Located in the downtown core, minutes from Roy Thomson Hall, Metro Toronto Convention Centre and the Air Canada Centre. Marcel’s offer traditional French cuisine in a romantic setting and an exclusive selection of fine wines, many by the glass.
I had the venison here and it was perfect. It didnt taste "gamey" and was perfectly seared on the outside and rare on the inside. Served with roasted potatoes and seasonal veggies in a juniper sauce, it was superb. The hazelnut creme brule was also quite good, but not the best I've had in the city. Service was decent and the food arrived promptly. I would for sure go back again, and again.
On m'avais recommandé cet endroit.

"A reliable place for dinner before the theatre" since 1984, this second-storey Entertainment Districter delivers "consistent" French plates backed by a sizable wine list, including 20 by the glass; though critics complain "slow service" results when it's "busy", overall, staffers "make an effort" to get patrons to their show on time.
I have been going to Marcel's for thirty years and have never seen it so empty....was there 5.30 to 6.50, before a baseball game and there was only 4 people in the restaurant...the food and the service were good, so why so few customers....the street was busy with people and most restaurants were busy
Excellent service by all staff... server checked after each course, manager also came by to see if all ok. Food was delicious and portion sizes were perfect for lunch.
I came for dinner at Marcels and wasn't disappointed. The service was excellent and food was served promptly. I started with the terrine which was delicious and had peppercorns that added a nice spice. Next was the steak and potatoes and it was perfectly cooked and tasty. The crust on the meat was just the right texture. Dessert was the tart normande which I've never had and it was terrific... more
Came to Marcel's for a summerlicious lunch and had a great and filling meal. My two friends had the salmon crepe appetizer and the flank steak with potatoes. I had the chicken pate and the scallop linguini. For dessert I had a puff pastry with chocolate sauce, one friend has the mousse and the other had vanilla caramel. All delicious. My only negative comment would be regarding our server. We... more
The services was excellent. The presentation of the food was so creative and the portion of the food was just right. I took my daughter there for her birthday treat and she has the smiles on her face all the time there. Thank you Marcel's.
Great dining experience. Waitress and other staff were fabulous and gave me and my guests an opportunity to speak french. Loved it so much, I brought another group of friends to Marcel's two days later.
The restaurant has a great European vibe with a menu to match. The filet cod left your taste buds wanting more and the apple tart had a Parisian taste to it. Very hard to find desserts that taste French in Canada. The ambiance was quite but friendly for conversation. The service timely and friendly. A place true Torontonian want would love to eat at and enjoy the view of king west.
I went with my family to have lunch and two of then ending up being late to lunch. It took almost 15min for our server to finally notice we were trying to catch his attention. It would be like that for the rest of lunch. We tried several times to flag him down when we wanted to order more drinks, but he always seemed to miss us. From the time my two family members came in late, he never asked... more
No double the place has the french bistro feel, and tables are not crowded together which was very nice.
Service was professional if a little on the cool side. We didn't drink at lunch so can't comment on the wine list. What was disappointing was the food. They are simply not prepared with the level of care expected from an establishment with its long held reputation as a true french cuisine...

Marcel's has a refreshingly original menu and a great lunch menu. I have been in search of a good Financial District location with interesting menu de jour options. Marcel's fits the bill. The food is good rather than excellent, but definitely a cut above the average fare and very good value. I would definitely return, especially given lunch menu.
Very good menu, excellent food quality and wine pairings.
My girlfriends and I recently had dinner at Marcel's during the Summerlicious menu. The food was very good and the service was even better!
We went for a romantic (as romantic as it could be with our seven month old in tow) lunch during Summerlicious. The selections were great, the food was very good, although the veal was not as tender as we might have liked. The service was excellent, although there were only a few diners when we went. They were very friendly and most helpful. Would definitely recommend Marcel's.
It was slow and sometimes that can make the service a little more lackadaisical, it doesn't work for me. I prefer my wait staff to be attentive. The appetiser we wanted wasn't available. The pasta wasn't available and the bill was brought with asking about dessert. The bison was tasty but unevenly butchered, therefore well at one end and medium at the other (versus the medium rare ordered).
Always busy at pre-theatre time, but if you go closer to 8 pm you can get a table plus good service. Great Food & good service.
Summerlicious 2013 Dinner Menu
Dined here the other night with a group of 12. The atmosphere is fine and the restaurant & bathrooms were neat and tidy.
The Summerlicious dinner menu is $35/pp.
The server, Tom, started out as nice and personable, but soon became too familiar and annoying...stop touching the shoulders of your diners! Not cool!
It seemed to be a chore to get some bread and...

