Best Tortiere
August 08, 2014Tried eating here twice before but was unable due to timing as we arrived at closing time. Spoke with two ladies who had just finished lunch and they said that they were from Kingston and always ate at the Painted Peppercorn when visiting Picton. We dropped in on an evening when we were looking for something simple and summery. The owner was working outside getting things set up so we asked her about the restaurant. She very graciously described their philosophy of cooking (no deep fryer, all fresh ingredients, local whenever possible, etc!)

Great freshness, a wonderful find
June 15, 2014loved the freshness and taste of my choice (roast chicken wrap) as did my guest (pork meatpie) I chose the salad and the other choice was the soup, both were excellent....Great Value, less than $30 and more than generous servings.....so yummy that we ate every bite!

We stumbled upon The Painted Peppercorn by accident - we were hungry, looking for a lunch spot, and it was the closest one.

Did not like it
August 25, 2013The look of that place is not so neat, but we have read the reviews and decided to give it a try. We had a lunch at that place and the food was awful. I had hairs in my meal. For some strange reason they put fruit in you main dish. I am not comming back again.

A Quaint and Interesting Place

When you want a fresh home nade meal

We were on our way home from Kingston and stopped in Picton for lunch. We were lucky enough to stumble upon the Painted Peppercorn.

Love the local flavours
April 26, 2013Have eaten here on almost every visit to the county - their soups in the fall are amazing! Everything so full of flavour and fresh. Staff has always been friendly. Loads of character. Worth the effort to find - just off the main road. Park at the end of the street in the municipal parking.

Excellent lunch spot
February 09, 2013We found this place on the recommendation of a woman in a local clothing store. our lunch was absolutely delicious. amazing elk burger,delicious crepes, heavenly cheesecake. really friendly service. entrees are all 11 or 12 dollars. Good local beer and cider. this will definitely be a regular lunch spot now that we know about it!

My family will come to eat here at least once every time we go up to the family cottage in cherry valley. I love that basically everything on the menu is from local farms/wineries! Two thumbs up!

Good food
August 07, 2010Small place with a patio at the back. The food was very good. I had the red lentils wich were very tasty. The gazpacho was made with fresh ingredients and I wanted more. My wife got the burrito wich was huge and very good too. Home made key lime pie to top it off. Great service. Would definitely go back if we're ever in Picton again.
