We always have to stop here when out of town guests come up for a visit. The kids (and adults) love the pastries. Did lunch here a couple of times recently and the vegetarian chili is awesome. Would be nice if they were open on Sundays and Mondays too
Stopped in mid afternoon for coffee. Enjoyed homemade chicken sausage roll (local sausage) and a couple of baked goods. All baked on premises and all very good. Highly recommended.
Once we found this wonderful bakery we went twice a day while in Sooke. The strudel was the best we've ever had, the rye bread delicious and a beautiful texture and the coffee the best we had in Sooke. They quickly understood how to make it the way I wanted. The staff were friendly and helpful and attentive to dietary... more
We did a 4200km road trip all around the Pacific Northwest and hit over 30 restaurants in the process. At the completion of our journey when we asked our kids what restaurant was their favourite of all the spots we visited they said the "Little Vienna Bakery" and said that their flour less hazelnut crunch bar was their all time... more
Arrived after they had finished for lunch, but they still accommodated us and we had an excellent lunch. Very clean, friendly and tasty food. The pie was delicious.
A great place to stop in for fresh food.
Ate outside in a nice little garden, staff very friendly and would certainly go back.
The pastries really are the star here. On Saturdays there are creeps with limited range of fillings, but nice. Skip the French toast - very mediocre. The pizza special was okay. You need to have time here as the service is not quick. Coffee is pricey and you will need several cups if you are waiting. The pastries and bread... more
My friend and I were just out exploring our own backyard (we live in Victoria), and decided to stop for a little refreshment. We were met by a very friendly owner, who helped us decide what we wanted. I had the amazing broccoli salad, and then one of the equally amazing Schnecke with a very good cup of coffee made... more
Gorgeous little cafe right in town. Decorated like a cafe in Europe. The coffee was fantastic, the croissant breakfast sandwich delicious. The service and conversation with the owner was excellent. The outdoor patio was gorgeous with flowers in bloom and hidden from the road. Highly recommend this place!!!
Saw it off to the side of the road. Don't pass it by. Excellent home made deliciousness. They know how to make a great cup of java. Wonderful pastries. We ended up ordering extra strudel with whipped cream and we had already had a cinnamon roll. Customer service was friendly and on top of it. Wish I had one back... more
As a travelling couple we are dietary challenges to a lot of cafes we go to being a vegetarian + vegan couple. The staff at Little Vienna were so accommodating we had one of the most memorable meals of our week long trip here. Highly recommended.
Fantastic place for breakfast, brunch or lunch, if if your on the run, grab it to go. Snacks and cakes are absolutely fantastic...one of my favourite eateries in Sooke. Happy friendly staff make the place a must if you find yourself in Sooke.
By slow service I mean that I have walked out of the bakery due to the lengthy wait at the cash till. It's not that there are many in the line, it's that it seems to take forever to process each customer. Bread is very good but the loaves seem to be getting smaller over the years particular since the... more
By far the best place in Sooke for a bowl of soup or a sandwich. Choice is limited but to be expected in a small town establishment. What they do is done very well. I always pick up a loaf of their oat bread when it is available.(usually on Tuesdays)
The Island has many excellent bakeries but if you are in Sooke, you can't go wrong at the Little Vienna. The strudel is a good as I have ever had anywhere, very light and not too sweet. Excellent with a good coffee. They had everything from Haystacks to really good looking flour dusted, round white loaves. Unfortunately I was stuck... more
I was let down by the amount of selection. Not sure if it was the time of day I went. Will try again.
Our B&B suggested we try Little Vienna Bakery and we were so happy we listened! They could not have been more helpful, explaining the many choices of sandwiches and pastries that are all made on site. Their scone was the best we have had anywhere...bar none! And the turkey sandwich was on a freshly baked baguette..with real sliced turkey, not... more
We stopped into Little Vienna to see if they could do up some sweets for my friends wedding on short notice and they stopped what they were doing to sit down with us to make a plan. They helped us with suggestions and had no problem accommodating our requests to have the sweets ready within a couple of days. We... more
One of those darling places you always revisit when in Sooke. Wonderful sandwiches + pastries and a tea room atmosphere with little tables to sit at. Counters with interesting things on them, if I remember correctly!
Such a find for the small community by the sea. Great treats and wonderful sandwich. Americano was too watery for me but nice variety of drinks and great dining area. Would definitely go back again - hard to not over indulge.
Genuine European baking, lovely garden, good service. For a treat try the Kaiser Kuchen. Actually, everything is a treat.
this cafe has a very nice outdoor seating area, even though it's on the main road. Their Nanaimo bars are great!
We had lunch twice at Little Vienna during our stay in Sooke. The food is fresh, made to order, and they were happy to make substitutions on request. The owner was there on both visits and personally asks everyone if they are happy with their meal. But the best was a caramel nut topped cake which was possibly the best... more
Lovely little cafe with excellent sandwiches on handmade bread and fabulous sweets. Appreciated the attention to quality and the kindness of the staff. Have eaten there each time I have been in Sooke.
Would like to highly recommend Carol and Sheri for their professional, courteous, cheerful friendly service. Unknown to us it was 1/2 hour before the bakery was going to be closed. In spite of having no bread left for sandwiches and my spouse's heart set on a sandwich made a delicious bunwich exclusively incorporating the finest ingredients. Both ladies were cheerful... more
Stopped in for a coffee to go and ended up staying to have the savoury breakfast crepe. For $9.95, we got three crepes filled with ham, cheese, egg, and topped off with an incredible lemon infused sauce. Wow! Enough to split between the two of us as we were hungry but not starved. The latte was really good too. We... more
We had a fantastic lunch at the restaurant and went back the following day. The desserts were amazing the service was quick and kind. The owner Michael was eager to greet us and share his passion for the food and community. My kids were comfortable on the patio and we got t0 enjoy their modest yet well kept garden, very... more
Both these items were delicious! We will definitely be returning for a rerun of this order and to try other delectables.
My wife and I recently spent a weekend in the hidden gem of Sooke, BC. One of our favourite places was Little Vienna. We knew it was going to be good when the customers on their way out of the cafe were stopping to rave about their lunch. On our first stop, I ordered the cucumber & sprout sandwich loaded... more
I have to say this is one of the best bakeries I've visited - and I've traveled all over France. Their lemon Copenhagen is to die for!! We loved it so much, we had to come back for more. I only wish the Bakery was in Vancouver or that we lived in Sooke so we could eat there all the... more
Happened upon this bakery/cafe by chance on a drive from Victoria along the the coast. Had a lovely bowl of buttersquash and roast garlic soup for lunch followed by a cake and tea. Extremely friendly and helpful staff and would highly recommend it. They will make sandwiches and also sell some specialist cheeses. Also noticed it will be serving breakfasts... more
Having spent the past couple of days in Victoria it was time to venture out. I decided I'd have my lunch in Sooke. While the drive is not terribly straightforward for a tourist it was well worth the trouble when I happened upon the only remaining bakery in Sooke. The staff were friendly and all the baked goods exceedingly tempting.... more
We love the food at Little Vienna Bakery and have gone there many times. The bakery products are superb, especially the bread, but the cookies and muffins are fantastic too. The lattes are excellent.

