"So what if it's a chain" say those with a "hankering" for "manly sized portions" of "top-notch meats" "cooked just right" at this "typical American steakhouse" in Annex's Park Hyatt Hotel; yes, prices are "best reserved for" diners "on expense accounts", but "solid" service, an "admirable" wine list and "upscale" environs result in a "reliable", "consistent experience."
I've gone to many steakhouses: Barberians, Harbour 60, the old Carman's, the Keg, to name a few. But never Morton's until the retirement dinner of a colleague. How did it stack up? Pretty well: the atmosphere and the service were top-drawer. The steak was as good as it should have been...I found the way that side dishes had to be... more
Starting with a disclaimer: Morton's steakhouses have been perennially on my 'top 5 North American steak houses list', and all past experiences have been in US locations.
For a special Thursday night, after a week of slog, accompanied by a crew of 4 carnivores, the expectations were super high once the res was made via open table for Morton's steakhouse...

me and my girlfriend tried Martins the other day for the first time. The food was absolutely incredible and we will definitely be back in the future.
We came on a Sunday evening and found a barely half full restaurant. All classical style and very well maintained. We did choose the Ahi tuna tower, white and red whine plus filet mignon and lobster tail. All perfect and with a very attentive service so we can highly recommend Morton's.
Tried many steakhouses and overall I would rate Mortons no1.
Overall I was expecting to have a great meal and probably pay too much for it. Two of us went and it was not cheap but the most was impeccably prepared and cooked and was as one would expect; delicious. It's not cheap especially the sides...but most can be shared as the portions are generous and I would go back for a special occasion.
Morton's is the definitive steak house. Excellent steaks, cooked just right, with equally excellent sides. The wine list is extensive and extends to a choice of wine by the glass, and even non-alcoholic beer! Service is just about right. It has been a while since we were here and my sense is that more tables have been added, so it's crowded when full, and noisy. I recall that a tray of steaks... more
Have already phoned Morton,s re our visit, we had better service at McDonald,s, spoke to someone, said manager would get back to us, so far no, to make it worse it was my birthday, so no we will not go back,
Steaks were average at best, and not cooked to my liking. Mashed potatoes (one purportedly being enough to serve 2 -- false) were small and oddly flavoured at $13.
We had a nice dinner. Steaks and mashed potatoes. The service was good. Make sure to get a booth. It was a better Morton's then some of the others ones I've been to. No wine and desserts cost us about 185 US.
Morton's is consistently good at what it does....great steaks. Its expensive, but it always delivers the same in terms of quality food.
They come around with a tray of raw meat so you can see what you are ordering. That's kind of neat. Always grilled to perfection.
Overall, good food! shrimp cocktail, crab cake were excellent. Lobster bisque was OK this night. Steaks, mac n cheese, and truffle/parmesan fries were out of this world. Server was pleasant and she put forth a great effort. One thing that stick out in my mind at this restaurant was the lag time between courses. We waited 40-45 mins between appetizers, main, and dessert. I was hoping this would... more
I went to Morton's with my 2 dearest friends who are steak lovers like me. We all ordered filets. 2 of them were cooked to perfection--the third was way overdone. To their credit, upon being informed of her disappointment with her meal, both the waiter and manager offered to cook her a new one immediately. When she declined due to time constraints, her steak was removed from the bill. Apart... more
Morton's has been our favourite steak place to celebrate special occasions but the last few dining times has made us reconsider. Our most recent experience was on Father's Day. We always enjoy the soufflé and know that the kitchen needs time to prepare, so we order it with our meal.

The New York was cooked perfectly and I ate every bite. The mac and cheese and creme brulee were great too.
We go to Morton's to celebrate special occasions and the food is consistently good! My husband and kids had delicious steaks. I don't eat meat and the fish options are always great.
The filet was tremendous. The salmon was average (I know...why would my wife order salmon?). The scallops, as an appetizer, were fantastic. Obviously, it's an expensive meal but the service and quality of the steaks were great.
We're from near Buffalo New York
whenever we go to Toronto we
have our special dinner at Morton's
on vacation and conferences we've
dined at numerous Morton's in
San Diego, Chicago and numerous
other cities with the same satisfaction.
