wouldn't be bad if you didn't have to wait 25 + mins for a server to notice or care your at one of their tables... bad service every time I come here. Seems like no matter what server you get, they all take forever, and are quite forgetful with orders.
Food was terrible but the service was very good. There was hockey on TV and the bar was pretty busy. This would be a good place for a drink but definitely not for dinner.
This place used to be good and has gone beyond downhill! Terrible servers! None of the servers or bartenders are genuine and nobody smiles!
Sept 12 2015-- Hanging with friends.. They were already here and have drinks.. I have been waiting 27 minutes and have not been asked by a server if I wanted a drink-- I ended up having to go up to the bar and order I myself! Shirty customer service!
With a nice sunny day this place is perfect for sitting outside and savouring the view and the fresh air whilst eating nice food. The mussles were delicious. The staff is friendly and they do not rush you. Nice for weekend with family or friends.
Hello??? Does anyone serve here? My family came here yesterday (August 1st) after my sister's wedding and it took 28 minutes for an acknowledgement. The time may have been quite a bit longer but after awhile we did keep time just for the fun of it. The place had a few empty tables and it wasn't slammed so no excuse there.
We eventually figured out that if we wanted to quench our thirsts, we...

Decent fair ,had potatoe skins ...they were good , wife had veggie burger and she enjoyed it. Live music the night we were in and a huge patio. Even though it was busy service was friendly and efficent.
The only reason people go to this pub is because of its location. This means that the owners have to focus very little on customer service, consistency, or their food.
If you go here - plan on waiting over an hour for your food. The constant excuse I hear is that they're short staffed. I can live with a restaurant being short staffed once in a while - but not every day of the week. To make...

Nothing really exciting about this place. Has potential because of its location but its was meh!
We came here for a quick lunch, the place we originally wanted to go to was closed (re-up bbq). It was a hot day patio was busy, we opted to seat inside. Lots of dirty tables around I guess we missed the lunch rush. We sat in a somewhat clean table, the server came by to wipe it. We ordered drinks,...

If I could give this 0 stars I would. I go out often and write many reviews. Normally for great experiences. This time I am sorely disappointed. I had moved to new west about 6 months ago. Having never been to the quay side I decided last night was the night to meet a friend there. View was great. Being on the water. We got a patio table and the sun was shining. It then went downhill.
Our...

Ok so we all know this is the biggest patio in New West and when it's sunny it's going to be slammed. I have huge empathy for servers/kitchen during patio season but this was the worst. We ordered S&P wings and when they came out plain we politely asked waitress to rectify order. She was not polite. Told us the order was correct. I took a bite and confirmed they were in fact plain. Again, I... more
A great neighborhood pub with a great view. I've been here many times and the service is usually friendly and attentive. There's lots of patio seating with both heated and unheated areas. The food is standard pub fare, and is quite tasty and at a good price. Their daily specials usually offer great value. Overall it's one of my favourite places in New West for a beer and a bite to eat.
Worst service I have ever experienced. We went for breakfast and there was maybe 2-3 other tables there. We got our drinks and ordered our food. After almost 30 min and noticing all of the other tables getting their food we inquired about the what time. She said she wasn't sure but we needed to give her 4 minutes before she could check. In this now ten minutes she went to every other table to... more
Been here many times when it isn't busy the service is good had the soup and sandwich special which was potato cheese soup and a BLT the soup was loaded with cheese , thick and tasty the sandwich was really good too. Weekends and evenings it's very busy and the service seems to suffer they do have one of the best patios around for nice weather.
Now THIS is what a fabulous pub is all about... great staff ( every server we have had has been friendly and attentive) They have daily food and beverage specials, their shrimp sandwich is simply delicious. The owner actually came up, introduced himself and personally welcomed us by also introducing us to their cute doggie mascot. On the huge patio is a great view of both the mighty Fraser... more
I don't often take the time to write reviews, but in this case, it's warranted. The food excelled above the regular pub fare, and the service provided by our waitress Jen, impressive. We had a large group of about 17 ladies and every single one of us thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Many ladies delighted in the steak and prawn special and I loved my curry and pineapple chicken wings. Most... more
Come early as they only have 1 room to accomodate customers with kids. First come first serve basis. Only place to have cheap wings at 35 cents each that I know in this area.
the pub is at really good location great for summer beers of ufc event is small only downside it can get packed food is tasty nothing special overl good bar
Close to the skytrain and a good wings special. Service is slow, not good. Decent selection of craft beers and great to see steel + oak on tap there :)
Been to the Paddlewheeler many times, fast and friendly service with the best patio in New Westminster. One of the pubs that have wisely decided to offer a good selection of craft beers on tap. Food is fair to good with live entertainment in the evenings and plenty of TV's and keno etc. All in all a definite must to visit.
Service is good. Patio is big and on the river. Family friendly. Wing Wednesday for $0.35 (with drink and min. 10). Worth checking out if your in the area.
I was really excited to try out the Paddlewheeler Neighbourhood Pub with a friend of mine on a Saturday evening since I love the view from the Quay (so much so that I had some wedding photos taken in the area). However, the pub is a bit of a letdown.
The patio itself is pretty nice, but the inside is definitely dated. There's lots of TV's around, and you can buy lottery tickets or play keno if...

