Although I did not spend the night at this hotel, I did have dinner in the lobby bar while visiting a friend who was staying there (the actual restaurant down in what appears to be an old bank vault closed early, so we ate in the bar section). The food was incredible, though it was pricey and the portions were a bit small for the cost. While the service was kind of slow (we were sitting for about 30 minutes before someone even came around to ask us about drinks), the wait staff were very friendly and accommodating, and I would definitely stay at that hotel in the future.
We stayed here one night for Memorial Day weekend and the overall experience was very positive for us.
The location of this hotel is super convenient with almost everything in downtown Toronto in walking distance. The Eaton center was about 10-ish minutes away and there were a lot of good restaurants around the hotel too.
The check-in process went very smoothly, everyone was kind, and the...

I loved my stay here. I got a really good rate I beleive because it was an off weekend but on top of that they upgraded me at no cost when i arrived. The valet parking can be a little tricky to get to but just pull right on in to the covered car port area and they take it from there. It is 49/Day CA which came out to be about 35 US. The room was great with a full kitchen (not that im cooking)... more
This hotel is by far THE WORST hotel. DO NOT WASTE your money, the service/management is absolutely disgusting here! Me and my boyfriend were racially profiled from entering our friends room, I would never ever recommend this hotel! Save your money and go to another hotel!
We had a really great two night stay here while we attended a wedding in their reception area (which is gorgeous by the way!). I believe all the rooms come with a kitchenette, so it's always nice to have a sink and refrigerator when needed.
The room was a decent size and even though the bathroom was tiny, they have a stand-up shower AND bathtub. You know I hit up that bathtub one of the nights...

Although the name can confuse people when you talk about One King West (the name being it's address), it's a fantastic hotel with rich history. I was in town for work and the hotel easily accomodated hundreds of people, it's also a residence. There's an entrance to the Path from the basement of the hotel and is accessible via the hotels stairs and elevator. The hotel has a historic section... more
If you don't get there fast enough to check in, you won't get a parking spot, therefore you will have to go find parking at an off-site seperate parking garage. You can't count on the staff to give you directions. I checked in at 2am and all the staff were just chatting amongst themselves. No one wanted to help me. The doors to the seperate parking garage was locked... We were locked inside,... more
Convenient location in downtown Toronto ! Plenty of restaurants / bars.
Walking distance to shopping, graffiti district, distillery district, food markets.
Friendly hotel and bar staff.
I stayed here for my boyfriends birthday for 2 nights and our bedsheets were changed on the second day when we left our room. When we got back we had new but disgustingly FILTHY pillow cases on our pillows with extremely visible dark reddish/purplish stains on them that looked like OLD wine stains. All 4 pillowcases were covered in them. When I showed the manager pictures and videos and the... more
This is a old hotel with a poor layout. The rooms are big but the bathroom is tiny... so small you can't even brush your teeth.... also has wired kitchen and washer dry in your room .... maybe it's good for Canadians
A nice little spot got a deal on for a night!
If you are hitting up the Hockey Hall of Fame this spot is so close you could hit a puck from the front door!
The place is cool, nice rooms, we got a double queen for 130 bucks, not to shabby! They said it came with a great view.. Well the view was not good, but the room was super nice! Even though it was in the older side of the hotel! Beware of...

Positive: Great service. Room was nice. Modern, with a small kitchenette. Very reasonable price compared to other hotels in the area. Excellent location.
Negative: View was horrible, essentially looked out at another building. The breakfast is pricy at $25 per person. Check to see if it is included. It is slightly better than other places breakfast that offer it for free. If you have the time,...

In A Nutshell:
-One King West is a great central place to stay if you are visiting Toronto.
-Not only is the address easy to memorize to tell customs, cab driver or Uber driver, but it's also very comfortable.
-We were able to check-in early 12noon and got a free upgrade to a suite overlooking the eastern and southern views of the city w/ glimpses of Lake Ontario.
-The one-bedroom...

