Crazy awesome food, huge servings and a fantastic waitress. Coffee was excellent, baked goods were off the chain, bacon, eggs & sausage were incredible!! Great atmosphere inside and out. The petting farm and the sweet shop were the icing on the the cake - if we didn't have a ferry to catch, we would have stayed here all day!! This... more
An excellent meal followed by apple pie a la mode. YUM!
I had the chicken fajita wrap with 1/2 fries and 1/2 salad for a side (great they have that option for a side-- first I've seen!)
My partner had the reuben sandwich with a side of their soup of the day which was cabbage roll soup. Both excellent.

While staying at a vacation rental in the area we ate here 3 separate times. The first time was for breakfast on a Sunday and the place was PACKED! We waited about 30-40 minutes for a table and the service was a bit slow (to be expected with how slammed they were) but they were still attentive. The food was... more
Liked the rustic setting, decor was lovely, servers were friendly, food was quite good. Was a bit far from Victoria.
We arrived there at a busy time for dinner with four adults and a 2 year old. It was busy but we were lucky and were seated right away. The service was cheerful, prompt and very good. The meal was well prepared, well presented and highly enjoyable. Despite having to take the grandson for a timeout, we enjoyed the meal... more
Super meal, super service and I will work hard to stop in here the next time we are on Vancouver Island. The prices were excellent for the area. I got the lunch Salisbury steak and 1/2 fries and 1/2 salad as the side. The salisbury steak was nicely browned with yummy crispy bits on the sides. The gravy, mushrooms and... more
The food was amazing and the service too. Very homey place and a fun outdoors area for kids with farm animals to pet and watch.
Great food, even for vegetarians. The service was fast and friendly. No bookings available, so show up early if you want a table.
Great food, great service, best sangria ever. The spring rolls were fantastic. The best artichoke spinach dip we have ever had.
Always a treat to drive out to My-Chosen, and this time it was for breakfast. Fast, friendly and efficient service. The breakfasts were well prepared and tasty. Although a family restaurant, the acoustics are such that the ambient noise level remains relatively low even though the dining area was full.
I remember as a young lad staring wide-eyed at smartly uniformed waiters pirouetting spiritedly along the swaying corridors of a LNER (London North Eastern Railway) dining car, deftly balancing silver trays —laden with piping hot delicacies — as we sped northward from Perth across the purple Scottish moors toward Inverness.
It was one of my rare autumn jaunts traveling north...

Our family visited this restaurant after the bed and breakfast that we are staying at suggested it. The service was great, the food was good, the portions were large, and the price was right. Lots of selection of home cooked meals for even the picky eater. We will be sure to visit again next time we are in the area.
Hidden little place 13 kilometers from Victoria BC offers the best meal you will ever have. Absolutely fantastic atmosphere, delicious food, great service and affordable price. Children friendly. The "mushroom Neptune" entry was the best in my opinion. Recommend for all.
4 of us stopped in for lunch on Saturday. The place was packed. We had about a 5 minute wait to get in, but it was worth it. The lamb burger was delicious, so was the rubben & the special burger. Service was quite good since it was so busy. The meals were large & we all left very full.... more
I have been going to My Chosen Cafe since I was a child, and now grown up and moved away, I was exceptionally pleased to have the same wonderful experience bringing my own family to My Chosen. The menu has a wide selection, pleasing even the pickiest eaters. The decor hasn't changed a bit with the country bumpkin, back-road feel.... more
As a first time visitor to Victoria Island I had the opportunity to enjoy a delicious family luncheon at this restaurant before heading on to a beautiful beach area, Esquimalt Lagoon. Friendly service, great food. We were a party of of seven, most of us chose their delicious salad plates, seafood, taco and cob accompanied by generous slices of garlic... more
It's been awhile since we've been to My-Chosen Cafe, we always have great food and great service at it was no different today.
Had the Breakfast menu and the egg Benny with fruit fruit salad was very good egg cooked to perfection!
The service is always great...it keeps us coming back!
This out of the way restaurant is wonderful. From it's quaint interior to fantastic food and excellent service. You will not be disappointed!
You can tell a good restaurant when there is a line-up to get in. After waiting 20 minutes, we were not disappointed. Our server Jessica, was very accommodating and the food portions were large and delicious. We'll definitely be back when we return to Metchosin.
Finally tried out this gem in Metchosin. Really loved the atmosphere! The food was good. My partner really enjoyed his Reuban Sandwich. The service was EXCELLENT. This is definitely a new favourite!
After numerous recommendations and an impromptu plan, I landed here starving with a few friends.
What followed was: Mashed Potatoes, Yam Fries, Workman Burger, Lemon Ice Tea & Garlic Tiger Prawns! I was full and made it a point to drag the whole group back the next day after school. (Need I say: They were excited to come back for huge burgers that don't fit in 2 hands?)
Can't wait to get back...

