Once a Mandarin Oriental hotel, The Metropolitan’s Feng Shui designs now ease sluggish tourists into a Zen-like state. Modern, uncluttered and edgy, the minimalist lines of the rooms offer plenty of space for storing Marciano shopping bags. CEOs, their ladies-who-lunch and local media personalities fill prime seats at the hotel’s premium restaurant, Diva at the Met. Out of town guests revel in... more
service, location, staff - stayed there for three nights in 2010 and it was superb. No complaints, very helpful staff, we loved it and will stay there again. please keep this performance!!
Fantastic service is all i can really say. I was in a bit of a pickle having lost my passport in Vancouver and the hotel staff, esp the female Conceirge were impeccable at helping me. Within 3 hours i had an emergency passport and could still fly out of the US later than day. The hotel has comfortable rooms and beds, wished the twin rooms looked like the king rooms but loved the bathroom and... more
A Good Hotel with Excellent Staff , one of the best hotel i have seen , spacious , fairly priced , 24 room service , free internet , an incredibly intelligent and helpful staff especially at the concierge . Never Had any complaints . Security always present at the Door , Helpful Porters . i Recommend this Hotel
Excellent location, right in the heart of downtown. Spotless rooms and efficient service. Ultimately rather bland and soulless however.
I love this hotel.. Although not as grand as some other Vancouver hotels, I always find this hotel comfortable, and affordable compared to alot of other hotels in the city..The location is fantastic, being walking distance or a short cab ride to anywhere you want to go. The staff is amazingly friendly, helpful and curtious.. I have been to the city 3... more
My husband and I enjoyed our anniversary at the Metropolitan earlier this month. The staff was professional, friendly without hovering. The room was incredible, linens are top quality and very comfortable. The location is perfect. We were able to walk to top rated restaurants every evening, as well as the harbour, Gastown & Chinatown and Robson Street.
Living on Vancouver Island, a trip to the big smoke is always fun. Add to the mix a birthday gift to see the Black Keys and an upgrade to a suite at the Met and everything's perfect. As usual the staff pay meticulous attention to detail and comfort whether it be doorman, front desk or room service staff. And did... more
This hotel was one of the partner hotels for the 2012 BMO Vancouver Marathon. Every person I dealt with was very helpful and enthusiastic and obviously had educated themselves on what was going on with the Marathon. A very much appreciated added touch was the complimentary Sky Train pass to help get me to the start line with no hassle... more
Kudos to you and all your staff.
As always, I had the best hotel experience. I have stayed at hotels around the world. I can say without a moment’s hesitation, the Metropolitan is an exceptional organization.
The rooms, the lobby and the restaurant are beautiful and very well maintained.
Your staff, go above and beyond the call of duty in...

I found that all of the staff mebers were very warm, kind and welcoming, and service was prompt and good. The stay felt very personalized, and it felt like I really mattered. The room was very nice and comfortable, and recieving complimentary cookies was an added bonus to the experience. I certainly reccomend this hotel, and for the services I... more
Great location. Easy walk to everything. Extremely kind and friendly staff (at all hours, day and night). Clean comfortable room, very nicely appointed with all necesities. Wish I could have stayed longer. If you're in Vancouver for a conference, skip the usual hotels and head to the Metropolitian. You'll be glad you did!
I cannot say enough about this hotel. We were celebrating our 49th wedding anniversary and after a 5 hour flight we were welcomed at the hotel by a most attentive and accomodating staff. They went out of their way to give us a mini-vacation and celebration one to remember. The doormen were right there as soon as they saw you... more
Central location with a very clean room and very nice staff. The pool and hottub are decent and the hotel includes a bar, although the bar is fairly pricey.
I stayed at the Metropolitan for two nights in April. Here are my thoughts:
The good - Helpful and friendly lobby staff.
Great location
Good price by Vancouver standards
Comfortable rooms
The so -so
I had the impression from reading reviews that the rooms were special. They are actually rather standard and I had an upgraded version. The bathroom was...