Had a 1 night stay here while in town for a work meeting.
Great location, downtown and central with a subway stop (King) literally across the street.
It's in an older building and the lobby has some nice touches with old marble fireplaces, brass hardware, etc.
The staff at reception were very friendly and check in and out were efficient.
Elevators were old, slow and small. Hallways were a...

I would give this place 5 stars but they need to update their showers! For such an expensive, upscale place, their showers look like motel eight. Also, the WiFi was slow. The parking situation was confusing because it was such a tight area. Park in the front & they will valet your car for you. There should be more signs directing you! Enjoyed everything else! Clean, modern look. Great choices... more
Was unable to access valet and had to park 2 blocks away which cost $42 because they were shooting a movie outside hotel (a city block in Toronto is massive). When I was checking in I asked about the parking issue and was told they can't do anything about it. No coffee in room. Took 20 mins to get restaurant worker to get me a tiny coffee costing almost $4 and made to feel like i was a huge... more
They say that people only get one chance at a first impression and the staff at One King West is left a fabulous impression on us. We arrived and were welcomed by Sarah at the front desk. The room was fresh, and clean. The white bed was...

The rooms are decent but expensive, the parking/valet is a nightmare here. They don't really explain to you where to park but a public garage is nearby in which you can park and come up a block away from the hotel.
The place can get loud during the weekends, it would seem a lot of people come here for staycations. Expect loud drunk people coming back from the bars during late hours.
I booked this hotel as for a surprise birthday trip, wanting something downtown that was nice but reasonably priced. This hotel met all of those credentials and I booked.
The hotel is a "hotel and residence" which means there are hotel rooms, apartments, and businesses on the floor. I found this to be a bit odd as they would typically be a bit separate.
The room itself was spacious with a...

I think this hotel is beautiful and well decorated. I was very impressed with the amenities in the rooms as I do not think I often see a dish washer in hotel rooms. It was definitely a little on the pricey side but you pay for what you get.
Disappointing experience. Two elevators to get to the room and the gym. Got a notice under my door that they would be replacing the air conditioner and I needed to depart at 10am. Fortunately, the front desk was able to postpone this work. Room was noise and the 'coup de grace'......no hot water in the morning. Yep. I will not be returning.
This property has horrible service. Don't ever buy or rent here!! It has contacts split into hotel side & property manager for renters/owners, even though, technically the building amenities are shared. The property manager as well as the hotel side are extremely rude!!. You cannot ask them a question or speak to them about anything. they always pass you over. They have absolutely no interest... more
Location is the most important thing when I am in some other place as a traveler. This small hotel has every benefit from the vest location! Everything in this city is close! Highly recommend!
I stayed at One King West on a Saturday night in January and I had a very pleasant experience. It was my friend's birthday and we wanted to celebrate at dinner nearby and then head back to the hotel with our friends for cake. Unfortunately, the hotel has a very strict policy on the number of people that can be in the room at once. There's a max limit of 4 people and we had way more than that.... more

Stayed over on Christmas, and I enjoyed my stay. As it was Christmas, in the lobby there were two musicians playing jazz music and it was just a really good vibe. Christmas decorations, a huge tree decorated nicely, dimmed lights and the staff there were friendly and helpful.

A nice hotel with large rooms and we were given one with a balcony, though it was filled with snow in the winter. When we arrived on the Thursday night they had live music playing in the lobby. Bar was open till after midnight. You can get breakfast in the morning at the restaurant.

I slept so well in the king bed in the premium suite and loved the door that closed off to the living room...
The door was a real door and fully closed over. After first being put into a suite with no physical door closing off the main bedroom to the living room, which was on the 42nd floor and had great views. We were then moved to the 20th floor. The kitchen has a washer/dryer for your...

