This hotel is located right at the waterfront edge of the city located in historic like building. The room is very basic but tastefully decorated. Very good location for downtown venues, a bit off the main streets so a bit darker at night but quite safe. Good sized rooms but feels a bit tired. Could see through our towels, pillows all too big and no choice, and noisy snow removal for several hours at night. Staff helpful. We will likely use again but request different room in the winter!

Stay at the Esplanade

Location Location Location! This was a very nice hotel and easy to get to with being located close to the highway. The Esplanade has lots of great restaurants and bars all within steps from the front door. My room was equiped with the essentials an overall it was a nice stay. Direct access to the parking garage from the hotel lobby so no worrying about the weather when you plan on driving.

Booked a 2 queen bed room, Got a queen and an extremely uncomfortable twin daybed. Paint on ceiling was peeling and tiles were cracked in bath. Carpet was stained. Blanket had burn hole. Lighting in room was awful. Pillows and mattresses were terrible.

Nice hotel

Close to supermarket and not too far from subway. Our light stroller for our young child was very useful. In October, quit time and not too many tourists, great time to visit. We bought the city pass which was a great deal and could go everywhere using public transportation. Very friendly staff in the hotel, welcoming kids. Only problem is the urin odor on sidewalk outside the hotel.

Nice check in experience Given a room with stained carpet and wornout wallpaper. Requested another room, this one was slightly better, however the carpet and furnishings need an upgrade. Location is excellent, plenty of bars and restaurants nearby. This hotel is more a 3.5 star.

Great to walk around the financial district,lots of construction making it difficult to drive or take taxis.The underground system was abundat in the area and a small convenience shop just next door also make it nice if you needed a snack.

Cheap hotel downtown Toronto

It was cheap. No frig only a cooler, no microwave and the hair dryer over heated and did not work . Felt the room was rundown compared to the last time we were there. As far as cost - Reasonable compared to other downtown hotels but no amenities in the room. Would not want to stay there more than overnight.

Comfortable place in the centre of the city!

I have stayed at this hotel on three occasions over the past year. I am very pleased staying here. It is in a central location, and the rooms are very comfortable. As well, the staff are very friendly and helpful. Finally, the hotel has a great breakfast buffet (though for some reason, they don't offer oatmeal!) 12 Day Stay In Toronto

We had booked a flight and hotel package through Expedia with view to visiting our son who has moved from Wales(UK). My son visited the hotel and advised us that the hotel was in an ideal location for us with regards to his work place and apartment. The hotel needs major update. First, I got a room that used to be a smoking room. It had really bed smell. Great hotel close to many attractions.

The hotel is situated right downtown but on a not too busy side street. We arrived by train and it is a 5 minute walk to the hotel. It was easy to get to the Royal Ontario Museum, Ripley's Acquarium, bus tours, great restaurants nearby. My sister forgot her glasses in the room when we checked out and when we returned later to ask about them they were quickly found.

A good trip, we arrived on the Go train to a heavily under construction Front st but a short walk, less than 10 min, we were at the Novotel lobby. Booked in in 5 no fuss no muss. The rest of our stay was much the same. I would do this again.

Great location - close to all Toronto has to offer. Front desk staff needs to act friendlier to guests - don't really enjoy waiting 5-10 minutes to check-in because clerk is "settling his paperwork". Good breakfast buffet, although table service for coffee, silverware and cheque very slow. Will return, as we really like the location.

We went over thanksgiving so the hotel was quieter than usual. Overall the staff are friendly and helpful and the hotel is clean and welcoming.

I frequent this Novotel on a regular basis for work reasons and absolutely love how courteous the staff is and how great of a location it is. It's right outside downtown so you can avoid the noise, but it's just a quick walk away from the heart of the city.

This hotel is really in a wonderful part of town. Several restaurants located across the street, near the train station. Everything was within walking distance. Stay away! Hotel staff was rude and completely disinterested and annoyed when I asked them for basic services. They did not even clean my room (?!?!?!) and when I asked housekeeping to come immediately they casually mentioned that they left home for the day. Disappointment on a couple of items

We came in to town to attend a concert at the ACC. We found that the carpet in our room was very stained and dirty. There were people yelling and swearing around 2am in the morning in the hallway. I'm not sure I would stay there again as there are other hotels within walking distance.

Wifi did not work in rooms properly. The only time we could get wifi coverage was in the hallway. Terrible service in regards to solving the wifi issue. They made me talk to a call centre on the phone at 11pm after flying for 7 hrs...not happy. The hotel itself was clean and comfortable and close to everything.

The Novotel has spacious rooms with a TV, free wireless internet access, a pool, a fitness center, and other perks. The hotel and rooms were always kept clean and the staff was friendly. It was the second time staying here. Another great experience. The only complaint was that the hot tub was not hot, and the service personnel did not come in until noon. That was the time that we had to check out.

Not too sure where there was miscommunication between Novotel and [...] but reservation was not present when we tried to check in. Great value for the money. Both my wife and I were very pleased and the location was ideal with short walks to restaurants and entertainment. Will stay there again.

Very nice property, clean rooms, simple but efficient restaurant, good location, reasonable rates. We will however probably opt for a more full-service hotel to get bell service.

“The hotel is two blocks from the closest subway station. Finding the hotel took longer than it should have because it is on a small side street and is easily overlooked. The standard room with two queen beds was clean and nicely designed. The bathroom was well-lighted with modern facilities.”

“The hotel was clean, safe and in a great location, in relationship to the Hummingbird Theater. The hotel staff was friendly, professional and helpful and the food in the dining room was excellent. It was a bit steep for my pocketbook though, but it served its purpose well anyway.”

“This hotel was in a great location, with nice rooms, near everything and I would definitely stay there again. Parking fee was $16.00 daily but this is usual with city hotels. Had to bring in my own luggage. I was there on business in Toronto and had no problem getting to my meetings around town from there.”

They got rid of the soft drink dispenser and now only available in cans. No napkins available at the tables, it is carefully regulated by the cashier. Chips are extremely average and the salsa is hot. Vegetarian burrito available.

Nice hotel on The Esplanade.
Very convenient for all the sights and only a couple of minutes walk from Union Railway Station.
Service was friendly and the rooms were comfortable and clean.

Unique Quality: Has a pool and sauna as well as a restaurant and bar that are acceptable.