Best Hotel and Room we've ever stayed at! Excellent service - great weekend rate! Can't beat it for the value or quality!
The staff was exceptional. The concierge, Nathalie, was the best! She really helped with organizing our week long trip, took care of dinner reservations, etc. The hotel restaurant named Diva was a pleasant surprise for both breakfast and a late dinner. The room was clean and well maintained. The only two negative comments were that the soft goods in the room, bath sheets, towels, bath mat, etc,... more
Nice hotel but parking was 40 dollars a day. Close to Canada Place.
Very nice staying. Great service. Great location.
My fiance and I stayed at this hotel for a little getaway for some time to ourselves. We enjoy the hotel, but the deluxe queen room isn't so deluxe. The tvs are old. There is no stereo. There is no dvd player. There are pretty much no up to date electronics. There is no fan in the bathroom. Seems like a small room that was once luxurious but now is out of date. Its still nice, just not up to... more
Great location and service. Beautiful weather and friendly people. Right across the four season witba fraction ofthe price. Room is tastefully decortated. Free wifi too! We'll be back soon!
The Metropolitan Hotel is located in the heart of downtown. It is within walking distance to Robson Street, Gas Town, China Town and the waterfront. We stayed in the luxury king suite, it was very clean and comfortable, and while a little older, had a classy feel. The staff was very friendly. We did not eat at the restaurant/bar onsite as we wanted to stretch our traveling money further. ... more
This is a beautiful boutique hotel in the heart of downtown Vancouver. The service is exceptional, the rooms very comfortable , they even get the temperture right! The fitness and pool area is clean, bright and well appointed.
From the outside, the hotel looks dull and dated especially with the towering Four Seasons staring down from across the street. Here's why you don't judge a book by its covers. The Metropolitan is a posh hotel and definitely caters to the upper-class. The room and bathroom are luxurious and they offer all the services and amenities of a four star hotel. The staff treat you with smiles and... more
PLEASE NOTE THIS REVIEW IS FROM OVER A YEAR AGO Got the room on Hot wire and wow is all i can say!Very friendly staff and the room was very very nice however the 2 single beds were too small so i asked to change rooms. They not only accommodated me but the bellman who brought the new keys assisted me to move up the the 17th floor . The room was slightly smaller but the bed was a queen and that... more
Nice hotel with attentive staff and lots of attention to detail. They do little things like leave water for you each day and a little card with the weather. For me the service was a little much and the staff seemed more like butlers in some cases and not everyday people doing there jobs. I don't like to be waited on and pampered but that's just me. My biggest complaint was the $40 per night... more
Out here on a business trip and staying here, All in all a nice and friendly hotel. I have enjoyed the stay. It has all the basics I look for and some more. Very nice location, and and every things else, I would however question if I was not staying here on business that I might pick some where else because of the price.
My boyfriend and I stayed at the Metropolitan Hotel during his business trip. We are both in our 20s and aren't business people... this hotel is catered towards the tie-wearing, briefcase-carrying crowd. That said, this hotel is nice. The pool is the perfect temperature, usually empty and clean. The squash courts and fitness room are great. The staff were friendly (except for one... more
Loved this place. Great concierges who gave good advice, excellent room service that will deliver a microwave to your room for no charge, and the bed was ridiculously comfortable. We also enjoyed the pool, it wasn't huge, but it was large enough to do a few laps and loosen up after traveling a bit.
Metropolitan Hotel was a great choice for our precious few days in Vancouver. With such little time and so much to do, it is ESSENTIAL that you be near all your vacationing needs and wants. Our hotel was not only a pretty posh little establishment, but it was less than .1 mile from everything! Robson Street shopping: check. Japadog: check. Pacific Centre: check. Downtown fine dining:... more
Super location. Within walkable distance to most attractions in downtown. Easy access to hotel from airport through the Canada Line. Though there is construction just next to the hotel, disruption is kept to minimum. Did not hear the construction noises from hotel. Need to re-route from opposite side of the road to reach hotel but still ok with luggages.
