August 04, 2014We went in and ordered an easy breakfast, i had a blue steak.my girl grabbed some eggs and toast..food arrives..my steak is leather...i ask for another one..i was told i am not welcome and to leave,she bullied us till we left..do not reccommend this place to anyone!!!!!..seriously..send something back and find out how nice the chef is..i never thought resturants... more

Tasty food that highlights local farms
August 02, 2014We ate breakfast at this cute little dinner, and we were so glad we did! It is outside of the downtown area, but not too far. Food was very fresh, cooked perfectly, and priced well. Excellent breakfast all day
June 12, 2014Excellent breakfast, including choices such as peameal and eggs Benedict. They also serve sandwiches, fish & chips, homemade soup, homemade coleslaw, etc. They have a large parking lot of their own, so, unlike most restaurants in downtown Stafford, parking is easy. We eat there at least once every trip to Stratford.

Great lunch at Madelyn's

not my favourite
May 30, 2014It's been years since I've eaten here and I remember it as being quite good. Not this time though. The fries were soggy, the fish greasy and the service was terrible. The atmosphere is grungy and I don't think it's the cleanest either. At least I didn't spend a fortune to get bad food. I will not return.

May 23, 2014Came for lunch with my wife. She's had pecan salad and I had the fish on a bun special that included tomato vegetable soup. The soup was excellent. The fish on a bun was tasty. My wife's salad was no very fresh. Lots of wilted greens. Finished the meal with a yummy tart and coffee.

March 29, 2014Saw a sign said voted best fish n chips. Our order was taken and served very quickly. Service was excellent. Fish was cooked perfectly. My chips were not so good. Improper blanching of the fries left them firm in the middle and soggy on the outside. One of the problems with fresh cut fries.

I commend Madelyn's for getting most of their products from local suppliers. But after saying that, if you look at their menu you will find that except for the salads and desserts, most of the main menu items are grilled or deep fried.

5 Stars just because of the Butter Tarts

My boyfriend and I love Butter Tarts and have had our share from different places, these are hands down the best! We actually make trips from Woodstock to Stratford just to get them. Love that they offer different flavours, even bacon, and their pastry is to die for....they don't cheap out on the filling either (pecans, bacon, ect.)

It's worth the drive for a Butter Tart

They only offer 1 version, egg on peameal on a toasted muffin, smothered in sauce. Add in a Farmers Sausage, 2 cooked butterfly style that are soooooo tasty. All this for $13 and change.

We had a terrific lunch (both of us were delighted) and great service at this little gem. Very simply prepared and presented but the proof was in the taste-really good and fresh.