This is a business we can't drive by, on every visit to Sooke we have to get something.
The quality is consistent as well as the service.
Grab a Sandwich, bread or desert.
We wish them the very best!
This is a wonderful place to stop for lunch or just a tea (or coffee) and dessert. The service is great and the staff very friendly. Michael, the owner, if he is there, will always come by and greet you with a little chat. Very comfortable atmosphere and a charming patio out back for those warm, sunny days.
My husband and I stayed in Sooke for a week in March. We were very impressed with the quality of the baking at this little hidden gem. We were even more pleased with the great service we received. The staff were all great, with a big thank you to Carol and Michelle. They treated us so well that we were... more
This bakery had a nice decor and pretty good coffee, but the pastries were very over priced and not too tastey.
Wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
Contrary to what we might have thought before our visit, he liked it more than she did. That could have been due, in part, to her poor order choice; The Parisienne, which lacked substance overall, making it of questionable value, but she was also disappointed with the soup of the day; mushroom, as it lacked flavor.
His sandwich, the Roast...

It is true that Lil Vienna's Kaiser Kuchen has healing properties and my husband is proof. Xmas 2011, I almost lost my husband, who lives with End Stage Multiple Sclerosis, to Renal Failure. He lost a great deal of weight and his love of food. We completely embraced healthy eating (along with juicing, no narcotics and natural supplements) and one... more
Michael and his team are professional and easy to work with. Here's why: from the get-go, Michael showed enthusiasm for being a part of a surprise birthday. He always replied to e-mails in a timely, accomodating manner. In fact, Michael even offered to deliver the cake at our B & B - eventhought 'A Point of View' would've been out... more
Just want to express our appreciation to Michael and his staff for the positive and very friendly welcome that we received while visiting Little Vienna Bakery. It is truly a pleasure to discover what we consider to be Sooke's Hidden Treasure. The quality of the food and the friendly service made it a real treat. We will be back soon..Ralph... more
We found out that this bakery will bake special order with substituted ingredients. My kids cannot have sugar (sucrose) so they are always missing out at birthday parties, etc. However, we have twice ordered a modified chocolate cake with agave as a sweetener instead of sugar. It was JUST as good or BETTER and even had layers of icing (sweetened... more
Little Vienna has beautiful tortes, desserts and breads to take home. But for me, the lattes and the treats available for consumption on the spot are what bring me back time after time. Flourless chocolate brownies or cake, and the various pastries are so tastey, and the veggie chili is one of my favorite lunchtime treats.
We stopped by for breakfast - a gluten-free breakfast sandwich, which was delicious. I'd had their gluten-free bread at Mom's Cafe and was happy to find the source of the bread. We stocked up on gluten-free (and other) treats for the trip home. A gem of a spot in Sooke for those of us with special diets and their partners... more
I first located Little Vienna Bakery online, when in Portugal, whilst researching Sooke prior to our trip for places to visit during our three week stay in the area. We here and have visited Little Vienna Bakery a few times now.

Quaint little bakery in Sooke, we stopped by to pick up a snack for later & left with much more. Lemon pound cakes were moist, heavy & oh so lemony!
Oustanding selection of breads, GF items, excellent lunches. This bakery makes the bread for Markus restaurant anonther place that you have to eat at.
I'm a regular at all the eateries in the Victoria area and living in Sooke I quite often pop into Vienna for anything from a quick coffee or a full lunch either by myself or all my family. Having recently been told that I was nut, dairy and gluten intolerant I am new to checking before I purchase and consume.... more
We stopped in here for a sweet treat after lunch and were kind of disappointed. Not too much selection and what we did have was just average. The girl behind the counter was very nice and helpful though and tried to make our experience a good one. I would give it a second try to see if things were different.... more
If ever in Sooke (30 minutes West of Victoria), you have to stop in at the Little Vienna Bakery for some dessert and a coffee.