Location..location..location!Despite the fact that our hearts will always lie with the ultra-chic Loden Hotel that we stayed at last time, the Metropolitan definitely trumps the Loden with its prime location. Located literally across the street from Pacific Centre and just 1 block from all the awesome shops & restaurants on Robson, this place is smack dab in the heart of downtown Vancouver.I... more
This hotel is modern and stylish with great service and modern room features like being able to listen to the television when you're in the bathtub. Beware, the rooms are very small, but they are beautifully designed and decorated which partially makes up for the small footprint. The rooms all have doorbells which is a nice feature. The food at the Diva restaurant was delicious, especially... more
This is the second time I have stayed at The Metropolitan Hotel. I really like this hotel for its position and facilities. Service is excellent.Rooms are very well appointed. My only two gripes are: The elevators are very slow as is the internet wireless connection. Otherwise a first class hotel. Will use again.
The Hotel is in a great location. A very quiet and sophisticated ambiance in lobby. Room was very small, otherwise, nicely appointed and very clean. Biggest hidden expense was a $40 parking charge. This should be disclosed at booking.
These guys were full of classic Canadian kindness. The room was very nice (though parking was a little pricey at the hotel--$45/day; across the street in the public lot was $12). They were full-up the weekend of our reservation and upgraded us to a luxury room, which would have been great if it hadn't meant going from two beds to one. It took them an hour to correct what they said would take... more
Great location, outstanding service. We were in Vancouver to celebrate a 75th birthday and they pulled together a suite and two adjoining rooms for the family and - surprised the birthday girl with a chocolate soufle late in the day with her name and best wishes spelled in chocolate! Breakfast at Diva's the morning after was good.
Luxurious hotel in a great downtown location. It was walking distance to shopping areas as well as public transit (bus and SkyTrain).
Hmmm. Maybe this a 3-star hotel. Not thrilled though.Pros: Great location, nice rooms, clean lobby, nice pool/spa areaCons: spotty staff, construction next door, no free wi-fi, bait and switch packages, men's locker room was not open, pool shower is freezing cold.Ok, when you walk into your room and there's a letter from the manager apologizing for the construction noise next door, you know... more
We shopped and ate out when we were there and took the skytrain to the RIVER ROCK CASINO. Beautiful. There was nothing missing from our stay. This was a great fancy hotel to stay at compared to other hotels we have stayed at.
came here for a guest lecturer speech on fibromyalgia recently.. food might have been catered by Diva at the Met (their well known hotel restaurant) as napkins with their brand were on our tablesthe food night all started with the waiter walking around with a tray of spoons.. the spoons were filled with either a deep fried goat cheese tater on a bed of apple chutney.. and a peking duck spoon... more
We loved our stay at the Met. Nicely decorated - from the lobby to the room to the restaurant. Our view from the room was of other buildings - no ocean view, but that was fine as we were only in our rooms after dark - city lights instead :0). The room itself was very nice with a very spacious bathroom, and looks like it has recently been updated. We came to Vancouver to do shopping and this... more
All I remember is the bluecheese cheesecake,it was a delicate and decadent slice, it was hella good. The room was clean and modern. It had a balcony, great cityviews and much much better from what we officially bookedon this trip. We made a mistake on booking a roomat Ramada (downtown). That hotel should burn.....burnnnnn!But the "Met" is a great place, and expect to pay.
Verty nice helpful people here!! Really enjoyed the Hotub and pool!!
I had unfortunate news of a death of a friend as soon as I landed. The staff at the hotel were so kind and helpful. They cancelled my second day with no penalties and helped me to call Air Canada to change my flight, so as I can go home earlier. Air Canada also waived the change fee because of the circumstances.[...]
Metropolitan is very well kept and staff are professional and friendly. WiFi is only available in the lobby and our room did provide a data cable. Lobby and room were very clean; however, the bathroom seemed a bit dated.
