Best Mac & Cheese I've had in a long time!
I had a simple Mac & Cheese and it was very creamy and cheesy which I like. It tasted Homemade and tasted amazing.

I love this place. You can choose from classics or build your own. Perfect for anyone and any craving and they even have gluten free options. Delicious. Only downfall is that it's a bit over priced and they don't serve you or refill your drinks etc.
Drove across the city to try the Mac Shack last night, arrived around 5:30pm and all the lights were out and a note was on the front door, definitely not open. Didn't bother to stop and read it I was so mad I drove across town for them not to be open.
As a mac & cheese lover, I had come a few times back right when they first opened but had not been back in quite a while. It's still a great concept, and a good place for some comfort food (but beware, rich and fattening).
However, they have made a few little changes since my last visit that disappointed me. First, the "build your own" option is not quite as flexible as it was before...now it...

When I go to eat Mac and Cheese I expect thick, creamy, cheesey flavours.
The mac was slightly overcooked, the sauce although tasty was a bit too watery and the cheesy felt slightly gritty. For a place specializing in this, we were quite disappointed.
As both my children love mac and cheese, the Mac Shack is a good dining option.
While my children raved about their meals (cheesy and creamy), expectations should be kept in check, as the restaurant is most definitely a casual/relaxed setting with high appeal for kids and students.
Wow! , well management better be checking with their Saturday day night staff cause they are closing 15 min before the bell tolls and that is just money lost on your account. You already have a pretty shotty review on one of the most highly used restaurant apps out there and now you'd just rather close up shop than actually prove yourself to 5 people outside your door, in hours your open mind... more
I was very excited when exploring Kerrisdale to see the Mac Shack. I mean who doesn't love mac and cheese?!
The interior is a solid 5 stars, and the service was fine. The lesson here never judge a book by it's cover started the moment my food arrived. The mac and cheese smelled odd. I can't even describe it.
Then I bite into my food. Pure disappointment set in. Oily mac and cheese? It wasn't...

I am never having Mac and cheese again. I had the lobster one and it was disgusting. The grease that was pouring out of there (I'm not a health nut and I love my greasy food but this was too much) it was absolutely unpleasant. I really wanted to like this place as it's a convenient location and my 4 kids love mac and cheese. The times I've gone though there was always something they were out of. Whether it's beer (sheesh), root beer/and or ice cream for a root beer float, etc.

I wanted to try their Lobster Mac & Cheese, but apparently they were all sold out. I tried their cauliflower special, and it was okay. I was pretty underwhelmed by their food. I think I could have made something better and with more flavor. For the price? I'll stick to Kraft Dinner.
I've walked by The Mac Shack dozens of times and each time I think to myself, "damn, that sounds like a dream come true" but I've never been hungry enough to step in.
Well, today that changed. My dining partner and I were greeted by an enthusiastic woman at the counter who gave us a run down of what this place is about (spoiler: mac and cheese) and I was pretty stoked. We were suggested to try...

Would I go back? Yes, but only because I was invited to; As was the case this second time around. Nothing is wrong with their food, it was great tasting and decreased my hunger. But it is nothing worth spending money on. It is so easy to make Mac and cheese and add in additional ingredients you want mid way - It's called "Hamburger Helper". My point is, I can make it myself, why should I spend... more
This place is a solid two star restaurant.
When I saw that they were opening a Mac and Cheese place I was intrigued, when I saw the first reviews especially the Lobster Mac I knew I'd have to check it out.

All I can say is I was quite disappointed. For being a place that specializes in Mac and cheese, you would expect something great! Maybe I needed to order something with a bit more ingredients... But still, If the classic Mac and... more

Blech. I had such high hopes for this place, and even got a coupon for to try them out (promo they had on Twitter). But even eating here for for free didn't make it good. The noodles were rubbery, and everything tasted really bland.

Before The Mac Shack opened, I was beyond excited. However, after a few solid tries, I've come to the conclusion that they are not interested in making good Mac n Cheese. Really disappointing since it's not very complicated. Cheese should be integral but, even in the four cheese version, it's an afterthought. I guess that explains why the word cheese isn't in their name.

