Can accommodate large groups. They've also got a wide selection of pub-fare that tends to be pretty good.
Patty's is a great place to go during the week for cheap wings. I find their wings to be delicious and a fair price when it is wing night. This bar has an Irish feel to it with a general crowd of students or your typical Irish drinkers.
There's a plethora of Irish pubs in Ottawa, and while a lot of them are alike and dangerously close to becoming cookie clutter, Patty's is not one of them.
It's plush, cozy interior, with dark wood walls and a fireplace adds to a homely atmosphere. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the food is decent. You can even find a few authentic Irish food like the boxty, an Irish dish made by...

If I'm at Patty's Pub, it's usually because a few minutes or hours ago, I felt in the mood for a good place to sit with friends and talk. But I think this pub would accommodate a wide variety of customers and groups.
They have a decent variety of beer and a really great selection of food with choices you don't often see in a typical pub menu. Of course, they have nachos, wings, burgers and...

A friend came into town from the old country and I wanted to take him to an Ottawa version of an authentic Irish pub. We walked down Bank Street for a while and instantly gravitated towards Patty's Pub. It has the standard selection of beers you would expect a good pub to carry - Stella, Guinness, and that Canadian gem of a beer Creemore Springs. We found the staff friendly and helpful. The... more
Good wings, fantastic atmosphere.
Barstaff leaves a bit to be desired though. Last time I ordered a dry matrini, I was asked how to make it. To be fair, it's a pub, not a bar. Good selection of beers.
We meet friends for drinks there we all had a great time and a good place to have it
Really great bar. The staff are really nice and the atmosphere is totally enjoyable. Everytime I am in Ottawa, this is one place that I have to stop in and enjoy their great food. This is a must try and you won't be disapointed! Don't forget to try the appetizer...the wings are really good!