We stayed at the Metropolitan before and after our cruise to Alaska. This hotel was amazing. The rooms we had were roomy, clean, and very well appointed. The entire staff at this hotel went out of their way to make us feel at home. Great location, fantastic restaurant, professional staff. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone!
I spent a weekend here on a great rate through Orbitz. I had read a bunch of reviews noting that there is a construction site next door to the hotel, but decided to risk it. I sent an email ahead requesting a room away from the construction, and I was pleasantly surprised that they granted my request despite the fact that I was staying there on such a cheap rate! That being said, there was... more
Great location for dinning and hop on hop off tour bus.It is really a four star hotel as advertised.Construction next door, but it did not bother us.
We spent two wonderful days in Vancouver and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. We had stayed at this property twice before when it was under different ownership (although we didn't know it when we booked). It was an excellent hotel before and has obviously been totally refurbished and is in pristine condition. The room was beautifully decorated and the health/fitness center is... more
Near Canada Line Train. Taxi from airport will run about $30. Enjoyed Hotel. Doorman a great source for good places to eat or how to get around.
I travel a lot for business and I found this to be one of my favorite hotels.
We were only there for less than a day. Very helpful staff, great location. Excellent pancakes at Diva!!
The Metropolitan Hotel is in an excellent location and made getting around very easy. The staff were friendly and helpful and rooms were clean.
Wonderful, helpful staff. Great location for access to Stanley Park, aquarium, Gastown, Granville Island, waterfront, and shopping.
Great location, just a block and a half off Robson Street. The concierge was very helpful. Helped with directions and suggestions for places to eat. Ask about the breakfast place just a block down from the hotel, it is a small Asian place that serves great omelets. The rooms were comfortable. Sitting area, super soft bed, flat screen tv. Nice size bathroom with separate shower and tub. My only... more
Did not provide coffee each day as required. Removed bathing robe before our last day. Did not provide 2 robes to begin with. Think they are better than what they are. Would not recommend to anyone.
From the moment we arrived the staff made us feel we were the only ones in the hotel. [...] at the front desk was efficient, friendly and upbeat. The hotel is in walking distance to not only tourist attractions but fabulous restaurants. The linens made us feel like we were in a petite hotel. We were truly impressed.
Very nice rooms with huge bathrooms. Friendly & helpful staff. My sons very much enjoyed the fitness center. Great location for everything in downtown Vancouver.
We were able to walk to Robson street to shop and we had plenty of restaurant options for meals. Parking was expensive and there is a lot of construction going on near the hotel, likely in preparation for the 2010 Olympics.
The staff were flexible and accomodating. The service was very good.
great location, convenient to all downtown places, very nice and lean room.all rooms are noisy because if you stay in the front side of the hotel, you hear the traffice noise, if you stay at the rear side, here is a construction going on which does not seem to finish in a year or two - it's a construction site of another hotel just 10 feet away
Very elegant hotel. Clean, nicely decorated, helpful staff. Expensive parking at the hotel but that is to be expected when staying in a city. Definitely recommend this hotel.
while i was there i was on a business trip so i was in the room just to change clothes or to sleep. every thing in the hotel was great and i didnt needed anything at the time. the hotel is a little different and but i like it! the staff are very nice and if you need something they were there when i needed a thing.
An upscale hotel right in the heart of Vancouver! The room was spotless, the linens luxurious, the bathroom was all marble and very spa-like. The hotel was quiet, the staff friendly and helpful. They had a business center with a computer, printer & fax. It was within walking distance to the Art Museum, resturants, and lots of great shopping. Who could ask for more? We loved it!
Perfect location and lovely rooms. Would recommend highly. Staff very helpful and friendly. Knowledgeable conceierge -Book it!
Top notch, high quality, beautiful, clean room. Very comfortable bedding and nice staff. No complaints. Pricey, but saved quite a bit through Orbitz off the price on the hotel's website. Very satisfied.
great value for money given that the hotel is in such a superb location
Very friendly staff. Great location to everything. Construction next door but not that noisy. I would recommend to others.
