One of our favourite Indian restaurants used to be Maurya on West Broadway; when they sold that restaurant the proprietors started Mumbai Masala.
Food is great with a wide variety of traditional curries and dishes that you can have at varying degrees of spiciness. Basmati rice was nicely done and not dry which is common with a lot of Indian restaurants and the naan was freshly made.

Absolutely terrible. Actually one of the worst dining experiences I've had in a long time. I went there for lunch with a friend, she ordered the butter chicken rice bowls, and I ordered chicken tikka. When I saw the butter chicken I knew we were in trouble. It looked like a massive bowl of rice with some tomato soup in the middle. It was a few more minutes until my food arrived with no notice... more
My favourite Indian restaurant! They have numerous vegan options and everything is spectacular. My go-to is the aloo gobi....so,so good! I like my Indian food incredibly spicy, and Mumbai Masala does not disappoint.
Don't let the fact that the restaurant is located in a mini-mall keep you away; the interior is cozy and the owners are truly welcoming. Worth the visit!
I really love this place. Friendly service and a simple but comfortable space. Food is outstanding. The korma is my favourite. Naan is always fresh and delicious. Most importantly, these people are really nice - goes a long way with me.
Really love this place! Whenever we find ourselves going to a movie on the North Shore, we stop into Mumbai Masala for dinner first. Not a very big place, but cozy and inviting. Very friendly staff and great service. This last time we had the Kuku Paka and Vegetable Vindaloo on a bed of punjabi basmati rice. Yum! Quick and great service. Located at the Park and Tilford Mall in North Van. Lots... more
Amazing! We had samosas, rice, naan and a vegetarian tangy curry. It was all great. We will definitely be back.
I was disappointed after my first visit to Mumbai masala. The food always smelt so good from the park and tilford parking lot so I decided to finally give it a try. Unfortunately it was a miss for me. They seemed busy enough but the size of the portion for the price is not worth it. I had the butter chicken and the tandoori chicken. Both were quite small orders and you had to pay for a small... more
A small but stylish Indian restaurant with a relaxing interior. Delicious butter chicken and freshly made naan! Just don't forget to order rice as it does not come with your dish.
This place hits it out of the park. I had the lunch special which featured butter chicken, with two sides, a tasty bit of salad, lots of rice, and fresh naan. Incredible value for $10. The sauces had a deep warmth to them, without being overwhelming.
The service was quick, and the decor is much like the food... warm, and tasteful.
A lucky find!
Amazing depth of flavors, restaurant was packed and we received fantastic service, very personal, great atmosphere! Everything I wanted for my craving and more! Highly recommend this restaurant. I am very critical of most places and have high standards, this tops my list of the best of the best...a hidden gem!
Delicious food. Great service. They don't add butter or cream indiscriminately to all dishes to make them taste good. The food really is good quality and not too spicy.
First time here the other night as I had a wicked craving for Indian that needed satisfying. Since I was alone I didn't sample much but I was a little disapointed no naan bread or papadum to start. Most places give a little free tease like that. No worries though and I ordered Malai Kofta (medium) and rice. While the kofta itself wasn't the absolute best I've had (didn't hold shape and was... more
The best Indian food in the area hands down. I've sampled half of their menu and have never been disappointed. My only complaint is that it is never spicy enough. Try their chicken Tikka, Naan breads, butter chicken, muttar mushroom,... Everything. The food is piping hot, quickly prepared, and flavorful. Lucky for me it is close from work. I just pick up and go home for dinner!
Delicious food ... Our party of 4 had veggie pakoras, onion fritters, samosas (great crispy, flaky pastry), butter chicken with rice and beef rogan josh with rice. The naan was great too! Reasonable prices. I would definitely go again. There are 2 areas they could improve... First, I found the restaurant to be too warm... They need fans or A/C.... more
I want to give this four stars, I really do. The food was solid, the service was friendly enough, but we asked for hot. Our food was definitely not hot. And while all the other flavors were good, I missed out on that heat (by a very large margin) that I love so much. So much potential here!
Probably the best Indian Food in North Van and they change the menu so not the same old dishes every time:9/10
Staff seem a little stressed and nervy. Manager comes out for a chat with customers though:7/10
Ambiance is cafe style with a few eastern bits thrown in but music is background so okay to chat: 7/10

Excellent Indian Food. Really nice people, good portions and nice setting. Nothing negative to say at all, love coming here for lunch. Always leave stuffed and happy.
waaay overpriced for the portion size. not too flavourful, and the service was meh.
ordered the mix grill and it came without fish? no explanation either.
I think you can do better if you want indian in North Vancouver.
Butter Chicken rice bowl for lunch. Not too bad. Spice needs to be taken up a couple of notches. Really clean and nicely decorated. Three outta five.
To my liking, Definitely the best Indian meals in the North Shore and maybe in Vancouver. We have been going to the old location and now to the new one. The quality, service and welcoming are equal, of great quality.
Providing you ask for it, you can have the curry as spicy as you like, which is rare to obtain...

