we cancelled while there hotel could not accommodate as ordered
The hotel is somewhat tired, but well situated. It wasn't busy at all while we were there (off season), and the manager was very helpful. The rooms are quite large and we looked out over the train trestle. Although there are lots of trains going through, they weren't too noisy. The beds need upgrading - a bit uncomfortable. There was a minimal breakfast in the lobby. We walked around downtown -... more
Never got to stay there as I was bumped from my reservation. Seriously affected my plans and increased my expenses.
The room was clean... The bed was a little hard, and the room could use updating. Did have a flat screen tv. Shower was very good. Your basic room. No frills but fair. Family run. The staff was friendly, and extremely helpful. Continental breakfast was pretty basic.
Very convenient location near Island Queen cruise and a nice sand beach, reasonably priced, spacious room.
The area / location was terrible,, right next to an over head train bridge, there was a train through every 90mins. so got very little sleep even though the bed was comfy. and the room was average clean. Breakfast, well lets not talk about breakfast.
Dated but clean. Staff very accommodating, got an extra bed at no charge (1 adult 2 teenagers) Barely heard the trains, for the price it is decent
We booked a stay at this hotel because it was dog friendly, it was cheap and we only needed one nights stay. When we drove up it looked very sketchy and we debated not even going in, but we figured it was just for one night. How bad could it be?? I was very surprised at how clean it appeared... more
The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The location was easy to find and there was lots to see and do I the immediate area.

The halls and rooms smelled of cigarette smoke which was very disgusting. The music was also loud.
If there were a minus rating I would rate them. I called them to check rate and they said it was $85 dollars when I checked in they charged us $135. The hotel smelled of cooking from their apartment, the children were running up and down the hallway, the bar attached kept all us up all night and breakfast consisted... more
Parking, cost, comfortable. Staff offered to help carry bags so the stairs were not a big deal
\n\n
Towels a little thin. Band downstairs a little load, a lot of stairs to carry luggage .
Nothing. It was awful!
\n\n
Dirty, bad smell, awful breakfast, very unpleasant location but close to the cruise, bugs in the room, dirty shower, unclean sheets on beds.... Very very very bad experience.
location was good. It took 2-3 minutes from Hwy 400. There were gas station,Tim Horton, No frills nearby.
\n\n
It was so noisy during the night with loud music. Even staffs were talking and laughing in their office at night.
The staff was friendly, honest and went out of their way to be sure our stay was excellent! The location is great - walking distance to shopping - and the fantastic Island Queen tour boat!
The midtown hotel was clean and recently painted and recarpeted but it's a tired old building adjoined to a very noisy bar with pounding music that kept us awake till 2:00 AM! The owners are pleasant but they live in the hotel rooms and cook spicy food that waft smells down the halls and their young children play loudly in the hallways. The owners obviously have never been trained in hotel... more
Owners were personable and wanting to please.

Nothing
Located in downtown Parry Sound.
\n\n
Located beside a dive bar.
The entire hotel smells like cigarette smoke.
The staff gave away our booked room with a queen bed so we ended up staying in a double.
Staff wouldn't provide the password to the advertised free wifi.
Dirty bathroom.
it was affordable
\n\n
very old
free breakfast was really old looking apples and an empty coffee urn
I like to say that we stayed 3 nights and we were very pleased with the Hotel and it's staff. It was very clean and the manager was a very pleasant young man who spent time talking to us when we were in the lobby. We will be going back next year and plan on staying there again.Just want to say thanks.
Rooms were clean. Good location.
\n\n
Breakfast was absolutely awefull...you can't even call it breakfast - coffee tasted like water. There is no space for breakfast as you take it to your room. There were no milk, condiments, fruits, trays etc. I had to wait for good 15 min and constantly remind the stuff to replenish it and at the end just left empty-handed and hungry.
There are no windows...

It was very clean and it had rooms available. A good location if you are on a tight budget and have business in downtown Parry Sound.
\n\n
The "continental breakfast" consisted of a toaster, white bread, none too fresh, and some soggy looking cereal. I didn't try it. My brother tried the coffee and said that it tasted like dishwater.
nothing
\n\n
Old run down ,horrible breakfast. Will never stay there again..what a dump!!
It was very clean and when we asked for more towels, they were delivered promptly
\n\n
Their continental breakfast wasn't much
Facilities clean and well maintained. Staff offered to help with bags.
\n\n
Loud party at front of hotel.
Breadfast offerings pathetic.
Poor quality bread, jam , cold cereal. Coffee thin. no milk for cereal.
Apples were good.
Loud music at night! Otherwise, a great room. That's all folks!!!
The staff is knowledgeable.
The washrooms are very clean - Impressed.
The staff is friendly and accommodating.
\n\n
The Staff has really strong accent, difficulty understanding all the wonderful knowledge. Got bits and parts. Nevertheless, the experience at Parry Sound was better due Mid Town Contribution about the town. So thank you. :D
Room is spacious. Close to everything we wanted to go to.
\n\n
Seems understaffed.
I had called and had a reservation to stay there for a few nights, thought all was good. Upon arrival from a very long and far drive when I showed up I was told he didn't have a room for me. When asked what am I to do and how are can we do something about this he said it's... more
Alertheid van de vrouw des huizes.