I am attending my friends wedding and I think the reception area was super small and it was not enough to allow people to move freely around. Simple and convenient. The location is great and the price point is acceptable. But for all the issues you face because of how old the place is, might be worthwhile to just consider another hotel. A suite will set you back 1k a night, but it really doesn't feel like it's worth it at all. There's much better newer hotels in the same price range just a little west.
Just attended a wedding celebration here past weekend. Overall impression of the venue was very good. It was simple yet elegant, and it was perfect for small weddings; the Grand Banquet Hall seemed to comfortably seat 200+ people :)

Not sure this hotel is worth the money. The rooms feel dated and aren't as large they present them in pictures. The cleaning staff could do a better job; one day we have wash clothes, the next day we don't. One day they clean the tub, the next day they don't.
I'm reviewing One King West as both a) a potential site for wedding accommodations and b) a potential site for wedding pictures. I spoke to the reservations line very recently (a few days ago), and informed the reservationist that I was hoping for a suite for two nights, with one of the days being our wedding day. We needed a nicely sized suite as a site for getting ready, somewhere central in... more
Not sure where to put it for a four star hotel, I stayed at a five star hotel in downtown (Trump) before and it's way better. The room is OK, not that high end but I think even for a four star hotel, the bathroom is a little too small. Read bad reviews about the staff but my experience was not that bad, they were friendly and helpful with my requests.
We stayed overnight on a Saturday. On Sunday morning woke up to find the hotel had no hot water. We were offered a later check out by 1 hour. Never got to shower in the end. Not worth the money we spent.
We love staying at boutique hotels, and One King West never disappoints. Rates are reasonable and the staff and rooms are lovely!
The hotel is very well located in downtown Toronto right in the middle of the financial district. Neat very good restaurants and bars. Transportation is very convenient subway trollies and buses have stations right at the hotel.
Great choice...only drawback was the soundproofing of the room...anyone speaking in the hallway could be heard clearly as if they were in the room with us.
We stayed in one of the suites higher up in the modern tower section of the building. You pay a bit more but it was worth every penny for the breathtaking views over the city, you could stare out of the window for hours. All of the staff were very friendly and professional, offering some of the best service I encountered while in the city.
Nice rooms with fully equipped kitchenette, free WIFI, and both a soaker tub and walk-in shower. Lobby dining room and bar need work on ambiance but there are plenty of great alternatives just outside.
Nice hotel in the heart of downtown, Starbucks in the corner and close to Elton mall
Modern hotel close to everything. Very convenient when attending events at the ACC or Rogers Centre! Great bar and friendly helpful staff.
Booked on Expedia.. $191 per night not including taxes etc.. Not cheap.
When we arrived staff was grumpy.. And I was told that our rate was for the historic section of the hotel OK fine.
Room was ok had a weird smell but I always travel with a candle and lavender spray so that fixed that.. But the bathroom shower was extremely disappointing.. black mold all over the grouting.. Everywhere.

