Set in a decor inspired by its old stone walls, Le Patriarche is pleased to welcome you. Imbued with a unique architectural cachet, this 1827 heritage home-turned-restaurant has been serving discerning gourmets since 1965.
We went there to celebrate our first year of wedding.
At first, i was not really convinced of my husband's choice. But I changed my mind at the instant I tasted the first meal. This lobster bisque was unforgettable!
Everything comes in trilogies… If you choose the scallop for a starter, you will receive 3 plates, 3 ways to eat it. Same thing for the principal meal and for dessert. Yes I ate 3 times too much, but the foie gras, the venison, the Quebec lamb… Believe me, it worth it! They served us a glass of wine, beautifully paired with each service.
It's not cheap, but it's worth the 3 hours of happiness and discovery you will have.
We already planned to return on next year.

My wife and I arrived on a Sunday night with no reservations, and learning that they would be closed on Mondays during the low season, decided to dine there on the spur of the moment. We had previously read the reviews in TripAdvisor, so we knew what to expect and what to pay. I had the lamb trilogy and my... more
Simply gorgeous French restaurant, ideal for splurging on a special occasion. Do the tasting menu - well worth it! We could barely roll out the door and up the hill to our hotel! Food is beautifully prepared and presented. LOVED the bison and the caribou, each prepared three ways. Imaginative and interesting menu. A must when visiting Quebec. Have since... more
We wanted a local restaurant to sample wild game at. This was the mission. We've been in QC for about 4 days, and walked past so many places... this one seemed just right. The MaitreD was very kind and gave us a table after apologizing that we had to wait five minutes (this was a busy saturday evening, and we... more
After reading these reviews for Le Patriache, call up the Le Patriarche (with a second "r") page for the full story on this Quebec City restaurant. The restaurant's name is Le Patriarche, and it's probably the finest french restaurant in Quebec at the moment. My review can be found on the Le Patriarche page --- suffice it to say that... more
I insisted on going to this restaurant after reading reviews on tripadvisor where as my husband was a little hesitant since he was in the mood for a steak that night. We made reservations and head out that night, not really sure what to expect. We have been to many fine dining restaurants across the globe, but this experience was... more
Le Patriarche's dishes all come in trios which is kind of fun. Salmon three ways. Lamb three ways. Three kinds of wild animals. Even the deserts -- chocolate and strawberries all three ways. We got the full 5-course meal and really enjoyed ourselves. The full meal meant you got the soup course, which was tremendous. We actually found the appetizer... more
From the charming dining room to the creative, flavorful, elegantly presented, threesomes of delight! - this was one of the finest meals we have ever had. The Partridge appetizer, shared maindishes of caribu and boar, through to the "Death by chocolate" - every plate was deliscious, every preparation a joy to experience. Tres magnifique!
My husband and I recently enjoyed a five course meal at Le Patriache, absolutely no complaints! We don't normally eat wild meat but everything was extremely flavorful and well prepared, definitely recommend.
lovely restaurant with friendly staff. The food sounded more interesting on the menu than it was - no great flavor, even the escargots were tasteless
Le Patriarche is a full dining experience. I have been a few times over the past few years and it seems to get better and more self-assured. Be prepared, it is not cheap. There may be simple menus presented, but the main affair is five services. The principal parts (starter, main and dessert) are typically trios (triples of smallish combinations).... more
I read all the reviews on TripAdvisor and my husband and I made reservations to eat at La Patriarche after a long day in QC. The interior of the restaurant is warm, and we were promptly seated near the windows. We chose the 5 course meal and were not disappointed; the presentation was exquisite as was the food - with... more
Each main entree (i.e. chicken, game, fish, etc) is presented three different ways. I had the game, which included wild boar, red deer and elk. Each choice was sauced and accompanied by unusual veggies. A most interesting and delicious treat! I wish I could say the same for the service, which was restrained to the point of being disdainful. We... more
No way to tell if the food was great, it looked nice from the outside. We made reservations 2 weeks in advance for a Tuesday and were all confirmed. When we showed up the restaurant was dark, and there were two other couples standing outside who had the same problem not only that night, but the year before when they... more
fantastic restaurant with wonderful service and outstanding food. decor is pleasant (had a window seat) with an "old world feel" to it. overall great experience and hope to revisit soon.
Outstanding in every realm. Atmosphere, food and service were all excellent and left little to be desired. If your looking for a great gourmet meal in the city then this is a definete stop. Atmosphere is quaint and the menu is interesting offering everything from duck & seafood to wild game and wild boar. A little pricey but well worth... more
We will long remember our dinner at Le Patriache as the best meal we have ever experienced. Our evening at Le Patriache made our trip to Quebec City worthwhile. My wife and teenage daughter and I all enjoyed our meals. The celery soup was to die for. The service was impeccable. Get the five course meal and enjoy the evening.... more
Everything comes in 3's at Le Patriarche. Order lamb as a main course, and you'll get it prepared in 3 different way, beautifully presented. The same is true for appetizers. We found the food a little uneven; everything was beautiful, but not everything was equally delicious. For a sophisticated and splurgy meal, we enjoyed L'Initiale more. Still, the food was... more
My wife and I went here for our first year wedding anniversary. We had walked by this restaurant many many times and never really paid attention. Well we should have!!! As soon as you enter the atmosphere is very welcoming with the old stone walls and an intimate setting. Our service was the best I have experienced in quite some... more
This restaurant is a very special destination. Stone walls and a fireplace on each floor. Regional food but done in an extremely elegant way. You feel like you are looking at (and tasting) presentations from Iron Chef. Some of the best food I have ever eaten. Service was unfailingly correct and prompt.
