if you can not finish what they serve you, you should have enough to feed yourself for at least one more meal. Generous portions.
We are from the Vancouver area so are used to good Chinese (any ethnic food for that matter). While travelling, we lowered our expectations but this place does not cut it at all. If you have not tasted real Chinese food, then this place may satisfy your cravings. Another place on near Hwy 33 towards the Airport off Hwy 97N(Imperial... more
I'm socked about reading all of the bad reviews for this place. I must be missing something..... This has been my go to Chinese food place for over 5 years and I find them consistently good. The chicken chow mein is awesome as well as their beef and broccoli. I have never had bad service or a bad meal for... more
No flavor. We had the dinner for 4. The food tasted like it was either sitting for days or in water. Ginger beef had no flavor and was mushy. Never again
There is usually too much food for me to eat so I take a doggie bag home and get two meals out of this. Food is excellent, served hot from very efficient servers. They have a card they give and when stamped full you get $10.00 off. Also birthday dinner is free.
They should change the restaurant name from Meekong to Muckong. It was the worst chinese I have ever tried to eat.It was rotten we would have walked only we were guests.
Im a huge fan of chinese food and havent found a favorite yet. Mekong was pretty good, food was fresh and tasty...waitress was great!
Kind of pricey but that seems the norm for Kelowna
My family visit Mekong Restaurant about once a year and have never found anything to complain about. Good family sized portions when you order the dinner combos. Food is reasonably priced.
We had a large party here over the holidays and it was cheap and pretty decent food. Very Westernized Chinese food. The spicy tofu/broccoli was excellent!!
I'm on a bit of a Chinese food hunt in Kelowna right now, and we thought we'd stop in for the lunch special at Mekong. For $9.95 you get rice or chow mein, and a choice two other dishes. I had the chow mein, ginger chicken and chicken with cashew nuts. It was okay, but it was basically food court... more
Perhaps my expectations were a bit too high. I was there for lunch so I did not have the opportunity to ask the staff for their favorites or recommendations. We ordered a lunch combo for 6 that consisted of standard fare.
I really like authentic Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai etc. food and that is not quite what the Mekong seemed to...

price is good but the quality is average or even below the standard.
Had a late lunch here with my son. Food was excellent, drinks were good and the waitress was friendly and helpful. It was quite a big meal for a lunch so we took a long time to enjoy.
We have eaten here several times because they have a large room upstairs for large groups. But everytime we think the same thing - it tastes okay but every dish tastes about the same. Not my choice.
The food was good we liked it all, yum. yumm! It did not take long to get our food, My wife got take out we eat at our room. All the food we had seemed to be fresh cooked we would eat there again!
we had food delivered and afeter tasting we phoned and told them it was tastless, it is hard work to serve bad chinese, these people win
Whatever it is that this restaurant serves it in no way resembles authentic Chinese food. It reminds me of those little Chinese places you'd find in the odd prairie town serving very sweet, very doughy, very red "Chinese" food. In all honesty the prepared Kung Pao chicken from Costco is better. 'Nuff said.
The food was average quality - definitely geared to what the chef thinks the clientele wants as opposed to trying to create a meal that's authentically Chinese. Based on the menu offerings and style of restaurant, we did not expect anything different than what was served. We ordered a combination meal for 6 (there were 5 of us).
The food...

I am allergic to gluten so eating out is always risky but at Mekong they knew exactly what I could have and in fact I had gluten free spring rolls and sweet and sour pork for the first time ever! Everyone in our group of 9 people enjoyed the meal - a great family dining restaurant.
Food was oily, fatty and grisally. Not worth the money. I have eaten all over the country and this is close to the worst Chinise food around. I went there 10yrs ago and went this time it and food was still the same! Gross.
We had a very good meal at this restaurant. The service was excellent and the food was reasonably priced. We found the portion sizes to be large. I would recommend this to anyone staying nearby. We found it to be excellent and good value.
I'm willing to pay $38 for even reasonable quality Chicken Fried Rice, Sweet and Sour Pork and Spicy Ginger Beef. Alas it was SWEEEEEEET & SOGGY! The crows enjoyed it. I'm told the restaurant was busy, and therefore presume the patrons are accepting of 'Asian-esque cuisine' versus authentic.
There will always be the whiners in life but I am not going to be one of them.
I have gone to this restaurant for years and year and admire the family that
works so hard to have this be a warm and welcoming place to eat.
I enjoy the food, if you don't like something they would be more...

Really good family size portions! Get the dinner combos that's what we did. The amount of food you get will have you eating leftovers. It's what I expected for Chinese food in Kelowna, but probably the best they have in Kelowna.
Only place to get decent bubble tea in too.
Everything is really fast too. I watched the cooks in...

The combo dinner's for 3 & 5 are great for when you have guests and don't want to cook.
Why does all the chinese food in Kelowna suck so bad?
My favorite chinesse in town, but still mediocre compared to big city chinesse. The menu is a 'white wash' asian experience (meaning white people style). The spring rolls, peppered steak and dry garlic chicken are a must order.
I was told that Canadian Chinese food was not the best but did not expect the substandard food at this place. The locals all recommended it and it was busy but the chicken had the consistency of carbon fibre and after 10- 15 minutes of chewing had not broken down. Visit this restaurant at your peril.
Mekong Restaurant offers these services: banquets, salles, réception, caterer, chinese, restaurant.
Contrary to popular opinion, the Mekong Restaurant serves Chinese food, not Vietnamese We are proud to bring you fine traditional Chinese Szechwan cuisine
Mekong Restaurant is a restaurant where most Menuism users came for a family meal, paid between $10 and $25, and tipped between 15% to 18%.