We attend here often and have not been disappointed yet. Located basically in a farming area, the restaurant is upscale. There is a pizza joint at the back which is pretty good and they have also added a sweet bakery next door that I have not tried yet.
My wife and I are newly wed and she still lives in...

I haven't been to the My-Chosen Cafe for a few years, so the Sugar Shack was new to me. I was with my mother, and it was just a coffee break. We had initially headed for the cafe proper, but decided they were so busy we might be better in the bakery. It's small, and is, as the name implies,... more
I took my aunt and uncle here last month for lunch. It was absolutely fantastic. Great food, fast service, country ambience, it was a wonderful experience. It is like a place you would see on ' Triple D '
I have been here so many times in last one year and always happy with my Veggie burger. I have tried veggie burgers almost everywhere in town, I have no doubt in saying that they have the best veggie burger in town. Amazing atmosphere and very friendly staff.
A Pearson College favourite - partly attributable to a poverty of other options, but also because the food is just damn good.
It's somewhat pricey for a student budget, but the restaurant has for years been an institution for Pearson faculty and students alike. The fare is simple and homey - portions are large, and the cheesecake is fantastic.
There's a small animal petting zoo at the back,...

This is a fantastic local venue which serves great home style meals for really reasonable prices. Service is excellent and prompt with a great variety of local beerson tap. The Mychosen cafe is very much local: locals work here, locals eat here. The decor is funky farmer style. The "outdoor seating" is mainly an enclosed porch with lots of lovely little stone fireplaces. The food is old fashioned: pancakes and eggs and bacon, burgers and fries, liver and onions. Sometimes they branch into the adventurous: sweet and sour something.... more
This café is a little off the beaten track, but if you're exploring Vancouver Island and find yourself on the south side, give My-Chosen Café a chance. We enjoyed an excellent meal with unusual ambience. The "zoo" in the back would be great for children. The address, "Happy Valley Road" says it all!
The recommendation by our B&B was right on the mark when they said this was a casual yet very good food stop. We could tell from entering the door that My-Chosen was a favorite with both locals and visitors. We had a brief wait and got to ask travel questions from a friendly local couple. The food tasted very fresh... more
Very good food the roast chicken sandwich is divine very accommodating to allergies great atmosphere and family friendly
We were in a group of 5 heading backs from the Sooke Potholes and decided to stop in for a bite. It was definitely worth th. detour. We took a wrong turn coming from Sooke, when we spotted this cafe. I was inclined to drive on, but my hungry passengers suggested a stop was the better option and they were right. It was about 7 pm on a Monday, and there was a line-up. The waitress predicted a 20 minute wait and she was right. The fare... more
After a week of experiencing Vancouver City prices on the mainland, it was very reassuring to find this wonderful restaurant just 10 minutes from where we were staying. This lovely restaurant outside of Victoria was bustling when we arrived for a late lunch. The wait was short and while we did we poked around a new little bakery/ice cream shop with a few gift items that had newly opened earlier in the summer, it seems. Service was friendly and efficient and the menu extensive with lots of good... more
This restaurant is a 20 minute drive from downtown Victoria in small farm country. The rural surroundings help create a warm & friendly atmosphere . Helpful & attentive staff. Food is consistently good with some items approaching excellent. Large portions, wide variety and moderately priced. Always busy and a wait is common. Favorite among locals.
A trip to Sooke or Metchosin is incomplete without a trip to My-Chosen. They have an amazing ice cream selection, that I'm told is about to get bigger, and really great food.
The service isn't too bad. It can get really busy and hectic in there in the summer and on weekends so sometimes it's slow but for the most part it's pretty decent.
They have a good beer selection, a number of different...