Wow! After mostly good service in the past today was a stinker! Either our server was brand new and didn't have a clue or didn't give a damn! Service was terrible! Prices were a bit high. Ent coupon couldn't be used during July & Aug? Why put it in the book with so many restrictions? I wouldn't want to suggest my friends go there. Clubhouse sandwich had way too much salad dressing on it. Cesar... more
Nice atmosphere, great view, little too busy,
waitresses take too long, maybe because it was a busy sunny tuesday afternoon.
Great price, nice food,
Generally food was nice, but wasnt happy with its waitresses.
I like popping in here, on a nice day by the quay it's the place to be. The food is good, they have a long cocktail list, music bingo is fun and they don't hassle you if you just want to stay a while and not order anything for a bit. I've never had an issue with the service, the servers are very friendly although it can be hard to get their attention at times. The prices are middle of the road... more
First time at this pub.. not impressed! Our table was dirty when we sat down. We ordered a couple drinks and the veggie plate. When I asked about what dip that it came with, the options were limited, generic bottled garbage. The price was alright. Dont know if I will ever go back.
Not sure if I'm becoming a bit of a food snob or if the food here has gone downhill. I remember coming here a few years ago and thinking the food was pretty fresh and tasty. Now I feel like it's pretty much the typical frozen bulk stuff you can get anywhere. Regardless of the food situation, I love the patio here! It's the perfect place to chill and have a beer, especially in July & August when... more
There's not many restaurants can ruin chicken wings, especially when it's the weekly special to draw people in - but the Paddlewheeler seems to excel at how to destroy any desire to return for more.
The root of the problem is pre-cooking the wings, I'm guessing up to 30 minutes prior to serving since one of mine was actually frigid, then smothered with some $2.00 plastic-jug, room temperature...

Deep fried pickle...lovely. Beef barley soup the best ever. The Grilled Chicken Burger awful. The bun was hard as a rock and un-edible...so took one bite and then left it...eating only the chicken. I told the server, and even though we have eaten there many times over the years, and have had her as a server before, she seemed to be uninterested... I could not complain sooner then when we got... more
This review is of a summer lunch my GFs and I had on the patio in summer '13. It was a gorgeous day and we had some fun fruity drinks. I had the DFP which were not dip battered, it was more of a coating, like they had been rolled. They were still tasty but I prefer the other type if batter.
Nothing leaves any impressions on me except the bees. I do remember be bothered by bees. Oh, the patio...

