Not all it's cracked up to be
August 04, 2014

The bistro itself is very nice. Interesting decorating ideas. Service was very poor. Our waitress had little enthusiasm when talking to us and looked as though she didn't really want to be there. Food was very good, but also slow to receive. Our waitress was never to be seen again. We waited 20

My parents had reserved for us on August 3rd a dinner out for our year one. It took 30 minutes for someone to acknowledge us and bring us a menu and ask us if we wanted drinks. They did not come back for another 20 minutes. My husband has a severe dairy allergy and asked the waitress if his order... more

Food was great. Service was a little slow and servers forgot things like condiments for toast and ketchup. We were celebrating a bday and were provided with a free piece of cake. Also, refills on coffee were free.

My wife and I fancied a quick trip to a lovely country venue prior to going berry picking. We had passed the Bistro many times and thought we would give it a whirl as we had heard good things about it. Was I disappointed. A beautiful warm evening,, but, very humid so we chose to eat inside even though the patio looked very nice. We found it very noisy inside. The service was great as was the food....except for the calamari which was very rubbery. The salads and the dessert were delicious. The entree could have been a bit hotter. I found the price... more

Went to the Lowville Bistro for lunch with a friend and found the location great as it was a short pleasant drive in the country from Burlington. There is a patio but we chose to eat inside. June 30, 2014

My husband and I had lunch at the Lowville Bistro this past Saturday and were very impressed with both the food and the service. We both ordered the pasta specials of the day and were amazed at the flavor of the sauce. I went to this restaurant on Mother's Day with my mum and I must say it was an absolute delight. The owner accommodated us with no reservations on a full night. April 19, 2014

I stopped in to Lowville Biatro this afternoon to order a sandwich to go. First off, there was no vegetarian option on the menu in regards to sandwiches. And I believe the only other vegetarian options were a Greek salad, a spicy pasta and maybe a breakfast item (French toast).
After reviewing the menu I asked the gentleman for the... more

This was our favourite local bistro for years, until last Sunday. My wife and I always share the entree and dessert. We don't do it to economize. We can't handle the too-large servings most restaurants still put out.
However, the bill for this lunch of one soup, one entree, two glasses of wine and cups of coffee, and one dessert... more

There is nothing that compares to a Sunday evening at The Lowville Bistro. Cozy, intimate, upscale. Laid back and friendly. You feel right at home the moment you walk in the door. I took my lady friend out for a birthday dinner and to enjoy the jazz. We thoroughly enjoyed both! I went last night for the 4th time in a row they told me they didn't have any more of the Chef's special left (it was 7pm). I had to settle for something different, that's fine I guess. Sunday nights is jazz night. Make reservations and expect upscale menu for fine dining or order a wood thin crust pizza. We tried the pizza and had the swordfish. Both fantastic. I never walked out while waiting for service, especially when I was hungry. Our area outside was poorly lit, they did not supply us with a candle or turn on a light. Last night, a group of us went to Lowville Bistro for a night of dinner and jazz and had a great time. We've been here a few times and food has been great each time. If you are there in nice weather it has a nice secluded patio you can eat at. I've never had such Brusque service. Visited on Sunday,Sept. 1st. Restaurant was pleasant but extremely noisy. The jazz was great but you had to practically yell to carry on a conversation.
Food was okay but very over priced for what you got. House wines are also overpriced at $12 and up per 6 oz. glass.
Overall, not worth the money!
