Oh, the glamor! You may want to keep your shades on 24/7 at this socialista destination extraordinaire. Restored 19th century building with high, high ceilings, dramatic draping and every possible flourish. Skip up to the rooftop terrace of the hotel bar, Suite 701. Next stop, Rainspa, for authentic hammam. You might just move in.
This is my third time staying at this hotel and it is always a pleasure. However this stay was my most disappointing. I stayed in an executive suite. The paint was peeling on the ceiling in the bedroom and on the wall behind the bedroom door. The Wi-Fi was only strong enough if you sat int the bathroom by the... more
We were very happy with the organization of our "one day" meeting.
Arrangements were very easy to make, planning was flawless and the guests felt very welcomed.
The price is fair, the food is good, add to this an exceptionnal customer service and there you have it, a great day, in a great hotel.
We have already reserved for our...

The Place d'Armes has expanded from one building to now three. Rooms are large in the two newest buildings and well decorated. Also very clean and quiet. Location is ideal for someone who wants to discover the charms of the Old Montreal area by foot. Parking is a bit tricky and taxi drivers usually drop one off on a side street which is not the main lobby entrance. If you are carrying several... more
We enjoyed our three days in this hotel. With a south facing room we could open the window and let the lovely April sunshine stream in. It was roomy enough that we could entertain 5 with wine from the SAQ (liquor store) around the corner. Staff were most helpful.
We recently stayed at Le Place D'Armes Hotel in old Montreal and had a great experience. We had purchased our room from a discount site and when we got to the hotel for check in we were able to upgrade to a Junior Suite for $20. The suite featured an exposed brick wall, a jacuzzi tub and a great view... more
A group (8) of us stayed at Le Place d'Armes Hotel in 4 rooms for 2 nights, and everyone was impressed with thier rooms and overall experience. Large rooms and bathrooms that were very nicely appointed. Clean and quiet. Our room was right across from the elevator and yet it was very quiet. Great staff - very friendly and helpful... more
Perfect location in old Montreal. Beautiful hotel with amazing staff.
Very friendly staff! Accommodating towards non French speaking guests. Pricey? Yes! Luxurious to a fault. We spent the weekend at the hotel in celebration of our 22nd wedding anniversary. We were very surprised when a plate of chocolate covered strawberries and a written note of congratulations arrived at our door on our second night? Very classy! Large room, comfortable bed... more
I stayed at Place d"armes for one evening on a company paid stay while en route to another city. My premise is this: $283 for hotel room and the room was barley acceptable (see pictures). A stained bed chair and the AC did not work properly. Since I was there for a short stay, I chose not to address the... more
My husband and I recently stayed here celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. And did we choose right!!! This is a wonderful hotel from all standpoints. The hotel is elegant, but not fussy. The room(we had a suite) was spacious, comfortable, and had every amenity you could ask for. What made this a better hotel than most, is the staff. A... more
Was pleasantly surprised in Old Montreal. Heritage building...modern lobby...nice rooms. Simple luxury...hardwood floors, brick walls, etc. combined with flat screen tv. restaurant food ok. friendly staff, very accommodating. Rate reasonable.
Small peeves: Had to call back to reverse a charge put through after checkout. Charged for breakfast when it was supposed to be included, and 2 bottled...

I travelled alone to Montreal with my two young daughters. The hotel was beautiful! We stayed in a 2 room suite that was very spacious and felt more like our home away from home. The hotel is steps away from Notra Dame in the centre of Old Montreal and near everything. We even walked to St. Catherine Street shopping district... more
Nice place, great location, would recommend again. I did not stary there myself but booked it for friends who wanted to stay in that area. The only problem is that they got a room that smelled of smoke. Otherwise 5 stars for the money.
hotel in good location plus very clean rooms! !recommended!
Beautiful hotel in great area but acoustics are pretty horrible between rooms and floors. The restaurant on the main floor turns into a club with loud music, and one person from my party had a room above it and could not have survived without ear plugs. So bring some! But otherwise clean and beautiful.