Het was schoon, maar daar was het mee gezegd.
Accommodating staff.
\n\n
Bar next door played music 'til 2 am - acoustic bass at max. Not the fault of the hotel but impossible to sleep.
It was VERY VERY clean and the staff were VERY VERY pleasant!
\n\n
The breakfast should be improved!
Will visit again in July
Friendly and clean,convenient
\n\n
No stopper for bathtub
should supply Kleenex
Smelly room, smelly hallway, cracked window, molding in bathroom, bad bed, no window to open, breakfast was cereal without milk or toast with only butter,
\n\n
Es war kein Frühstücksraum vorhanden.
First of all I would like to thank the staff for a very enjoyable stay.
They were very polite and curteous at checkin and when we called to
enquire about businesses in the city. They called each day to make sure
we were doing ok and to ask if we needed anything. Our room was clean
and and equiped with towels, faceclothes, soaps and shampoos. Due to the
time of year our room was a little chilly...

Very clean. Friendly staff but not always available.

Paper thin walls between rooms means you can hear EVERYTHING.
Das Bad war halbwegs OK! Free parking! Das Zimmer war gerade noch zu ertragen...
\n\n
Sehr hellhörig! Frühstück? Mit viel Fantasie! Wifi? Muss man echt nicht haben!
Everyone who worked at the hotel was super nice, the hotel was clean and our stay was very pleasant... they recommended we check out killbear provincial park- we listened and it was a highlight of our trip.
quiet, clean, lots of hot water at good pressure.
\n\n
room never got warm enough
It was clean and affordable
\n\n
The price says includes breakfast. It does not state that it is continental breakfast and it really is a pathetic display for breakfast. Coffee is not even ready until after 8am. It was cereal, toast(white bread only), and clementines. Not a bagel, a muffin, or a yogurt, and not ready early enough. The only choice for toast was peanut butter and jam. Bagels ...

Just spent the weekend for a hockey tournament. Cheap price, clean enough for my liking. Bring extra's for your room. No coffee or breakfast, despite the ad. As others stated, good cheap basecamp. I don't believe a previous post that they caught lice! I call bull on that one!!
Do not get room 204, as it was infestated with lice. I beleive it was only our room, though one can only hope. Luckily, my husband had caught a a live one, or else they wouldn't have compensated for our troubles. I had a long and sleepless night, as the lice kept on coming back for more. We used the... more
Room was good size and at least clean

I would not recommend this place to anyone. We had no sleep due to the nightclub next door as music was going until 3am. Also close to trains, felt like an earthquake at one point.
Rooms do not have coffee facilities and breakfast is not provided although half a container of fruit loops is on the side. We have stayed in better accommodation for the price.
Okay, the low price had me scared because I stayed there before. But they've made improvements. I enjoyed the bed and the shower was strong and hot. The walls were painted and the carpet seemed new. The problems I had were your common problems. The soap and shampoo offerings were lacking. The window was cracked. There was a club attached... more

Room was spacious and clean (well, found a few cheesy crumbs on the carpet). Beds were comfortable. Bathroom updated and bright. Also the carpet (room on the second floor) seemed new and clean (not musty smelling like in some old hotels).

I have stayed at Midtown twice and have found the accomadations clean, the service friendly. I will stay there in the furture and would reccommend it to others.

I would like to have a hair blower in the room and more plugs for my computer, cell phone etc.
There was a crack several feet long in the window of our room.
Le silence

Pas d'eau chaude à la douche Sensation de gener, le personnel regarde la
television , il faut sonner pour le faire surgir
Was OK hotel, but we only spent time sleeping there!!!!
Very good location, room was nice and clean, friendly staff. Simle breakfest, but for free and apples are nice bonus :)
This is a very low budget hotel that is overpriced. It was dark and outdated but clean. Surprisingly the bed was comfortable. The whole building needs to be updated.
Convenient - Great location - Clean Room. I would return because of the
convenience and price, and the owners were nice. I needed help to bring
my bags up to the second floor and he did come and help me.

given the area around the hotel, I was very surprised to find that the hotel was very well kept up inside i.e the room was freshly decorated and new carpet installed. There was, however a slight odor, somewhat like a room that was previously smoked in, this took a little getting used to. All that was offered for breakfast was toast or cold cereal with fresh coffee.
Just what we expected. Good spot as an operational base. Wuoldn't stay longer.
Mother & Daughter researching our family history in Depot Harbour & in Parry Sound. We brought our dogs with us to this very reasonably priced pet friendly establishment.

Amenities were minimal i.e soap and towel in room. Bathroom was very clean although toilet lacked water to properly flush. Breakfast was minimal; cereal but no milk. No staff at desk unless summoned by bell. Price was fair for what was offered.
I took my daughter to Parry Sound, Ontario, for 4 days in 2010. When I booked the hotel I was truthfully expecting a somewhat rundown place. The rate was cheap, hard to believe. However, when we arrived (by train at 5:30 in the morning) the family running the hotel were very polite and actually opened the room for us long... more
Sent our installers because other locations did not have restaurants nearby and thought the one on site would be of use. The restaurant was closed and the hotel was a dive.
Hi. I stayed at the Mid-Town hotel in Parry Sound, Ontario on Saturday night Oct 15. Room was a good size, beds were comfortable, room was spacious, had microwave and fridge were a bonus. Other than a need to improve decor, my only issue which results in low scores for quality, condition, cleanliness, and comfort has to do with the smoke odour throughout the room and hotel. The site claims that... more
Our room smelled of old smoke even though they claimed it was non smoking. Everything including the bathroom was old, paint chipping off the doors. You get what you pay for rings true here. Stay somewhere else.
While traveling with friends, we came upon this little gem. We were pleasantly surprised. The price was reasonable - a good value for the money. At check in the staff was friendly and courteous. Our room was very comfortable and clean. The breakfast area was well set up and we enjoyed our breakfast. We will definitely go back next time... more