I went to this location because a friend of mine strongly recommended it to me. I have to admit I was really disappointed. The food was really bland. My mac and cheese, really lacked of seasoning. The mac shack was absolutely delicious for around the first two months that it was open, the cheese sauce was thick, delicious and tasted like it actually had cheese in it.
Excellent! Negative reviews are hard to fathom. Food is great, portions are generous, staff is courteous and friendly, and prices are reasonable.
Mac and cheese is such a quintessential comfort food. On chilly, wet Vancouver days it's the perfect pick-me-up when you have a case of the soggy winter blues. I had heard a lot about this place and I wasn't sure what to expect when we strolled it. I was surprised that it wasn't as... restaurant-y as I expected. Great comfort food , love the new combos , good food and service great for the kids
The food is okay. I can make better mac 'n' cheese at home for far less money.
Was very disappointed! When it first opened I thought the concept was great! However, after paying high end restaurant prices (can't believe I did that) for two very small pans of pasta (small now called regular) almost $40 my opinion has changed. It used to be full of people and now is empty. They got the high school crowd but personally don't know how they afford it anymore. It is just pasta.... more

Stepped in at 6, sees the cashier eatting at the counter... Service was was alright but the food was meh. Little to no cheese flavor in the chicken pesto mac. Also lacking protein. I literally only ate 8 very small barely noticeable pieces of chicken in a large. Will definitely not return due to c@!%!y quality of food for a higher price for Mac n cheese.
Okay after driving by this place numerous times I finally had a chance to try it out. Now, I have to say a good mac and cheese is a truly wonderful thing so I was stoked to try this place.

It's amazing! Not sure why thereare so many negative reviews. Wish I had time to write more, but you won't go wrong here!
UHGGG. my daughter and I went in for lunch, she had the plain mac and cheese and I had the chorizo. Both our orders were luke warm, the noodles were huge and bland. My daughters tasted like a water and flour mix poured on the noodles, mine was similar but for the over salted sausage and 3 random unground peppercorns.. don't bother lol
Incredibly tasty! I had the Creamy Pesto Chicken Mac ($14.99 + 1.25 for bacon) and my friend had the Bacon Cheeseburger Mac ($12.99). Both were very tasty; the "large" serving is definitely suitable for two and I'm looking forward to taking the leftovers home.
I LOVE mac and cheese, so I thought this was going to be my new favourite restaurant. Should've read the reviews first! The customer service was lousy, and I can make tastier mac and cheese at home, with better quality ingredients. I'll stick with Burgoo.
Disappointment is an understatement: one would certainly think that a restaurant called The Mac Shack that specializes in Mac and Cheese would be somewhat decent?!? The food was absolutely disgusting and based on later sickness am quite certain that the lobster in the Mac & Cheese... more

So....... this place has your traditional mac and cheese comfort food I had as a child, but with more variety. I went here for the first time yesterday. I decided to try The Brooklyn after much debate. The menu is neat. They have a lot of different varieties of mac'n cheese; however, the dish I had wasn't all that cheesy. It wasn't bad tasting, but it wasn't what I expected either. The Mac Shack: Great concept, but a huge disappointment.
I was intrigued about this idea of being served comfort food with several variations. I remember when this place first opened and everyone was talking about it. So we tried out the shack and have to agree with most of the previous reviewers, nothing to write home about here. I was actually kind of hesitant going in here, people had written some harsh reviews and a restaurant devoted to only one thing can easily be a 'miss'. Great service - the servers were friendly and fun. It is a nice little place to enjoy a Mac n cheese, which they have quite a large variety of. I regret not getting their other "flavors". I munched off my friend's "the Royale" and... more
Have again: pesto chicken and four cheese were very good, with the pesto being the best. The bacon cheeseburger was ok, a bit too chewy and not enough bacon.
So disappointed! You would think if you specialize in a particular type of food that it would be consistent and good every time ~ sadly this was not. We had been here five months ago and had ordered the same thing. The four cheese mac and the lobster mac, both were fantastic ~ very creamy, lots of cheese and very flavorful. Yesterday's meal was bland and dry, not sure what happened to all the... more
I like this place, I really do. However, I think their prices are a bit excessive. The first time I was here, I ordered the regular ole' mac and cheese, plain and simple. I am seriously eating Mac Shack right now and wishing how I had just saved my time and money and made a box of Kraft. I was oh so excited to come here and I really wanted to love it, but even with a Groupon to sweeten their chances of a shiny little review here, Mac Shack is a definite no go for me. The timeless tastiness of Mac and cheese is undeniable and the Mac shack taps this rich culinary vein with moderate but never overwhelming success. My fellow diners sent back their skillets due to the addition of some unintended ingredients of the follicular variety and there was an annoying issue of double charging on my credit card. These two incidents will dissuade my continued patronage.
I really love the ambiance here. It's like a very comfortable, modern diner. You order at the cash register and then they bring you your food and drink.

I went there with 6 girlfriends. The experience is great, it is a little far from downtown. We each ordered a medium skilet (which was way too much) and all of them were lacking cheese and overall taste. We were pretty disappointed. I went to this "Shack" last week, excited for some great comfort food....Unfortunately, it was a big let down. I can't understand why they wouldn't mix in the cheese on the dish. What point is it to be so stingy on toppings? You aren't fooling anyone - it just looks cheap.