I was very impressed. One of the best hotels in Canada I stopped at so far. Modern rooms, good service, great location. Very business-oriented
I was a little surprised that Le Place D'Armes Hotel was so reasonably priced - but after staying there, I may have a better understanding. The hotel has the décor that I love, the makings of a lodge in the middle of a big city. Leather, exposed brick, wood floors, fireplaces - it just exudes comfort. I stayed in a Junior Suite with Balcony. There wasn't a great view from the balcony - a... more
Very nice hote located within the old district of Montreal. Hotel room is amazing and restaurant delightfull.
Very cool/funny/proffesional staff. The thing that p@!%!d me off was the bedroom. Toilet isn't being cleaned properly (it smells really bad). Shower head barely worked, water took like 5-10 minutes to heat up. Another annoyance was, constantly having to call from desk about different free commodities that came with our bedroom. I feel like with the money being spent, everything should be in our... more
I find this a little less remarkable than others. It's good, clean, elegant and attentive. It also has small rooms, broken blinds and broken cue tips. Doesn't seem important, except the apparent manager of the cleaning staff got on the elevator and instead of waiting for the guests to leave, showed us she was more important that us by leaving first and then blocking the small hall by... more
We loved this place.. Great location.. Excellent, knowledgeable staff and wonderful rooms. Only drawback was that the room was a tad dark..
We just checked into this hotel, and it's beautiful! The front desk staff were so nice and friendly. We're staying in an Executive Suite, so we expect niceness, but it's more than expected. When we entered our room, our fireplace was already turned on for us - so was the music. I'm going to enjoy staying here so much---I'm so spoiled!!!
The Junior Suite which was our choice of room it was very comfortable and very clean. The only down side was the room had no refrigerator...Walking distance to nice shops, stores, restaurants and night life. The hotel staff was very helpful and friendly definitely planning to visit Montreal again..
It was a good hotel, good location, close to all interesting things to visit in Monreal
very positive. Excellent location. Very comfortable rooms. Only negative was that during the week was rather noisy outside due to street noise.
Spent a night here last week in a Junior Sweet and was blown away. Gorgeous room, free standing tub, and king size bed.Located in picturesque old Montreal and close to shopping, bars and business district. Will stay here again.Tip: We got a great deal on a junior suite from Expedia.
good location in Old Montreal, near many of the sites. Subway conveniantly located around the corner. Breakfast was ok, not great. staff was very helpful and polite.air conditioning noisy, but kept room cool.
This is a fantastic hotel in an excellent location both for the conference centre and the and the best places for evening dining and relaxation. The hotel staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Food was also good, breakfasts were relaxed and lunch on the rooftop terrace in the sun was just wonderful. I would definately aim to stay there again when I visit Montreal.
Great location in Old Montreal 1 block from metro old town area really great places to eat sightseeing etc. Staff was great Roof top terrace was really fun Would recccomend to anyone traveling to Montreal
My wife and I planned a vacation to visit Montreal, QC for the first time. We had friends that lived there locally we stayed with for a couple days. Our last night there I had planned a special night in the old part of town and booked a room here. This place leaves a big impression on you. Just from the decor on the inside of the hotel, bar, and lounge areas it is very classy and modern. I... more
6 nights in Place d'Armes, perfectly located close to old Montreal and to the Centre des Congres. Friendly, but professional staff. Marvelous terrasse, with good food and good beers, very convivial. We tested the restaurant twice, the food was great. The hotel can be recommended without restriction.
Adorable, historic building with modern upgrades and an old-time feel. The staff were welcoming and responsive; the room the was immaculate! the music was playing upon my arrival and i had a wonderful view. i attended a conference at the convention center so it was the ideal location. Only bummer: the restaurant was extremely overpriced.
Came across this hotel when looking to go to Montreal for a weekend getaway. The hotel is beautiful and could almost be mistaken for an older apartment building from the outside. It truly matches the Old Montreal area and gives you the feel that your in Europe. Given the outside look, I was surprised to see how amazing the rooms were. Half of the walls in the hotel room were brick and the room... more
Service was impeccable. Room was great but cold. We were on the 2nd floor and the heating system did not seem to be able to cope. It is an old building so this is understandable. The room was a bit noisy due to the street down below but nothing out of the ordinary given the location of the hotel. Would definitely go back and recommend to friends.
