As far as sushi goes, this is a great place to eat in Lethbridge. From what I know, my friends and family also like it, so it seems to be pretty popularly liked. The sushi is great and you can also order other Japanese dishes here too if you're not a sushi fan.
Well, my wife and I tried Osho a month ago (lounge side) for a nibble. Food was, mediocre and our drinks could not be served due to tap issues. I went back last week (Restaraunt side) and ordered tempura prawns and a sushi bento box. Tempura is now nothing better than a beer batter and my ginger was old and wilted. Wasabi had a crust on it. This place has slid to the level of mall sushi. Pity.
This is probably the oldest Japanese restaurant in Lethbridge. I don't even know how many years ago they moved to the 4th street location (more than 15?) but I don't think they have made any changes since then. The booths in the back are in need of new upholstery and a refresh.
The food was okay but definitely not great...

Not sure what part of japan serves fried potatoes and carrots but it seems odd to metro incorporate such in their specials. I realize Taber (potatoes) are grown not too far but surely they can fill the plate with some other filler than potatoes! We went in for a quick lunch, I had the soba noodles, mainly noodles with little... more
I have never in my life had a worse Japanese food experience. I am shocked at how it could even be called a Japanese restaurant. You will get a more authentic and delicious experience eating at Edo Japan. I have been to Japan, China, US, and many other countries and not have eaten something like this.... not worth the money... more
Considering the droves of people that show up here somewhat baffles me.
Appears to be one of those 'trendy' places where the people go to just to be social.
Truly I am a foodie and have had the opportunity to eat Globally.
The food at O-Sho is just simply inconsistent , over rated and cheaper in quality
in comparison to...

the good: The Ikura was fresh, and the miso soup was good. Also enjoyed the smoked salmon maki.
the passable: The avocado role was avocado challenged.........but ok.
The bad: They call that over-salted greasy noodle dish yaki-soba?
-We told them we were craving vegetables; other than an extra large garden salad, they had nothing they could make us. They don't...

Recently visited O-Sho for an outstanding lunch. The food here is always terrific. We enjoyed the Age Dash Tofu (Deep Fried Tofu with House Special Sauce) and several sushi rolls. My favorites were the Jurassic and the Caterpillar. I have only ever eaten in thei main room of the restaurant, which is somewhat void of character. Don't let that deter... more
Loved it here :)
I am from Edmonton, and this place was so quaint and so delicious. It was a bit dated, and the cushions could use some updating however I loved the food, and the service was fabulous! I can't wait to visit my friend again so I can go back here :) Yummy!
I have been here many times, for both pick up and to dine, and thought that I should finally contribute a review. The service here can be hit and miss sometimes, but the food is usually quite good. The gyoza are made locally and the sushi is usually very fresh and the rice sticks together properly. Sashimi here is also... more
I dine here regularly. It is comparable to sushi in Vancouver. Service is quick and pleasant and the dishes are always good. The backrooms are great for larger groups or families.
Don't be fooled when you walk in the door and look at the "small town eatery" decor! The food here is consistently great (especially the sushi!) and the staff are attentive and prompt. There is a more traditional seating area hidden in the back that provides more of an authentic atmosphere and more privacy than the open seating at the... more
Three of us dined here twice during our visit to Lethbridge. We had a great experience both times. Servers were friendly and efficient. All of the menu items that we ordered were prepared and presented very well. The dishes were very tasty. One ofnthe best Japanese restaurants that we have dined at.
Enjoy all aspects of the restaurant depending on our mood. Often traditional for special occasions, lounge when we want a drink and lounge bites, takeout especially after a workout.
I really like to come here. If its family, friends or business it is always spot on. Ask for a traditional room it half the experience! I have always found the food tasty and plenty of it. Relax and enjoy!
This restaurant is a favourite of born and bred Lethbridgians, but if you’ve eaten sushi in other cities, you’ll be disappointed. The consistency of the rice is never right. I try to avoid eating rolls and individual pieces here and instead opt for tempura udon or other dishes. To be fair, it is an institution with a fan base, but... more
We have always loved O Sho. They have moved several times over the years but food has stayed the same, which is a very good thing. We have tried Japanese food in other cities and nothing compares. Love it!
Went for lunch with a friend and ordered the special for the day. The food was good but not exceptional. The decor was sort of dated plastic and the place really needs a face lift. The chair I sat on nearly broke my back because they're low for the typical North American male and although they are upholstered, there is... more
I was introduced to O-Sho's over 12 years ago, mainly to try sushi for the first time. My friends ended up order a wide selection of dishes from the restaurant, and I was blown away at the amazing quality of taste and presentation. Today, the sushi is still amazing!! I would also recommend the teriyaki beef dish, gyoza (pork dumplings),... more
The service has always been fantastic! I am a simple person and only order the dinner for one with chicken catsu and beef teriyaki. It is always awesome! I have never had a problem with
ordering or being served, I visit the place at least once a month for the past couple years. The first time I tried it in...

