A neighborhood staple. One of my favorite restaurants to visit when in montreal. The food is excellent and the staff are as well. They don't take reservations - but it's worth the wait. Their pasta of the day is always a must have.

Food on the whole was good, but overpriced. (example: a green salad which consisted literally of lettuce, sunflower seeds, dried cranberries and 4 clementine pieces). Also very loud on a Thursday night. Overall, we liked it but not sure we would return because of the prices.

Sometimes you want to go where everyone knows your name. This monkland fixture has never seemed to disappoint with it's friendly service and culinary classics such as the hanger steak and staple pastas. A mix of casual and professional service always helps.

Terrace

Kind of expensive and the portions not too generous. However, very nicely presented, gourmet and delicious. Great atmosphere too, especially in the summer sitting outside on the terrace.

Monkland Tavern is an NDG essential!!! Comfort food made Well àccompanied with killer music and ambiance! Got ot have thé mac and cheese and an apple Martini! Finish it off with thé legendary Oooey Gooeÿ (half baked chocolate chip cookie piping warm)!!!!

Went to the Monkland Tavern on the week-end and was terribly dissapointed. Very overpriced for the quantity and the quality. It used to be good but it is a place to see and to be seen. What a shame and a waste. The price is astronomical. It is for the jet set. Whatever happened to the old Monkland Tavern?

This used to be a legend, but the owners have recently expanded and opened two new locations, leaving the food on the back-burner. nice for an over-priced business lunch, but not much more.