We have been to every Indian restaurant in North & West Vancouver. Been to the 2 in Davie Village. Mumbai Masala is hands down the best. FANTASTIC. Nothing compares. Now if this sounds biased, it isn't. My family and I just love it. We used to go when they were on 16th and Lonsdale and am delighted that they have reopened on Brooksbank. As for pricing, I don't mind paying a little more for the... more
We were very happy to discover that this restaurant had opened in a new location. Food and service are very good. Although the location is not the greatest, overlooking the parking lot of the Park and Tilford plaza, the good food and service are excellent compensation.
The best Indian on the North Shore. We used to go to Mumbai Masala when they were located on 16th off Lonsdale and were thrilled to hear that they had reopened at Park & Tilford. The food is always excellent and the service is lovely. We dine with a 5 year old and he loves it as well. The chef prepares the dishes mild for us (due to the 5 year old) and will send a side of vindaloo sauce to bump... more
It's is an unexpected location for what I have heard is a quality Indian food option.
I agree it seemed about as authentic as you can get here in Canada, but I found the food a little boring.
The butter chicken was very runny, and while the flavour improved the next day (gotta love it when leftovers do that) it was a bit bland and watery.
It's close by and not terribly expensive so we will...

I know what you're thinking. How on earth could a little Indian restaurant tucked away in a strip mall in North Van be authentic Indian cuisine? It's a tall order to start up a restaurant in a region where we have Vij's... Well have been to India about 15 times, and I can assure you, you won't be disappointed. My son and I went here on a week night and ordered an array of dishes. I was most... more
Excellent service, fast and extremely friendly staff. The food was beautifully served and when I asked about a certain spice, I was given a little history lesson and shown the raw spice.
I would definitely return.
I have been here a few times now and every time I have been impressed with the food. It is authentic and tasty. I cant wait to go back and try more dishes!
I have lived in India as a hotelier and didn't find the cuisine auhentic enough. I think they use too many tomatoe based sauces, which in m experience, is not typical of Indian cuisine ( I livied in New Delhi for two years
Friendly staff, tasty (vegetarian) food, if perhaps a bit over priced for what it is. We shared pulao rice with sultanas and nuts, veg jalfrezi, veg pakora and peshwari naan, and enjoyed all of it. They say they are soon to offer home delivery, although at the time of our visit it was pick up or eat in only. For... more
My wife and I have lived on the North Shore for almost a decade and have tried all of the local Indian places. Most have been okay, but not worth a return trip. Mumbai Masala is the one exception. Really good food, fair prices, great service, and it's family run. We highly recommend it.
Great lunch here with my wife. Deep flavors to their food which evoke feelings that someone lovingly toiled to bring this delicious food to you.
Read the reviews and expected a lot more from this restaurant.
The inside was decorated beautifully and the overall feeling was very warm.
The staff was friendly, and the food was delicious!!! The flavours were great.
Where this restaurant lost points, was at the portion sizing and pricing.
We pa id 11.95/12.95 for the butter chicken and a beef dish. The plates they came in were about palm...

Best Indian on the North Shore! We've been looking for a "favourite" Indian restaurant on the North Shore since moving here 2 years ago - and now we've finally found it! The food is so flavourful - every dish we ordered was perfect - the right balance and complexity of spices and REALLY great naan. Generous portions, and the proprietors were so warm and friendly. This gem is now tucked in to... more
The food here is great, service is friendly and fast. Good value as well. Although it is a beautiful restaurant I find the music selection a little odd, sort of techno Indian. The restaurant was also cool and on a cold November night we were hoping for more warmth.
FAN-TAS-TIC! After a lovely morning snowshoeing on Cypress, we wandered into Mumbai Masala (though it took as a couple of extra blocks to find it - and only then when someone Googled it on their iPhone). Seems 'off-Lonsdale' is actually rather hidden!
Nevertheless, worth the search! Although there was no buffet on today, the gentleman offered us Thali (mixed plate), with both vegetarian and...

I'm so happy to have found a great Indian place in North Vancouver that delivers! They charge $5 for delivery, but on a rainy night when there is good TV to be had, it's worth it. The eggplant bharta is my favourite and the samosas are really yummy too.
Excellent Indian food, great lunch buffet, its a price performer. Best is that it tastes great!
great food at a great price! i took my family here for a celebration dinner and the food was amazing especially the lamb and the chicken