I love O-shos! I've always loved the atmosphere and the food. I've never ordered something that I didn't love and I always have a good time. I like that they have foods for those who don't like sushi or sashimi.
Was planning to eat at a different Japanese Restaurant in Lethbridge but unfortunately they had a problem and were closed for the day. This was then next recommended here on TA for Japanese, so I hoped it would be good.
On arrival the place was very busy and I noticed the staff looked busy too, but it wasn't long before...

Well we arrived around 12:30pm and we were seated right away. Our server came and brought us water and asked if we wanted anything else. Upon on person's answer she left abruptly. Came back with the green tea and left again. We had to wave her down to get other drinks. We looked through our menus and waited for her... more
The food is good but not as good as it once was. I've had meals where the beef has been very tough. Prices are high. The service is sometimes good. It's no longer a restaurant that I choose often.
We have to eat at Osho at least once a month and have been for many, many years. Have eaten at many other Japanese restaurants in Canada and the u.s. but rarely do we find anything better! Usually eat in the Liquid Lounge as we enjoy the atmosphere. The service is always excellent, the food is always hot and served... more
Excellent food, great atmosphere at very reasonable prices. Authentic Japanese food. The sushi and sashmi are made fresh, as is the tempura.
Fairly inexpensive meal. Lots of sushi rolls to choose from. Great pot of green tea. Easy-going - friendly staff.
This is the best "Japanese" (Japanese style) restaurant in town. I believe it is owned by Chinese although not sure. Food is hot, fresh, has flavor and as I mentioned Japanese style. Ashai from Thailand. I've eaten here numerous times and the only real disappointment was the Miso Ramen soup. You can try the other places in town, however you'll end up back here.
Japanese food restaurants are everywhere nowadays; it's finding the good ones that count!
I like O-Sho, I usually only get the rolls here and always found them to be fresh and tasty. I especially like the roll they have with tempura shrimp and cream cheese... it's like dessert!
I do not like their gyoza however or the fact that you have to combine your own sauce - I never get it right and...

O-Sho has been a fixture in Lethbridge for many years. It is huge, with two levels, a large area downstairs with tables and chairs, and a section at the back with booths, where you sit on benches, with a hole beneath the table for your legs and feet. We made the mistake of ordering one salmon and one tuna sashimi... more
We have ate there quite often over the years but today we crossed it off our list of places to eat. It smelled bad , was dirty and the food was not that fresh. It has become very rundown and needs a good cleaning.
NOT going back there are all! i had their ramen, what do i get? chinese noodles...you dont put broccoli in the ramen. i didnt see any egg either. shrimp tempura....i dont know what kind of batter it is but its not the way japanese restaurant i go to. lets just say for 65 bucks for 2 people...kinda pricey for yucky food. needless to say, i didnt finish my ramen...oh did i mention the cobweb... more
I call in an order and pick it up for lunch about every two weeks or so. The location is convenient and you won't break the bank buying lunch. Not the best in town by far but, good quick cheap lunch.
I enjoyed this place during my stay in lethbridge. The food was fresh and tasty. My service experience was good, however, I noticed the head waitress arguing with the sushi chef and then later on with a customer who received the wrong order. She seemed to care more about getting her point across than listening to the customer’s issues. I... more
Well we lived in Japan for 2 years, so have some sense of how things should be done. The wait-staff was pretty good, as was the food. We'd go here, again, for a taste of Japanese in Lethbridge. No, good restaurants in Osaka (or our home town, Portland, OR) don't have anything to fear here, but it was still very... more
I'm surprised that I have not written a review for this place before now.
My introduction to O-Sho's was 19 years ago when they had a much smaller operation. Over the years, it has been "the favourite" Japanese restaurant in Lethbridge with family and friends. Family members never need to ask where I want to eat when I come to...