Took the advice of the guidebooks and had a seriously good steak dinner at this Restaurant one evening while in Toronto. The staff are excellent and the three-course meal with enough good wine to make it interesting was certainly at the top end of `affordable` but worth every penny. These people know their beef alright! The fillet steak was melting... more
the steaks were really good - but the crab cakes were hands down, the best I've had in Toronto! the service was also very good. I would definately revisit and recommend Morton's.
We had two couples at our table for a nice enjoyable meal.
Very friendly and knowledgeable staff made you feel welcomed
We all had different cuts of steak and each one was Delicious!!Living in Northern Ontario, this is a treat whenever we are in Toronto
I would have thought that front of house staff would have been friendly and warm?
We attend Morton's for many business and personal functions. We flew in from LA this time and had a busienss dinner scheduled for around 19:00 and had to push it a few hours before to 20:30 and JOAN did a great job helping us out with that.Thank you again.
Ended up at Morton's this past Sunday if you like steak you will love Morton's the different cuts of meat are phenomenal my companion had the surf and turf I had the Cajun steak I consider it the ultimate man cave for steak dinning The desserts are great we had a soufflé each yummy!!many dishes are big enough to share... more
The steak we had was excellent and done to perfection. I wasn't happy with the price of a 6 oz glass of wine. With tax and tip...the same price as a bottle from the liquor store. The overall dining experience is great , however, my son ordered the 22 oz prime bone in ribeye steak was a bit salty. Our server was a bit rush to take our orders, even I asked for couple minutes to go over the menu which was not given to us whenwe are seated.
Mortens is consistently good in what it does - it an expensive upmarket steakhouse. If that's not for you, then look elsewhere.....but if you want a really god steak and are willing to pay for it, this is for you.
This was our first visit to Morton's Toronto and although the food was excellent, the ambiance was terrible enough to ruin the experience. Unfortunately, the restaurant is exceptionally busy and the tables are very close together. We were seated beside a rather bolshy party of 4 who insisted on having a very loud and pretentious conversation fueled with bravado - needless to say, this was... more

An anniversary dinner we were treated like a new bride and groom. Thanks. And the signature strip outstanding and worth the price.
Morton's always adds that most wonderful special touch, when they know you are celebrating a special occasion. That makes celebrations all the more special and love how they go out of their way. Knowing the food portions, we held back and ordered just enough. The big bread ball (complimentary) is nice and warm and ample to use as an app. Just know when to stop! I ordered the 8 oz filet mignon,... more
Our party received a personal menu and slice of cake.
We took my husband to Morton's to celebrate his 70th birthday. We were welcomed at the door and escorted to our table promptly. The food was excellent and the service by our waiter "Steve" was the best. Lamb is one of my favourite meats and the chops I had were some of the best I have ever tasted. We would definitely recommend Morton's to anyone looking for a great meal - expensive but worth it.
I took my daughter here to celebrate her birthday while visting from Boston and we can not say enough great things about our meal. She is still talking about it days later. Says it was the best meal she has ever had and I agree. It was wonderful from the minute we entered till the time we left. Thank you very much
I'm sad to say that after over 10 years of frequenting Morton's this will likely have been my last visit. Ever since the ownership change the service has gone down the tubes. After having an over done steak, they corrected it with a properly cooked medium rare steak, unfortunately by then the flow of the dinner with the rest of the group is ruined. The replacement steak came inconsistently... more
It was an overall pleasant experience and the food was good. Appetizers were a little disappointing as the cocktail shrimps were a little soft and the ahi tuna tower, the amount of avocado was overwhelming in relation to the tuna and wonton crisps. However the service was wonderful and all the mains/steaks were excellent.
We celebrated two birthdays-My Son's 37th and my 72nd-great steak, salads.
sides and two free chocolate deserts with candles!
The food and service were excellent.
This location at Avenue Road and Bloor( Prince Arthur) is terrific.
We love Morton's and will return often
Like always Morton's is the place to be for a delicious meal for any occasion.
We are eating at Morton's in Beverly Hills twice a month and the Toronto location each time we are in the city.A fantastic experience, like always.
Good food good service. Not very quiet and or romantic and not private. But still a great experience.