Went out with the family for dinner and firstly the greeter was very off-handed, simply led us to the table, dropped the menus on the table and walked away - verging on rude. Always a favourite - good value, great service, wonderful rural atmosphere. Consistently good food, and the MyChosen Pizza is the best we've ever had! It is worth the extra 15 minutes to drive out there!
We went to My Chosen Cafe for a lunchtime meal and as expected, the meal was delicious. We have been here before - in 2006 and 2009 - and it never disappoints, not one bit. There was a good choice on the menu and I went for the lamb burger, which came with feta cheese on the top and was... more
After enjoying our country drive out to Fisgard Lighthouse we headed here for lunch and were very pleased with our experience. I was riding from Victoria to Sooke with some friends last weekend, and we decided to take a detour off the Goose to have some lunch at My-Chosen Cafe. Our server was friendly and I think she could tell that we were in a bit of a hurry to get back on the trail. Our... more
This is a large café/restaurant. The portions are ridiculously large. Quite frankly, no reasonable person could eat what they put on a plate. I think it's a waste. Would be better to make smaller (normal) portions and drop the price a bit. The food is average, and adequate but nothing to write home about. There are a few veggie options.... more
My-Chosen Cafe is set in rural Metchosin and is a great place for breakfast and lunch. There can be quite a line up but it usually moves fast. While you are waiting, there is a great little store with wonderful little finds to shop in.
After a brisk walk down to Witty's Lagoon we stopped here for brunch, I had late breakfast which was large and satisfying eggs with pancakes. My family members had burgers and salads again generously proportioned and pleasant on the eye. Service was very good and I just love the country atmosphere here. We visited the little farm which is just... more
Any time we visit our friends in Sooke we make sure they take us to My-Chosen Café for breakfast. We always have a good meal with great service from the wait staff. Always eat here when camping locally. Great breakfasts and dinners. Still serve liver and onions!
Good prices too
This is the only place to get a decent meal in the Metchosin - East Sooke area, so its often packed by both locals and tourists in season. The problem with any monopoly is that anything goes. We go here often, I have never been disappointed by anything on the menu. Great place to take friends, big portions medium prices.
My husband says it was the best café breakfast he has had in a long time. Packed with people and about a 20 minute wait. Very homey and waitresses are super nice.
After a morning jaunt out to East Sooke I stopped in at Metchosin's My Chosen Cafe for breakfast. I am happy to say I was not disappointed.
The decor is clean and fun . . . lots of "farmy" things hanging from the rafters. The washroom was spotless (I find washroom cleanliness to be a reflection on the overall clean...

If you want to enjoy the extensive Sunday breakfast menu, then get up with the birds and stand in line! That menu is only on for about 2 hours, then the regular menu kicks in so you only have a few breakfast choices. But good value, good food, and super friendly staff.
Large portions. Good food. Goats and chickens out back for kids to watch after lunch. Be prepared for a wait as they don't take reservations and Sunday brunch is very popular! I haven't had a meal here that I haven't liked!!
That was what dropped this rating. The pizza was delicious and a super smart combination of flavours and textures, so thanks to the chef/cook whatever she is. However the front end staff repeatedly went to her smart phone and, with bare hands, kept checking something out. It was so mesmerizing she even took the phone to the food station she... more
I love My-Chosen Cafe, I've been going there since the 6th grade, the fries were waay better then, and they are excellent now! but everything else has steadily been improving.

This is a beautiful Island community. The setting is a bit rural. The food is delicious.
The calamari is amazing. The seafood platter was delicious. I would give the chowder a 95 out of a 100.

We stayed at a B&B just down the road, Amore By The Sea and they highly recommend their guests eat there. We had a 20 minute wait but once we wre seated the service was great. When we go back to Amore we'll also be back to the cafe!
Never been to a better restaurant! I go for breakfast every week and it's always amazing... the staff are great too!
We went to this delightful restaurant Friday night april 11/08. Showed up about 630 pm. to a bit of a lineup. I was hungry and didn't want to wait the 30 mins. we were told. Well I'm glad we waited. i LOVE this restaurant. my sister works there and has for years. cheap prices and lots of variety. huge portions! its my favourite and all of my friends favourite!
Been there a few times. Not great, not horrible. Would not avoid it, but would not make a special trip to visit again. Underwhelming.
I've enjoyed dinner at the My-Chosen on three occasions with my family and each time the food was great and the service was perfect. The menu is huge, the food is fresh, tasty and well presented and the portions are huge. The price is excellent making the My-Chosen great value for the money
i love the food there, but i think it could use a bit of work on the atmosphear... hope i helped!