Very comfortable room in close proximity to alot of Toronto attractions. Within walking distance to most. Enjoyable experience.
I was very happy with their staff, very nice and friendly towards customers! Also, the location of the hotel is great, you can walk to a lot of interesting places!
Would definitely stay here again. The rooms are nice and cozy, and clean!
The only down side is if you're driving down, you would have to park in a different area that's a couple buildings away but not too far!
The hotel is great. The staff are wonderful. We really enjoyed our stay. The only problem we had was that the room was way too hot and adjusting the thermostat did nothing to change that.
Elevator is very slow. Gym is terrible. Location is great. Late checkout ia very expensive at €160 for just 3 hours. Rooms are very good
The bar was closed very early. We went down to get a drink. But the bartender clos2d the bar because they were not busy apparently.
Also our hallway lobby was extremely dirty. Crumbs on the carpet and coffee stains on all the walls. Beer cans on the floor.
Shower was not cleaned well. Also carpet in our room had Crumbs and debris on it.
From checking-in to check-out! The whole experience was phenomenal. Staff was very friendly and professional. Probably the best experience I had in Toronto!! Definitely will return!
Quick, easy check-in that was friendly. Loved that you could text for room service or anything you need instead of calling down to the front.
Beautiful hotel and the staff is very friendly! The location is perfect with everything you could want in walking distance! Will definitely be staying again.
My stay at the hotel was Excellent!! I will definitely book again.
Room was perfect and staff was friendly and efficient.
Very nice location...being downtown it's very close to many shops, restaurants, nightlife etc...Would stay here again. The upgrade made for a wonderful stay!
Beautiful hotel, very well located and friendly staff.
Perfect location, clean, comfortable, spacious and quiet. Just what was needed.
Went to the ball game. Short walk to the Rogers Centre. Lots of restaurants nearby
Very well situated in the heart of the city. Subway station across the street, or can be accessed through the underground "PATH" system. Ten minute walk to most major attractions, ACC, Union Station, Eatons Centre. Clean luxurious rooms!
I had a great experience staying at this hotel. The location of the hotel couldn't be better and the service was wonderful. I will definitely stay at this hotel again!
The hotel met all my expectations. I will continue to use it in the future.
Great hotel with terrific views of the city. Very gracious and accomadating staff
Absolutely loved my stay. Our room was very nice with all the emenities we could've wanted. Staff were very nice and helpful.
Restaurants, shopping and various forms of entertainment are only a short walk away. I would definitely stay here again.
Overall good, some minor room issues. But would be happy to stay there again
Well-decorated, comfortable rooms in a unique hotel. Lobby bar was cozy and fun, walking distance to lots of fun Toronto locations for food, shopping and entertainment. I'd recommend requesting a higher floor and/or avoiding the King Street side. Streetcars and other traffic was really loud.

Have stayed here before. Location is good for downtown, St. Lawrence Market, Distillery District, shopping if that's what you want to do, and some touristy stuff (CN Tower, etc...). About a 15 minute walk to the Rogers Centre and 20 to the distillery district. Valet parking on site. Staff was friendly. Lots of things to do within walking distance of the hotel.
The staff went out of their way to help us ! One staff went to Chapters and bought me a book as I had nothing to read . Breakfast was always pleasant and tasty ! I had the best Tom Collins ever at this hotel !
I was only sorry that my stay was one night. It was a beautiful room, and I felt immediately relaxed there. All staff were very friendly...other than the man out front who was annoyed to be asked how to get a cab on a rainy day, and I eventually just called my own because it was apparently too much to expect from him. An unfortunate end to an otherwise perfect stay!
Great rooms, can't beat the location being right next to King Subway Station and near Eaton Centre mall. There's also lots of restaurants around. Customer service was also top notch!
Great staff at check in, nice room but toilet had not been cleaned-urine all over seat and cleaning cloth left in floor. Took over an hour for someone to come clean it-hotel full so no ability to change room. Worst wifi EVER! No noise insulation whatsoever. You hear everything from everywhere. The bathrooms in king sized suits are very inconveniently made.
Spent the night there recently. Nice location. Newish and modern. But what a cheaply poorly designed room. The light switch for the bathroom is outside the door. So if you go to the washroom at night the bathroom light has to be turned on before you can close the door.
Hotel is reasonably priced but the room is small and out dated that is if you're in the historical tower. The hotel pool is the size of a king bed which is highly disappointing. Their Wi-Fi is garbage and tell you to call a number to give you the runaround. They know fully well it doesn't work but don't work to fix it. Its 2017 for crying out loud McDonald's has Wi-Fi!!
We have really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The staff are very friendly and the location is very convenient. The wedding venue is absolutely gorgeous. My only critique is about the elevators, they are very outdated and small for such a grand style hotel.
Do not stay at this hotel. The rooms are below average. Terrible customer service and incompetent staff. Puneet the manager on staff was exceptionally rude.

All the reviews I'd read about the Suites at 1st King West raved about "the spectacular view".