My family and I are regulars at this restaurant. We dine here almost once or twice a week and EVERY single time this restaurant delivers. The wine is amazing. My fiancé and I came to Morton's to celebrate her birthday. As I've had a good experience at their alternative restaurant in Chicago I thought this would be a nice place because of the atmosphere, food and service. Not so much. This is my fav restaurant in the city bar none. The steak is the best, always made to perfection. The apps are also excellent. Would highly recomment esp if you are a steak person.
Most delicious filetmignon that I ate for a long time. The parmesan and truffle matchstick french fries are also delicious. However in my opinion the dessert menu is poor. Cheesecake is something between cheesecake and creme bruelle.
Choosing Morton's for a New Year's gathering with friends was in itself, the perfect choice. From the moment you arrive to the time you are ready to make the trip home, Morton's makes everything so right. Food, wait staff and atmosphere are beyond expectations.
This was my first time at a Morton's Steakhouse and it was truly a memorable experience. My ribeye steak was one of the best I've ever had in my life. I also enjoyed oysters in the half shell. Recently celebrated a special occasion with a friend at Morton's. Expected high prices, but $ 150+ for a couple before drinks is a tad high. I tend to eat at Morton's at least once every visit to Toronto. The food is great. It's the type of steakhouse, like Ruth's Chris, or Hy's, where you know exactly what you are going to get. You pay well for it, but you get what you pay for.

This is a real treat. The food and service are excellent. The steaks are their speciality. Can not go wrong with Morton's.
Steak was good, service friendly, dining room very noisy, bar more cozy. Had shrimp & scallops with a mixed grill and they were blah.
My husband and I had a very enjoyable dinner. The service is second to none. The salads are massive and so is the bread roll that they bring to the table - next time we would ask them not to bring it. Steaks were perfect!
First rate steakhouse in a great location. For expense account dining.
Very good service; best steaks; everything is a la carte-side dishes are god but expensive- not for fast food addicts. Join the Morton's affinity club and save a few bucks over time if you love beef. A great place to Share because the portions are quite large.
You are coming to Morton's for the steaks and they are very good. I have no complaints about the food, I just wish they would give you a meal for one price instead of all the add ons.
We went for our wedding anniversary. While making the reservation, the girl on the phone asked if it was a special occasion. I love going to Morton's. Their rib-eye, bone-in steak is great and ranks as one of the best I've ever tasted. On another visit I also enjoyed one of the best lobster that I've ever tasted. I also love the fact that you can bring your own bottle of wine!
Great service, food was good but I've eaten a lot of steak and this is simply too expensive. I think you pay to be one of the 'in crowd'.
Was thrilled to find Mortons in Toronto as the one in Vancouver closed, absolutley the very best time and time again. Service and food are the best.
The ambience and atmosphere says one thing: Fine dining! the food is definitely not! it was just ok and compered to casual American restaurants (may be a bit better). Steak was ok. Service was very good.
Had the opportunity to dine at MORTON'S and was very happy with the meal and the service. Its not way out or wacky, in fact quite predictable, but in a good way. High quality beef to start with, very acceptable accompaniments and old fashioned attentive, but not over powering service. Would be nice to see some prices on their website,... more
It was ok but nothing more. One side only arrived on the bill though the plate never did reach the table. Filet and seafood was underwhelming with shrimp and scallops overcooked and dry. Morton salad ok but hardly a specialty. Desserts were fine. Chilean sea bass fine as well. Nothing to cause a return visit.
just went to Morton's Toronto and I was hungry. Chopped house salad was inedible and the steak was more fat than meat. And for this I was charged handsomely....
For half the price there certainly is better.
This restaurant is way overpriced. Food wasn't so good. Payed for my wife and 200$ for a simple menu.
Will be a one time experience for us. Sometimes less is more !!
I was at Morton's this spring to celebrate my SIL's early retirement with family and friends. The service was great. the win list in particular was amazing and the steaks of course - fabulous. Located in Yorkville its a great spot for any type of celebration or a quiet dinner date for two.
Each time I go to Morton's Toronto ALWAYS the best service/food.
I love if I have to dine on my own, I can sit at the bar and not feel alone.

We are a group of 4 guys that travel around to sample the world's finest steaks. Not only did the rib eye deliver in spades, but my love for brussels sprouts has been reknidled.