We really wanted to go there for our anniversary dinner. We called, got a reservation, left a phone number in case something would go wrong and anticipated the dinner. But when we got there, we were told that the restaurant was closed because there were no reservations that night. We were invited to step in the downstairs restaurant (which is really bad, don't go there), into which the manager... more
The food was delicious and the service, prompt and friendly. The prices are very reasonable at around 50$ to 60$ per person. I would definitely go back.
"""This restaurant is one that has some identity issues. The area we called """"restaurant row"""" in the Entertainment District has many places that relied on the tourist market to support them. Marcel's is one of those that has the ability to be more than that. """
I compared a lot of menus online before hitting upon Marcel's and I think that their prices are probably best for the level of quality of virtually any French bistro in the area. They're located in the theatre district, so I feared it'd be chocked full of tourist types, but was pleasantly surprised to be the only customer. They're located above the St. Tropez, I think, so they're not at street... more
Was good enough for lunch. Could work for a romantic dinner… but don’t drink cuz the stairs are steep!
The staff is amazing and friendly and i must say that ambiance of the place suits the food and people. As for the meals, they are quite exquisite and have selective French aura to it
What a touristy place. Went once pre-dinner and felt like I was an out of towner eating at a restaurant that was doing me a big favour by eating there. I know other reviews rate this place highly but I dont get it. Six of us all were unimpressed by the selection and quality of some of the items.
French menu with lots of very thing for everyone. there french onion soup os classic, and by far the best I have had in a long time!
This is trully a hidden gem in Toronto. Fabulous food & service. Highly recommended!
Hello I went to Marcel's with my wife yesterday and I can say I was fully satisfied from the beginning to the end. Thank you to the staff.
Food was great. Service was great. AND they had air conditioning. While everyone else might look 'cool' sitting on a patio this weekend, we two old people were very happy in one of our 'cooler' favorite places.
It may have had to do with Mother's Day but the restaurant was empty and the pre-selected dinner menu from which we couldn't deviate was far more ordinary than previous reviews had suggested. Overall, the restaurant was decent and honest, certainly not living to the hype other reviewers have helped created.
Just wanted to tell everyone that I brought my Mother here for Mother's Day and we had a fabulous time. All I had to do was choose the restaurant and pay the bill. The rest was done by Marcel's and they did a super job. My Mother had a great time and really enjoyed herself (this from a woman not easy to please). I love it when I get all the glory for so little work on my part. Thank you... more
One of the best meals that I have had in quite awhile. The steak was delicious. Cooked perfectly and almost melted in my mouth. The Keg doesn't do it half as well. The Maitre D was the most charming man I think I have ever met. I will definately bring clients here in the future to impress them as well!
The food was amazing! The service was so attentive. The prices were very reasonable. What a great night out!
Our first trip to Toronto to celebrate my wife's birthday with the Toronto 3 package. We couldn't have had a better time. Thank's Marcel's
French ambience and cuisine for over 25 years. Steak frites, roasted lamb loin with rosemary-juniper reduction, and scallops with a Pernod velouté are among the possible mains. Lunch Tue.-Fri., dinner Tue.-Sat. Smart casual. Entrees: $23.50-$33. AE, MC, V.
Classic French dishes, a sizable wine list & a fixed-price menu in a petite 2nd-storey space.
Nuzzled between the city's popular Fashion and Entertainment Districts, Marcel's serves gourmet French cuisine that is en par with its counterparts in "La Ville-Lumière." Serving up the most traditional of meals, everything on the menu is grilled and seasoned to French perfection, from the roast duck to the seared Atlantic salmon. From Wednesday to Friday, diners can enjoy two three-course... more
Marcel's features authentic cuisine in an atmosphere that makes you feel as if Southern France had been brought to Toronto. The ambiance is French bistro but the food is much more, making it the perfect place for either a light lunch or a full-course evening. Creations of the house include omelettes du Jour, so do try them. Savor these with luscious wines served here, and end this delicious... more
Situated above the more casual Saint Tropez, Marcel's serves authentic southern French cooking, not an Americanized version with trendy ingredients. Popular items include pan-fried venison loin with wild cranberries and peppercorn sauce, and bouillabaisse-style fresh fish and seafood stew. Bright, airy, with large mirrors listing daily specials, this restaurant (not strictly speaking a bistro)... more
