Great pastry and lunch

Stopped in several times during my last visit to St. John's. Had lunch and pick up pasryies and brownies. Everything was fresh and tasty. They also have ice cream bars and sodas and make good coffee. Good place for a nice fresh sandwich for lunch, or grabbing snacks for a hike or sightseeing adventure.

I did Love Manna's

I was going to Manna's all the time and spending quite a bit of money there. A few times I went there and in the show case were these fresh fruit tarts with a chocolate on top. The bread and the ingredients are always fresh. There is a wide variety of sandwiches available. I've eaten here a number of times and never been disappointed.

1. The service is mostly awful!!! some of the staff seem upset your there, and are not overly eager to help

2nd visit not much better than 1st. Bread was old, stale, place is dirty, service stinks. Not European at all. I've had the catering before, it's ok. But to physically go there-yuck

Good food need improvement

The food is very great. I had the breaded chicken breast sandwich on pretzel bread, it was the best breaded chicken ever. The store need some update in the menu especially the coffe. The seating area need to be cleaned more often during busy hours.

Very Limited European Food

Was very disappointed. I am from Holland and was looking, especially at Christmas time, for Dutch and German Holiday Bread and treats, which were not offered.
The deli had very limited selection and not from western Europe.

Delicious food but extremely long wait

I should start by saying I hate line ups especially slow moving line ups! The breaded chicken sandwich on pretzel bread is soooo good that I stand in that slow moving line up. It is one of the best sandwiches I have ever had. The line up however is the definitely the downfall to this bakery/deli.

Came here once, will never be back. $20 for 2 dried out, poorly prepared sandwiches, and a bottle of pop. Terrible food, extremely overpriced, slow service, terrible customer service. If I could leave 0 stars, I would have.

Ordered a birthday cake in person yesterday for pick up at 4:00 today. Called to say I was on my way to pick it up. They never made it, no explanation, no phone call just total incompetance. Avoid this place.

The breads are the best!! Sandwiches are tender and again the homemade bread is worth it. The only downfall is the line-ups given its popularity expect a wait.

Don't Go At Peak Times, LOOOONG Line, but great sandwiches

We had 2 sandwiches with cheese and it came to $16.69 with tax, so it isn't cheap but they were tasty - we got there around 11:30 on a Wednesday and there were a few people ahead of us, by the time we sat down to eat the line up was all the way around the store!

Chicken sandwich to die for

This place is a happening spot lunch time! Its a bit pricey but the breads are delicious and its the best breaded chicken sandwich I have ever had in my life! I highly recommend it.

Bad service

Always loved Manna and am a frequent customer. The food is delicious, but I will not be ordering there anymore. I order there every weekend that I work, and get somebody to pick it up for me and deliver. Pricey

I went to pick up a sandwich for lunch which was made to order while I waited. I also pick up a tray of yogurt/granola bars. My sandwich bread was very fresh, but the turkey was dry; and I found the pre-packaged bars to be dry as well.

Great lunch

Love the Breaded chicken breast on whole wheat pretzel bread. Go early to avoid disappointment, there is often a line-up by 12:15 and they may run out of chicken breast.

This is one great place! The sandwich was truly amazing and so satisfying!
While I was happily munching on my sandwich I could hear other people thank Manna for the good food they enjoyed. I totally agree. The portions were good and healthy.

The bread and other baked goods are great, but you shouldn’t have to wait over 15 minutes in line for a bloody sandwich. Come on.

I really love their sandwiches, particularly their roast turkey. They do skimp however on the veggies and they could go a little heavier with the meat servings for the price they charge. Every time I go they are usually out of one veggie at least.

Food was great 5/5, the staff serving me were pretty rude. It was my first time there so I was asking about what my options were in terms of cheeses, breads, etc, things that I couldn’t find listed on the menu. Every honest question was scoffed, huffed and eye rolled. Sorry I’m not a pro at the deli…

Great place for a quick lunch, or breakfast (they offer a $5.00, taxes in, continental breakfast!). I split a crispy chicken sandwich on pretzel bread and it was enough for me.

They have a great selection of desserts and freshly baked breads as well.

this place has gone to pot! I remember when they started they were the best in town – that was too long ago now.
Poor baked sweets, never consistent. Poor staff – don’t seem to have a clue about customer service. And the place looks like a dump – it needs a good cleaning and reorganization.

LOVE the sandwiches from Manna. My personal favourite is roast turkey on multigrain, or breaded chicken on pretzel. The prices are a tad high, but I don’t particularly mind because it’s locally owned, fresh, and delicious. Also, a relatively healthy lunch option.

I find most of the staff working there now is very good. I go there a couple times a week for bread or a dessert and once and a while pick up a sandwich. I agree that they could use more veggies for their sandwiches and that their prices are expensive for what you get, but they’re nice sandwiches on fresh bread, so that’s a bonus. I looove their fresh rye bread.

The only way I would go back here for lunch is if they slashed their prices in half. There was nothing particularly wrong with the food, but 13 bucks for a cafeteria-style soup and sandwich (no drink) is insanse. I have been away from St. John's for six years, and still have not found bread as good as the bread at Manna. The roast chicken sandwich (with banana peppers) is the best anywhere.

Great spot for lunch

Lovely deli sandwiches and very pleasant, clean surroudings for lunch. I like to go there for a treat. Their breads are awesome, coffee is good and now they have pastries too. Yummy.

Best molasses raisin bread on the planet, especially when the crust is still soft. So far I have never had a bad experience with the staff. They have always been very accommodating.

Manna is a good place to grab a sandwich, a bowl of soup or a loaf of bread. Check it out if you're in the neighbourhood.

I used to frequent Manna on a regular basis but had not been there for over a year. I went there recently and had an awful chicken salad sandwich. It was full of knuckles and and the mayo was like water. I usually give places a second chance after a bad food but I am not sure I will go there again. Very disappointed. I also think the service is terrible.

Manna has some great baked goods. Their raisin bread is the best that I have tried in the city. However, the service there is terrible. Also, sometimes the bread I buy there goes bad 1-2 days after buying it.

Manna has REALLY good products, but if you find the staff stressed out/grumpy or whatever, try working there. Owner is terriable, makes everyone that way.

I've only ever had their Tuna salad sandwiches on Pumpernickel bread. I'll keep coming back, just for them. Big portion. Lots of choices for cheese and a hefty helping of side veggies.
