Rest in peace you glorious almost-dive bar. We had many a good times on the rotting deck and in the windows talking about how this place needs a tune up and solving the worlds problems while sipping the best Big Rock Trad draft in town! Hopefully downtown lives up to snuff.
Not sure why there are so many negative reviews. I come here all the time and always have fun. The servers are always friendly and there is usually awesome live music.
Decided to come here because I had heard good things about the place. Rather disappointed! Server was too busy pushing her chests on the table with a group of men. Waited awhile to get a drink & when she came up she said 'would you like anything?' No I just want to sit here & stare at my husband on a Friday night?!? Then when she brought our drinks she waited expecting a tip?? Will not be back... more
I have been a regular to Lydias for sometime..when i first moved here, it felt like a good place to go to meet new people and hear great local music. Lately it has lost some flavour, in every way possible. I had gone out for their famous Burger and Pint night..but after waiting close to 10 mins to get a beer and getting frustrated with the wait went to the bar..the bartender told me she'd be... more
Can anyone explain to me what happened to this place? Such an extreme downfall in such a short time. RIP Lydia's.
Well... I agree with Robin M. Lydia's used to be cool and full of eclectic people of all ages. I was here this week to check out a great band, but the crowd was mostly kids 19-25yrs old which took away a bit of the fun as a mature adult. And this being the case, I actually care about the decor and condition of the place, which now feels like a dive. Especially the women's restroom. It was gross... more
I get wasted here every Tuesday! Bacon cheddar burg & a pint fo 7 bucks, how can you go wrong? Plus there's always kv magic to look forward to. Yea boi!
Lydia's is a loud bar with live music, so don't expect fancy food in a posh restaurant. I've been here a couple of times in the last few months - the last time, I had a cumin chicken burger and I thought it was quite good. My co-workers liked the nacho plate they ordered. The bathrooms are not filthy as a past reviewer claimed, although there was a rather pungent odour. Overall, it's a decent... more
Lydia's used to be a Saskatoon institution, a Broadway must-stop, a place to meet and make friends. What once was the best (and almost only) place to check out some great music in Saskatoon, Lyd's has somehow been mismanaged to the ground. Mixtape Mondays? Really, Lydia's? Is that the best you can do these days?
Bad food, bad vibe, bad crowd, poor management. Sure, touring bands will still...

Went here for burger and beer night and ordered 2 veggie burgers. After waiting around 30 minutes the waitress.brought us our meals but they had bacon on them! We returned the burgers and expected to wait another half hour, which wasnt a problem. However the waitress returned quick with what we thought were new burgers but they had simply removed the beacon and brought us the same ones! (bacon... more
Outside of the best-deal-in-town burger & beer special, you probably shouldn't eat at Lydia's if you're expecting exceptional pub grub.
Lydia's rocks I've been there countless times for the burger & beer deal!!
I go to Lydia's to dance, drink beer and meet people. I don't go there for a gastropub experience. I like their burger and beer special, although when it's busy it seems to take longer than it should. But really, you're paying $6.50 for a pint AND a burger and fries. It's supposed to be a live music venue people, not a sit down fine dining experience.
This place is a dump. It's dirty, rundown, and stinky. The bathrooms remind me of the movie Trainspotting. Also, the Guinness is poor quality.
I cannot comment on the food, but I do not think it's necessary. It's a pub. I think Lydia's is a great place to hang out and have a few drinks, check out the local bands, listen to some Sunday night poetry... etc. The atmosphere is really great, the pool room downstairs is an added bonus. The servers have always been very friendly.
Terrible service on the patio, but if you sit inside it smells like a dirty litterbox in there.
I would suggest you avoid it like the plague.
I read these reviews and realise that people are fairly ignorant. What do you think the food will be like? Its a pub for criyin out loud! This isnt Toronto, its buttF#@k saskatchewan. Relax and have some good pints. If you want a fancy meal, made it your dang self! People who are reviewing the food in pubs like this expect waaaayyyy too much. Lower your standards and be greatful for what you so... more
Pretty nice decor, average food ... but the staff at this "gem" absolutely ruin it. Slow, surly and inattentive, it seems as though everyone from the sound manager to the goof behind the bar feels compelled to show off an "I don't care, about you" attitude. A real disappointment when I take out-of-town professional visitors for an evening of entertainment, only to have it ruin by forgetful... more
Stopped by Lydia's last night for dinner and was seriously disappointed.
Lydia's Pub is an extremely popular hangout among locals of different age groups. This neighborhood pub not only offers great dining options but it also entertains its guests with live music performances every day. Comprising a main floor and a loft, private parties and gatherings can be also be conducted here. Rental facilities are available as well.
