An incredibly bad "Japanese" rest. that included a meal that was impossible to finish. It started off with powdered miso shiro soup that included fake crab. Delightful food excellent sashimi

We have eaten in many Japanese restaurants around the world. We shared miso, yakatori , tempura and then tuna & salmon sashimi. The quality of the sashimi was excellent. The pieces were cut thicker than normal. We were delighted with the dinner and especially with the service from the waitress.

This is one of the best hidden gems. I've traveled in and around Japan a few times and had great food and this restaurant rivals the very best in Japan. if you are a student looking for all you can eat sushi, this isn't the place for you. On the other hand if you are a discerning pallet with a desire for exceptional exotic gastronomy then, you will experience nirvana.

Decent Sushi

I really enjoyed the sushi I had here. The miso was good and the sushi tasted fresh. The aquariums were entertaining! The restaurant had a humidity smell to it, that is my only complaint.

Used to be better

Went for a business lunch and was disappointed. I remember when the sushi here was amazing and left you drooling. Well this time it was a let down. The shrimp tempura was greasy. The sushi was mediocre and even had hard stick like pieces inside one of them. Not certain that everything was fresh. Actually would have better eaten had... plus

Bland and dried out sushi. Couldn't distinctively taste any of the different ingredients. Service was extremely slow. Wish I could take this meal back.

Great Sushi in Old Montreal

If you are looking for a quaint restaurant serving the freshest sushi in Old Montreal Tatami's at 140 Notre Dame is the place to eat. My favourite and I keep ordering it every visit is Milky Way. The service is warm and friendly the food is fresh and delicious not to mention the presentation of the food. A true gem!

Very Ordinary Japanese

The chicken teriyaki with rice was good. The sushi was terrible and not prepared the right way because the rice inside was mushy and didn't seem freshly cooked. Service was good. Our server even gave us a free Miso soup.

Decor needed some work. That could easily be remedied to make this a nice place. Was drafty by the window - needs more heat.

Not very full. Service was polite and punctual. Convenient location for tourist spots like Notre dame.

Good food dragged down by terrible service and high prices. I had the ninja combo which was good but overpriced for what it turned out to be. I had to remind the waitress for my drink. No offer of a refill. Doesn't take Amex and at these prices? No wonder the place is only 10% full.

Decent place. Was in town on business travel and went to dinner with some co-workers. I enjoyed all of the rolls (we ordered 8 rolls for the table of 4) and the presentation was delightful.

My favorite sushi restaurant to date

Out of all the Sushi restaurants I have been to, this is by far my favorite. I have been on several occasions, everything has always been fresh, the service is fast and attentive. It can be a little pricey, but worth it.
Would recommend this place to others.

Regretfully, I haven't eaten in here yet, but due to the proximity of this fab little sushi spot to my office, I often get take-out for latenight work sessions.

First off, the presentation. I know it's supposed to be function over form, but the extra care the itamae put into the preparation truly shows.

Great sushi in Old Montreal

Went for lunch with office staff. Great sushi and tempura . Beautiful presentation of the meal. The tables are aquariums so quite neat to see the fish swimming around. Went there many years ago and came back because of convention in area. The food and service is better than it was the previous time! This is real sushi, not like... plus

Lovely (albeit pricy) sushi. Service is quick, and I like that they are happy to let you have it 'to-go'. Free tea while you wait. Great handrolled cones, and the right amount of wasabi per piece.
