The folks behind the highly successful Lolita’s have set up shop in boho quarters on Commercial Drive. Service can be slow, but the food—smoky beef taquitos ($10), house specialty paella ($18.25), and ceviche habañero ($14) featuring local scallops, wild sockeye, and halibut in a zippy pomello-citrus marinade—is well worth the wait. The drinks list is as lively as the room, from fruity... more
Big sister to thimble-sized West End fave Lolita's, this generous room with double-height ceilings and a 25-seat sidewalk patio is dominated by a formidable curved bar and its fruity-but-deadly concoctions, like rocket fuel margaritas, sangria, and a great variety of imported beer. Besides weekend brunch warriors and casual after-work driop-ins, communal tables draw fans of locally-sourced... more
Specializing in Mexican food, they are most known for their delicious smoky beef taquitos, house specialty paella, and ceviche habanero. Their menu also feature fresh local scallops, wild sockeye, and habilut in their house pomello-citrus marinate. The setting and layout of the restaurant has a tropical feel and is very lively and inviting. The drink list is excellent as they are an... more
they always have something adventurous to try on the cocktail menu. I'd walk past here on my way home from work & read what drink special they have on the blackboard that day - most days, I'd be tempted in.
Considering it's North of two borders, it's as good as Mexican gets here. It's okay for Gringo-light, but lack depth and flavour of real Mexican food. Sauces are too sweet!
when you put a benny on corn bread you make me happy. there are benny's all over this city and me & julio have one to look forward to. it's still not real mexican food though. just a substitute.
great south american food, with actual flavors. many mexican restaurants in vancouver water out the taste and spice and those things are apparent here.
fantastic guac/beans & chips. Friendly bartenders with some tasty original marg ideas. nice neighbourhood spot on the drive.
Good authentic mexican dishes. Attentive service. Great location on Commercial Drive.
Lolita's little brother on Commercial Drive is worth a visit. The food is fresh and tasty and you feel like you have gone south of the border. It is inventive while still feeling approachable. There is something for everyone on the menu... if you like mex
This place was recently renovated, and I think it has improved the restaurant a lot. It's more youthful and inviting. The food is pretty good, though the menu could be a little more interesting. They have unique quesadillas. Service is good, a little slow
Very fun place for drinks, appetizers, and latin-influenced food.
The staff were quite friendly and attentive. Decor was funky and there was an upbeat, lively atmosphere in this community drive haunt. Although the margarita's were quite good and the salsa was tasty, the (halibut) tacos were dried out and not very tasty.