Good atmosphere. Unpretentious and lively. Friendly service if a little slow. Perfect pour of Guinness with the clover design in the head. Nice touch. My salmon and rice was bland but the fries were decent and my husband enjoyed his beef dip. We went on an open mic night and one of the singers was good - a bit of a mix of Dallas Green and Matt Good. Unfortunately I can't remember his name.
Stopped by for a quick brew and bite on a Friday evening. Good selection of beers. I or ordered some BBQ wings as well. The wings were flavourful but a bit cold. Service was good but could have been a bit quicker. I will probably be returning back here but hopefully my food isn't cold when I get it.
Wow what s@!%!y food we asked about the nachos. Its a pub they should be good right? Wrong. We got them started eating them and somthing wasn't right so we started picking them apart and the cheese was not real?? So we asked she said nope the cheese is real we just microwave them. Excuse me you microwave nachos. Nasty. We sent them back got the bill as she told us she was going to see if she... more
Came here for some late night drinks.
Parking is available along Columbia, or possibly along Front. (I walked here so I'm not sure about the direct vicinity)
One interesting thing (good or bad depending on what you're looking for) is that smoking is allowed in New Westminster patios. I was quite surprised. Something to keep in mind. With that said, there are 2 large patios out front, and I...

Nice, lively atmosphere. A bit expensive for pub food, however. Drinks were no bargain either--even the specials.
We shared a Caesar salad, which at 10.95 was rather pricey (for a pub). It was excellent, however, and came with some very tasty garlic bread. We also ordered the nachos, but they were 15.95 plus an extra 2.00 for guacamole (and, come on, 17.95 for nachos is ridiculously...

Located right inside the Quay.
great view for sure, but wished the poutine was better. Looked promising, but the fries were not chunky enough, overflooded w/ gravy, and not enough cheese curds. though the bacon & mushrooms made up for it, so for $11, it's a lot bigger portion.
Wouldnt come back anytime soon, but it's fine for the residents who live around here, and hey, it's a pub, great for...

Pub breakfast food is always the best and this place doesn't disappoint. Breakfast is served on weekends and holidays and although the selection is small, it is delicious. I had the eggs bennie with cubed home style hash browns. The hollandaise was very flavourful and the portion was perfect. The server was great, talking with us just enough and making drink suggestions based on what we were... more
Beautiful it isn't, but I wasn't expecting it to be high end either. Decor typical pub fare with lots of large TVs attuned to various sporting events. Quiet on a Monday night and attentive but not intrusive service. Kitchen open until 11 (yay!), and a waitress who knew what to order and what to try when I've got a bigger crowd to share with.
My favorite part: I asked how big & tasty the deep...

Great patio but the food is definitely pub food. Good place to watch the game. Makes me mad the sheltered patio section is reserved for smokers as I'd also like to enjoy it during the evenings or winter time. Says a lot about who their clientele is!
Good pub food with a great view if you seat yourself on the patio. A bit run down, best thing about this place is the view from the patio. Service was excellent and it appears to be overpriced for what you get, however if you take the special of the day you can't go wrong, good value.
Every city needs a great patio/pub location. If you're in New Westminster go to the Quayside Marina and have lunch and drinks on the patio at the Paddlewheeler pub. This is just a short walk from the new west skytrain station as well.
This summer I've already sat on the large open patio with a view of the river and since I went late afternoon and early evening I was able to sit on the not too...

I ordered the High Seas burger - a deep fried beer-battered chunk of Alaskan cod on a bun with the usual fixings as well as tartar sauce. Happy freakin' day. Awesome sandwich. Side of onions rings came stuck on a skewer - great idea for presentation. And the deep fried pickle on top was perfection.

This place is mediocre at best. Service staff look like they have been road hard and put away wet. Menu is half of what it should be. smokers get the covered heated patio and the nonsmokers get rained on. No music even after I asked the server to put some on. The day shift head girl hates dogs and is not nice about it.

Lord have mercy if this is a 3.5 star dining experience in CA then no wonder us Americans are fat as hell. We stayed at the Inn @ The Quay for a long weekend and that was the first mistake.