I chose this hotel because it was downtown and seemed close to everything, which for the most part was true. The bathroom was the best feature, although I thought all rooms had separate bath tubs from the showers, and mine was a combo. The sauna and pool/gym facilities were very clean. The staff was helpful. It is downtown, so don't expect peace and quiet or beautiful views, but if you don't... more
Excellent location, and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful.
The staff were very friendly and helpfully. The room appeared to have recently been remodeled, and exceeded expectations. Very convenient location downtown, highly recommended.
Good location and nice hotel. I have stayed at almost all the 4 star hotels in Vancouver and this was one of the better, but I would assume the price would be much higher if there wasn't neighbouring construction.
It was a surprise trip for my wife's 60th birthday. My research paid off, as our experience at the Metropolitan was outstanding. The rooms are great, clean and comfy. We both particularly enjoyed the fluffy bathrobes. The service was excellent and the staff as friendly as you could ask. Also, couldn't have asked for better location. We walked to everthing. I would certainly have no... more
Molton Brown toiletries, Frette linens and two blocks from Robson and a block from Pacific Center...The staff here is super friendly. They come greet you at the curb, open the doors for you, take your luggage up the steps. And everyone else seems real friendly and knowledgeable. It's an older building. There are two elevators which sometimes can take awhile to get to your floor. The room... more
My boyfriend and I stayed here for 3 nights. We booked our trip through Travelocity, and we were both quite happy. There was a little glitch at first--after we checked in (and 'broke in') our room, we realized it didn't have all the amenities we had paid for. So we had to go down to the front desk, where they sent us to another room. We took a look around before 'breaking in' this room, and... more
What I liked:Comfortable rooms with Frette linens and Molton Brown toiletries.Reasonable sized bathroom with good lighting and separate bath & shower.Wonderful customer service from the front desk.Breakfast and valet parking were included in our rate.Excellent location - within 5-10 mins walking distance to all the main attractions downtown. What I didn't like:Slow elevators. The noise. The Metropolitan is a mid-tier hotel chain located primarily in Toronto and Vancouver. I stayed at the (downtown) Vancouver location and found it a very pleasant experience.+The room rate was reasonable.+Rooms were clean and well organized.+Hotel has a small gym and a pool on the 3rd floor.-There is WiFi but it is not free.-My room key card needed to be replaced and I was briefly locked out.As... more
We chose the Metropolitan because it's dog-friendly. And I don't mean just the mini- dogs, but the dogs of a size that people step aside for when you walk down the street. Room service - excellent. Front... more
Parking attendant at the hotel garage seemed oddly confused and bewildered when we initially pulled into the garage - in general I think it would not be unreasonable to expect to be greeted proactively, as opposed to my having to explain that we were checking in - 'cuz checking in seems well within the regular reasons we would be there, right? He turned out to be polite so that was alright,... more
Stayed here on our first visit to Vancouver! We loved it! They treated me and my hubby if we were celebrities! Even one night they helped my husband decorate the hotel with rose petals on the bed and in a bubble bath! They were sooo good! The door man new our names! The concierge helped us out soo much with sightseeing! Ahhh...they were sooo good to us!
My husband and I were in Vancouver for just one night after he finished a fishing trip in the Charlottes but we both wished we had more time just in the hotel alone. The bed was amazingly comfortable, the room was lovely and we loved the city view. We managed to find time for the hot tub in the Health Center and the view there was wonderful as well. I would stay at the Metropolitan again in... more
Staff were uniformly friendly and helpful. Rooms were sufficiently spacious with good amenities. Nice pool and business center. Great location, central to everything, on major bus routes, right downtown. Would certainly come back.
The Metropolitan Hotel has an underwhelming and small lobby and front desk which was quickly forgotten when opened the door to our King bedroom with small private balcony. Huge room with clever use of sliding door in bathroom to make even more room. Thick towels and bathrobe were a nice touch, Pool and exercise areas were clean, bright and modern. Fan even automatically turned on as I began... more