We went to Le Patriache after reading the reviews off this site. We ordered the Table D'hote (adding $25 to your main course creating a 5 course meal). It was incredible, the lovely atmosphere, our amazing server who wasn't stuffy and overbearing. The restaurant is located on a side street which made it much more cozy. I intend on telling... more
One of the best restaurants we've eaten at in several years. The food was awesome. Loved how you were given three items for each portion of the meal. Though I do wish there were more choices for main courses. The dessert - Death By Chocolate heavenly. Services could have been better. Also, there is no wine by the glass or... more
We were wandering, searching for a good meal on New Year's Eve, when we happened in this restaurant and asked if they had anything available. The Maitre'd greeted us very kindly and showed us their special menu for the evening which was an 8 course meal. We told him we weren't that hungry and were about to leave when he... more
We were surprised to find eateries on rue St. Jean limited largely to pizza, pasta, steak-and-fries ... until we wandered just a few steps to this little gem. We were attracted by the very reasonable "summer menu" but soon learned that we could adapt it with great flexibility to include other treats from their many inviting offerings, The result was... more
What a fun night. Yes it's expensive but when you compare the extra you spend for this meal with what you would spend elsewhere in qc, it's well worth it. The menu and presentations are different and fun. The servings with three variations of each theme give a tremendously varied taste. Given the variety of servings, not everyone in our... more
This outstanding restaurant offers each item three ways, beautifully presented and perfectly prepared. The owner was our server, an added treat. M. Colin knows his wines, his business and his city! We ordered an appetizer to share, the Claw meat and Yukon Gold potato, Lobster tartare in fennel jelly with bisque foam Lobster medallion, beet and raspberry chutney. This dish speaks... more
The best meal my wife and I have ever had in a restaurant, and we are not wild game connoisseurs by any stretch. We ordered the five-course table d'hote, which took nearly three hours to serve. But the time flew by, mostly thanks to our outstanding server, Alexandre. He was very friendly and knowledgeable, and very willing to help us... more
I have eaten her a couple of times. Bashing a restaurant because it was closed on a particular night when it apparently should have been open, has little, if anything, to do with the service inside, the atmosphere, the food or wine. For the things that really matter this restaurant was excellent. I have had rack of lamb in quite... more
Returned fron our first "Quebec Carnaval" experience. We had read reviews of Le Patriache and since have previously been to Laurie Raphael and Panache, we thought we would try Le Patriache. We were very happy with our choice. Each appetizer, entree and dessert is served in a "trio". Most are 3 variations of the basic ingredient. It was Excellent! I... more
We found a publicity in the Quebec city guide in our room. The picture of dining room was beautiful and the menu interesting. We wanted wild game and a different idea of local food. Wild boar and wild game trilogy . Presentations where spectacular and vegetables good but our meat was a little bit on the chewy side and undercook... more
This was an interesting experience, in that I encountered something I had never encountered before, while dining in a fine restaurant. More on that in a second.... First about me, I don't like to call myself a foodie, but I think I am anyway. I routinely search out Michelin star restaurants and my world travel always has a strong culinary... more

My boyfriend and I made reservations at Le Patriarche for our first Valentine's together and it was everything we wanted and more. We sat downstairs, where all the tables were set for two. There were red roses, the lighting was romantic and a mix of Norah Jones and light jazz was playing - upstairs the tables were set for larger... more
This is a charming little restaurant off a main street with ancient stone walls and white linen. A fireplace in the dining area adds immeasurably to the ambiance especially on a cold wet evening. The food comes in "threes" so if you order the wild boar starter it will come prepared three different ways (very small portions, so not to... more
We spent a total of 4 hours of pure pleasure at this restaurant. Everything from the service to the innovative way of presenting delicious food was impeccable. We went here for our 20th Wedding Anniversary accompanied by our friends and we all agree that this is the best food we have ever partaken of. We have no negative comments to... more
Our party found this restaurant off the main Rue Saint-Jean. The establishment is a home turned restaurant. The downstairs dining room walls are stone with fantastic contemporary artwork . Each of us picked our favorite piece. The upstairs dining room is larger with a bar area and equally impressive artwork. The menu can be viewed from the outside. Initially I... more
We were surprised not to find this restaurant already listed on tripadvisor after two very nice meals here recently. We thought the cuisine here to be inventive and full of flavour. Each course is driven by a main ingredient, around which the chef creates three small dishes. The lobster starter was consistently delicious, although the scallop trio sometimes overpowered by... more
A few steps away from the hubbub of St-Jean Street, this quiet restaurant serves great French cuisine. The 19th-century stone house is soberly decorated with paintings and potted plants, and is a great place to spend a relaxing evening while enjoying traditional French food. Le Patriarche's plate of deer, caribou, and buffalo is a guaranteed pleasure, whether you discover these meats for the... more
In a beautiful old home that dates back to the 1820s, you'll find a charming respite from the pull of modernity. Indeed, inside the bare stone walls of Steeve and Alain Harrison's eatery, there's a certain sense of cozy familiarity, and the romantic, café-style tables only add to the intimate atmosphere. While French touches are present, the restaurant's featured entrées include regional... more