We were asked to make a reservation, so we did. When we arrived we still had to wait an extra 15 minutes, cramped with 3 other groups of waiting people in the entrance area. Good food. Not great but never bad. Service is excellent. Very typical steakhouse. Menu in the bar is the hidden gem - especially during happy hours.
Typical American steakhouse.. fabulous food.. but HUGE portions... make sure you share unless you are a massive eater.
"""Good steaks, statisfying portions, and OK service. With Morton's I never went wrong, so far."""
Overprice and underdeliver should be the motto of this restaurant. Very poor service and an attitude to boot!
Hard to beat for upscaled excellence - and I don't even eat beef! To die for bluecheese stuffed olives in perfectly dirty martinis.
Very consistant with top end steakhouses. But stating to price themselves out of the game. Everything was great but so are many others wher it's a little more reasonable.
"""And if you thought Ruth Chris was overpriced, welcome to Mortons - really a place best reserved for businessmen on expense accounts - the waiters would prefer that too"""
"""The same as every other Morton's in the world. """"Nuff said."""""""
Excellent steaks and side dishes. The wine list is rich with good Californian reds. But the decor is austere and gloomy.
"""Regardless of which Mortons I visit, the service and food are always great. Prices are comparable with other restaurants."""
Excellent food cooked just right! Reasonably priced for this quality of food.
"""the mcdonalds of steakhouses doesn't surprise, but neither does it disappoint"""
"""Formulaic decor and menu, but top notch meats and very well prepared. Manly size portions that could be shared. Attentive staff. Nothing unusual but not disappointing."""
what a clip joint. everything is extra, from potatoes to vegetables to bread. thousageey sent me a $40 discount coupon so i thought i wouldwas try it.even with the discount the bill was outrageous. like flying sabena airlines[when they still flew] the acronym stands for- such a bloody experience never again
Good food like in all Morton's Steakhouses. The choice of wines was a bit limited, especially in terms of Pinot Noir from the West coast (e.g. no wines from Oregon's Willamette Valley on the wine menu).
I was looking for a good steak dinner and this place delivered. A red meat haven. Service was good, food was great, but pricey. Considering it's a chain, it was better than I was expecting.
Value to price simply not there, more expensive for steak that are no better than at a fine restaurant. Salads worthy of a cheap restaurant. Service cold and impersonal. Avoid.
Food was amazing, Service was excellent and the atmosphere was great. I had the surf and turf but would recommend sticking with steaks only. The fillet was cooked to perfection and melted like butter in my mouth and the desserts were to die for.
Steaks are amazing. The servers seem very bored with their job. They never seem to want to do the presentation. It always seems like a chore. THe people at the door are lacking any kind of personality. If it were not for the incredible food I would probaably look eleswhere. Try the cajun rib-eye steak. It's the best on the menu. I wish they had a larger size in this steak
An upscale steakhouse - consistently wonderful food and steaks, service is professional (though our last visit was a touch spotty)
Excellent steaks and profesional service. The wine mark-up is outrageous, but this is remedied by the fact that patrons are permitted to bring their own wine for a reasonable corkage fee.
Very good steak, and even better side orders. The wine list is extensive, but not well kept ( my red was at a very high room temperature), nor was the wine well served.
Visited on a Summer promotion. When the waiter saw the coupon he became surly and impatient. We had to ask for another waiter to serve us. She was much better but it ruined the evening. Steak was good but definitely not worth the money.
Expensive Predictable Open late in neighborhood which closes early. Very nice to people who are not regular patrons
The best multi location steakhouse in North America. Best US wine selection in the city. Wish they were open for lighter businessmens lunch.
Better be on a very big expense budget. But well worth the experience
If the cholesterol doesn't kill you, the price of the side dishes will. Still, it's a reliably manly, tasty steak house staple.
What's all the fuss about? It seems like the Emperor's New Clothes. We just don't see it.
Please give me a break. Lets get back into the 21st century and let go of these old fashioned, highly expensive, overrated, old boy's network, gain 20 pound restaurants with a cigar room. Sure I love the occasional steak but to pay a ridiculous price for one, adding insult to paying extra for every side dish, just doesnt work for me
