As per other reviews, the staff is not friendly and quite aggressive, I should say.
On top of that, I've seen many sexist signs for sale with ridiculous sayings such as "women spend their whole lives searching for the perfect man just to tell him he's wrong". C'mon, people, it's 2019. Stop this BS.
Absolutely fantastic stuff! Nothing but gems - I can always count on finding the perfect something. However, I totally agree with Sono, Vanessa, and Roy regarding the older lady who works there. I thought I must have done something to tick her off, but I see it's not just me.
yes this place gives the papery some stiff competiton stephen the owner has great taste in cards i should know i was buying cards at the papery 45 years ago from the original owner and am a big carder he also carries a few paula skene embossed from san francisco they are the classiest cards on the continent check them out if you don't know about them but be pre-warned they are pricey
Both clerks were extremely helpful, without being too interfering. I came in looking for a card with cows and they found three--sassy, sentimental, or straight-up bovine. I was offered a loyalty card--which they keep on the premises & will look up. This is clearly the place to come when I am looking for a card for a special someone! If you're getting to this by subway, take the south exit at the... more
Cute stuff, kind overpriced.
I agree with Roy, the staff is really off-putting.
Not inviting at all, almost feel like your presence is interrupting their day.
Good selection of gifts and knick-knacks, but the older female who works at the store can be off-putting. She was on a personal call and I had to wave her down so that I could pay, she did not tell me the total as she did not put her phone down, and did not say thank you...aside from her taking my credit card and giving me a receipt, she did not acknowledge me at all.
Thankfully, the gentleman...

I liked their selection, however I have a problem with their staff. They were off-putting towards me from the moment I entered. Not a fan of that.
This store has an excellent selection of cards and novelty items. Unfortunately, store staff were not only unhelpful to my 12 year old daughter when she went in by herself to buy her father a birthday card, but they were actually unkind. I used to love shopping in Paperboy but now I wont go in there again. Retailers need to treat young people with respect too.
I recently visited this store in search of a unique card for a friend. I thought the store was small but definitely filled up. The card selection was good and when I left I purchased three cards. I liked the fact that they had unique, funny cards. I loved the cheeky cards and those were exactly what I was looking for. I do wish there was more of a selection of cheeky, blunt, sarcastic cards for... more
I was referred on to this shop by Quo Vadis. I wanted to special order an item. The first day I called the owner wasn't in and I was abruptly told to call back. I called a second day and the owner still wasn't in. Nice job if you can get it. I left a message with one of his staff. I guess they can't do anything without him. That was in the morning. By the end of day I hadn't heard back.... more
The owner and staff are friendly, down-to-earth people. They welcome dogs in the store. They carry the BEST selection of cards, gifts, calenders, stocking stuffers for Xmas, all kinds of things. You always feel welcome and can spend as much time as you like. What a great store!
HOW has this place not been reviewed yet??? Weird! It's a great little boutique similar to other stores like Write Impressions, Outer Layer and Red Pegasus.
I love this place - this is where I send Mr. Rosie S. when he's clueless. I say, "Trust me. ANYTHING you buy for me there, I'll love." Makes things easy. Plus, it's true! It's a short walk from the St. Clair subway station, and right...