We have had supper many times at this establishment and have found the food to be fresh and consistantly good. The service is fast and friendly and the atmosphere peaceful and inviting. I went to O-Sho with a group of co-workers and absolutely loved the private seating areas where you removed your shoes and had paper partitions. It was such a great environment. In a group of nine people, two of us ordered sushi and the two of us both were severely ill the next day and nauseous for almost a week... more
I just love the food. I've been many times and the food is consistently perfect. Also I've never had an unfriendly server there.
Three different people we know got some sort of gastro after eating here (my wife included). All three occurred within a month. Now, I know that eating raw meat carries increased risks, however, those types of problems are usually related to food handling practices. We eat sushi elsewhere now.
This is a good sushi place; the lounge area carries the full menu and is open well past the adjacent dining area.
A favourite of many people in the area who like Japanese food. Diners even have the option of removing their shoes, and sitting in an intimate booth around a low table..
The fish was fresh and the beef ginger dish was good, but there wasn't a lot of different types of rolls.
Use to go all the time, but compared to the other sushi places in Lethbridge, this one has got to pick up their socks. It's still really good, but average when comparing to authentic Japanese Lighthouse Restaurant or the newer Dono Sushi
Love it here! Ask for a "traditional room"- shoes off! Kentucky maki is by far my favorite, gyoza and salmon tempura rolls. Mmmm makes me hungry just thinking of it!
Sushi was only average and flavors were very plain. The ambience is nice and has more typical Japanese rooms but we won't return.
Authentic Japanese menu and sushi bar. Great service nice decor.
Lethbridge does not have many options when it comes to fresh sushi, so I am very glad that our one option is as good as it is. I love this place. My entire family loves this place. Even though some of them do not like sushi, there are many other options on the menu, all prepared very well. The atmosphere... more
Varied menu. Reasonably priced. Fast, courteous service. Japanese-style booths are a great way to feel you are not in Canada any more!
O-sho used to be my favourite place in town, but the quality has really gotten worse lately. Some recipes have changed for the worst, timing is strange (appies usually appear some time during or after the entree), little or no wasabi with takeout, and the menu has never changed in all the years I've been in town. Disappointing, and sad. Used to be my comfort food, now I go elsewhere.
K my dad lives in Lethbridge and we LOOOVE going to I sho. It's excpensive. But I believe u get for what u pay.
We have enjoyed dining at O-Sho's on several occasions and found it to be very tasty food. There are one or two things that I didn't like but I think that is just personal preference. Their sushi is okay but not the best I have ever had. I loved the Katsu.
The restaurant has been clean and tidy when we...

O-Sho's is one of two of Lethbridge's formal Japanese restaurant (Lighthouse is quite close by) and I'd say they have the best selection. If you're used to Japanese food portions; well, you don't get too much sushi for the price; but they really serve a lot of noodles and rice. There is traditional seating and all in all fair price... more
This is a great restaurant. The food is always fresh (hot or sushi dishes). We always get sushi and hot meal pickup. Its always exceptionally quick preparation time! If we are really hungry we order there for a quick meal! the restaurant is set up quite nice. The noise during busy hours seem minimal no matter where you sit!
O-Sho's is fantastic and a long time staple in Lethbridge. The service is friendly and the food comes fast. I recommend getting a traditional room
The sushi here is passable - I find the sushi at Lighthouse much better but the central location makes it a quick fix for lunch on weekdays.
This is a good sushi restaurant, especially impressive given that Alberta is a land-locked semi-arid province.
The quality of their maki rolls competes well when compared to the more pretentious sushi establishments in Calgary and Edmonton.
Try the large soft crab maki next time you visit.
As a group or couple, you're in for a great meal. Excellent Tempura for those not adventurous enough for Sushi. + the Lounge is very classy.
Osho's is a very traditional sushi house, with private rooms in the back. I eat here all the time as i love sushi. I've been to vancouver, where the prices and quality of sushi is amazing. Of course it's going to be a bit more expensive here because they have to order everything in and there isn't much for competition.... more
Food was excellent!!! But service was poor, we ordered appetizers and got them served at the same time as our main course. Also, plastic tea pots are a NO NO!! Bathrooms were very gross, paper towels all the floor and smelled like someone died in there!!!!
Food is crazy good sushi for everyone try kentucky maki if not a sushi fan its good and I can't stand most sushi beef and chicken teriaki is real good prices are very reasonable ask for extra soya sauce if u get take out
Considering the geographical area and the selection of asian restaurants i feel Osho has come to a great balance and quantity and quality for the price you're paying. There has been a time or two where i haven't been all that impressed with the service, but that hasn't stopped me from going back again and again.
the food is very fresh tasting and very prompt service.love it.i give it a definate 4 stars.
A very nice lunch. Pleasent attentive and prompt service. The sashimi was fresh and tasty!
Simply delicious. I have enjoyed O-Sho food for more than 12 years.
I am a japanese fan. The food is so colourful, tasteful and service
was extraordinary. I would recommend this to anybody, well done.
Great Japanese restaurant. It has a great sushi bar and a varied
menu. You have the option of seating in the traditional japaness
sense "on the floor" or at regular seats. We have never
been disapointed at this restaurant!
O-Sho Japanese Restaurant offers these services: restaurant, chinese food, chinese restaurant, japanese restaurant, sushi.
