just had supper here with my daughter. We split the southwestern potato skins and there alright and there was enough to eat with just that. They were hot and reasonably tasty. I had the Canadian burger and it was alright but could have hotter the lettuce and tomato were fresh juicy. My daughter had the chicken tacos and declared that they were quite good. it took quite awhile for the main... more
I will start this by saying I haven't eaten at a "Montana's" in literally years because of the horrible experiences I'd had there in the past..
So we came to Red Deer and thought, maybe we'd give it another try ...
Well upon entering .. I can't lie, I was a bit concerned! The restaurant was packed with families & screaming kids .. Not looking good to start...
We were seated immediately in...

Sitting her right now so this review is as fresh as it gets. Kitchen was ridiculously slow and when our meal finally came the burger was charred black on the bottom as was the chicken. Clearly an attempt was made to hide the burnt parts as they happened to be turned black side down.
Do NOT come to Montanas right now if you want to eat! Counted 11 empty tables, one other party waiting and we can't be seated. Not even allowed to eat at the bar as its all "reserved"! Not impressed.
The positives- our waitress Amber was super friendly, and I liked being able to doodle on the tablecloth paper.
Negatives- Cook forgot the veggies that came with my meal and they were still mostly raw like crunchy, and were sent out later. Tried the chicken and waffles, but everything was drowned in a maple gravy, and that's all I could taste. Corn bread was dry and flavourless, as was the...

The nephew wanted to celebrate his birthday here as he had heard about the magical birthday "steer horn" hat one gets to wear while being serenaded by the staff. Being a steakhouse we knew that we would need to be careful due to my husband having a red meat allergy. (More on that later).
My sister-in-law called that early afternoon to try to make a reservation - explaining it was her son's...

Delicious food. The veggie burger is actually my favourite meal at Montana's. They give big portions and the price is reasonable. Everytime I go around Red Deer I have to make a stop there! :)
Came here randomly before AND after a movie with my fiance and surprisingly enjoyed it! We always drive by Montana's but I don't think I have gone in the past 10 years or so. He was craving ribs so it worked out great. They make a great bloody mary (check out pics) in a cute little mason jar. My fiance had the large pork baby back ribs w/mashed potato, corn bread & side of corn. I had the... more
My husband and I dropped by Red Deer Montana's for a meal before heading home to Calgary this past Saturday evening. We were very disappointed, we usually love Montana's and frequent often the Calgary locations, but here at the Red Deer location we had a bad experience. We were greeted and sat at a booth but after that it was 20 minutes of being ignored so we called over a waitress and I even... more
The pulled pork sandwich was pretty mediocre. And we were quite positive that our waiter, Brad, was drunk. He smelled of alcohol, his speech was barely intelligible, and he didn't respect personal space. When his bad joke didn't land, his attitude changed from overly (read: awkwardly) playful to serious and short with us. He neglected to bring us things we ordered, and when he did bring us... more
The Montanas chain is a favorite of mine. This location is typical of the rest I have been to. Good menu selection and the food is always very tasty. Serving staff are always very friendly and helpful
Come in for a birthday celebration and you are in for a treat.
Besides the bad sports on tv and the country music the food is good. Spinach dip is the best and always have a variety of good meal options!
When ever we go to Red Deer we always try to eat @ Montana's the ribs and beans are always good, but the TREAT for me is the DEEP FRIED CHEESECAKE! it is the most unique cheesecake wrapped in a soft tortilla and fried (not geasy) and drizzled with chocolate or caramel sauce ( I always get both) and whipped cream. It is a large portion, I always share it with my husband. I have tried this at... more
Today we, a party of four, visited Montana's while visiting in Red Deer. When we were ordering the waitress actually had us point out our dinner selections ON THE MENU. After about 20 mins two of us got our dinner selections, while the other two waited for approx five mins more before the waitress returned with one more dinner selection and asked the forth person to clarify what he had ordered.... more
