Just had a fabby impromptu meal with my son. He had a hankering for their Penne Caruso and pestered me all afternoon ....it didn't take much for me to give in though as this is one of my favourite restaurants. Great service and food guys ..keep up the good work
This place is fantastic!!! I read some of the reviews on this website and i wonder how anybody could say anything bad about this place??? This is definitely my new and ultimate favorite spot in the city!
Had an unplanned quick supper. Restaurant clean, well lit. Service pleasant and efficient. I had the Penne Gigi, mild flavour and pasta nicely cooked. Served with large slice of garlic toast, the meal was hot and just the right amount. My dining partner had the lasagna, a favourite of his. Again, served piping hot, with a balanced flavour. The starter Cesar salad featured fresh greens and just... more
We got to Pasquales around 8 on a sunday night and it was pretty dead. First impression on the server was pretty bad. Our server was always in a hurry like she wanted to go home already. One of the people that was with us needed more time to decide what he wanted and this irritated the server who after coming over about twice, came the third time and said "this is the last time I'm coming so u... more
This is one of the best Veal dishes I have ever had. It is stuffed veal with a choice of pasta.
love their food they have very friendly staff it is a real italian restaurant pasquale the owner and chef is very friendly the hostess is very friendly their food is the real italian
I just wanted to let you know that dinner at your family's restaurant went extremely well and I want to thank you for helping us organize it. The server was most hospitable and helpful and I thought the fish dinner was very good. See you again in the near future
I had an expensive prawn dish and it had obviously been previously frozen, the prawns were pure mush. Pasta was so so, my husband had chicken which he felt had been previously cooked. The place was empty, so that should have been an indication not to eat there. Very expensive for that quality of food. This is definitely not fine dining as advertised. We eat out a lot and this was somewhere new,... more
Wicked service, great ambiance, fabulous taste, extensive variety on the menu
This is our home away from home when were looking for comfort food, the scampy is to die for, the boconcini is excellent and the service is like when your at your parents house. The staff really out do themselves making you feel comfortable and making you feel as if your part of their family. They are always around willing to help, they know their regulars and know what they are looking for... more
I have been to MANY italian restaurants in Calgary. Before you mention "Olive Garden", or "Old Spaghetti Factory", I must stop you from speaking before you embarrass yourself. This is one of the best Italian restaurants I have been to. The ambiance is great, and there are a number of authentic tasty dishes at a reasonable price. Some may find it expensive, but the cost is well worth it.
High prices and tiny portions--that's only okay when the food is exceptional, which it wasn't. The service left a lot to be desired as well--we were treated more as an inconvenience than a valued customer or guest. Won't be back.
This place is great. From the top quality food, to the great atmosphere, and wonderful service. Was definitely one of the best dining experiences ive had in this city. I was reading some of the other reviews and they dont even come close to giving this place justice, and anyone who doesnt like it needs to stop eating the c@!p food theyre used to so they can recognize quality... Very few places... more
by Felix (from Calgary) February 2011 - Fantastic Food! Awesome Service! Great Ambience! Only place in the city you leave feeling completely satisfied. You get more than you pay for, and there are so many items to choose from on their menu (which is a nice change for this city). Cant wait to go back!!!!
Unfortunately, our dining experience here was not amazing at all. The service was sooo slow, food was mediocre (at best) and we found it extremely overpriced. If you're going to serve food like East Side Mario's, it should be priced along the same lines... more
My first experience was 3 years ago and I wasn't impressed. The food came out cold and my request for my side to be made differently didn't come through. The server apologized, but was hesitant to take it back to the kitchen. I wasn't impressed and didn't bother for the correction - a bit chicken thinking it'll come back...special for me. Thinking that this place had one bad server, I decided... more
i love their food they have very friendly staffit is a real italian restaurantpasquale the owner and chef is very friendly isabella the hostess is very friendly their food is the real italian i liked that they letted me close the restaurant(August 1st 2010
I was surprised when I entered: a little dark and quiet..dark wood abounds and it is not the atmosphere of say Mercato..not a bad thing, just saying, be prepared. Wait staff was good; the proprietors son. He was very knowledgable and professional and when he heard us discussing zabaglione he apologized that it was no longer on the menu. However he returned one minute later and informed us that... more
I went there on a business lunch and enjoyed the Penne Caruso: penne in a nice rosé sauce with chicken, italian sausage and peppers. It was excellent, as was the nice garlic bread that accompanied this dish. My co-workers enjoyed a neat assortment of delicious sandwiches, awe-inspiring cannelloni, and marinated veal. The food was great, the setting is nice, and the wait staff seemed good with... more
The Calgary Sun admits they have been invited to Pasquales for the past 3 years...finally accepts and THEN gives them 4 out of 5? Is it a shock to anyone that the writer had a very positive experience? This is a bit of a sham. Pasquales may in fact be a great spot...so long as we all announce our presence as food writers/bloggers....ureviewcalgary.com
by Scott (from Calgary, Alberta) February 2009 - Resevation time was wrong. No bread, salad took over 30 min for boccini and tomato (tomato was not ripe). Meal took 1 hour. Veal Canneloni was filled with grissle and over cooked. Chicken order was wrong. We will not be returning.
I went to this restaurant not on purpose. However, they took us without reservations. Very nice atmosphere, the service was excellent. The manager was very nice, and friendly. I am not a wine expert. The Waiter offered me a taste before I committed to a glass. Nice idea. The food was quite good as well. Prices, very reasonable. I would definetly go back there again
by sam (from calgary) September 2008 - i enjoyed everything about this restaurant!!
by g (from calgary) September 2007 - As a group of six persons of various ages, all enjoyed our dinner at Pasquales last night. We had reservations and were met at the door by a freindly, smiling hostess who checked our coats and seated us immediately. Very good for a busy Friday night. The service was outstanding and friendly; the house wine was terrific and even a custom food order was... more
I recently ate at Pasquales for a group dinner. While the food was tasty ( I only had a spaghetti in basil tomato sauce), I was very unimpressed when I left the restaurant. I had to leave the group function early, so I left cash with another group member to pay for my portion of the bill. As I was walking to my car, I heard someone yelling "Ma'am" in a loud voice, and the waiter had chased... more

by kim (from calgary) January 2007 - my husband and i went here on a saturday b/c we couldn't get a seated anywhere else: now we know why there where seats available here! i had ordered the chicken neptune but was served the chicken parmesan; i was hungry so i ate it. i totally agree with the other review- it tasted like a frozen dinner. my husband had the sea-bass and at $29.99 a plate he was... more

by Nicki (from Calgary) November 2006 - Chicken/Penne dish I had was awful. One small chicken breast and a lump of Pasta for $26.95. Chicken breast was not fresh but a frozen one - you know, like the one's you buy from the grocery store that have that rubbery texture. A friend asked how it was and I commented that it was poor quality. The owner's daughter (who was already having a bad night)... more

by Ann (from Calgary) September 2006 - We have been to this restaurant several times in the past year, and always had superb meals and unbeatable service! It appears to be a family owned business with older, experienced servers and hostess, which possibly explains the high level of service.