My wife and I needed a weekend get away. So, we decided to make the drive up to Montreal. Choosing to stay at the Place D'Armes was such a great decision. It was a comfortable, reasonably priced hotel, in a fantastic location in Old Montreal. The hotel is right by the Notre Dame Basilica and super close to the Place D'Armes metro stop. The really nice touches were the complimentary cocktails,... more
Staying at the Place D'Armes Hotel was one of the highlights of my trip to Montreal. The location couldn't be better: within easy walking distance of the Place D'Armes metro station, the Notre Dame Basilica, and Vieux Montreal shops, restaurants and attractions. I loved the hotel's on-site spa and tried (and enjoyed) both restaurants. I plan on returning to Montreal for a summer vacation and... more
I was quite happy with the accomodations. The combination of old and new was very chic and the hotel smelled so good! The bartender from France was delightful and gracious. Aix restaurant was superb using local ingredients. Gym was very adequate; spa was nice but make sure to get a room with heat controls if you get a massage. Front desk staff could have been more attentive during checkout.
Very lovely hotel and room. High windows, tastefully furnished, wonderful bathroom. Breakfast buffet however left a lot to be desired and didn't go with the good taste of the hotel!
The location couldn't be beat. The staff were very friendly and courteous. The only problem was that there was an empty used shampoo bottle under the bed and the sink was BADLY cracked - which meant that it harbored germs. So I have to give it a 'thumbs down' on cleanliness.
I travelled to Montreal for a conference, and was pleasantly surprised that this hotel was across the street from the convention center. It is also at the edge of Old Montreal and quite convenient to the Metro and the 747 Express bus from the airport. The hotel itself is lovely, small and charming, but with all of the amenities you would expect in a larger hotel--a spa, fitness center, and... more
Rain shower head, clogged. Only half was working, thus instead of a light spring rain, it was a gutter downpour. The pea-green room and bath tiles may be uptown for some color-blind business men from out of town. Disappointing for the price. The only thing that drown out the street noise was the rattle from the air-conditioner.
The room we stayed was fantastic. Everyone gave us high quality customer service. Sometime their house keeping staff did not respond to our request promptly but they were all nice and polite.
Awesome location, beautiful room, and jets in the tub! The staff is very friendly. Free Wi-Fi. The only con was that when I stayed there was a LOT of construction in the neighborhood. I really can't add too much to the other reviews here - I highly recommend it for a romantic getaway to Montreal!
i fell in love with this hotel during my last visit to montreal. although it is pricey, i think for a special occasion, it is more than worthwhile to book a suite at the hotel place d'armes. the room is spectacular, complete with arched windows, turn down service, a gas fireplace, chocolates on the pillows. but the star of the room is undeniably the bathroom. that tub is to die for. soak in the... more
I had the pleasure of staying at the Hotel Place D'armes in February of 2009 and I have to say that I was quite impressed by the quality of the hotel and service. I typically have high expectations and they were met and surpassed to a point that I took the time to write the management of the hotel a letter commending their work. Arriving at the hotel at 9am, I was able to check-in early and... more
We got a great deal on Priceline for a stay at Hotel Place D'armes and plane tickets. It's a cozy hotel with a great location (right by the beautiful Notre-Dame Basilica) in Old Town and 2 blocks from a metro stop. Staff was professional and friendly and I especially liked:-free continental breakfast (breads, muffins, fresh fruit, cheese, coffee, tea, juices). With a small afternoon snack, this... more
I've traveled to Montreal a number of times over the years and have stayed in several hotels there (Loews, The Ritz-Carlton, Hilton Bonaventure come to mind), but I am now a big fan of staying in Old Montreal every time I visit. There are a number of unique hotels that have been put into old buildings or re-adapted use in the Old Montreal area, which is great (Place d'Armes, W Hotel Montreal,... more
Excellent location. Cool modern rooms in a historic building. Fun rooftop bar. Tasty chocolate croissants during breakfast. Nice wine and cheese happy hour. the 701 bar is a cool space for a drink... but don't stay in rooms above the bar unless you like disco thumping music until 1:30am. And don't stay on the 8th floor by the elevators to the roof top bar.... there will be noisy guests there.
My friend and I selected Place D'Armes for our stay in Montreal based on the hotel's website and photos. No photos can do this place justice, and the best part is the service at the front desk as well in the restaurants. The 2 double bed rooms are huge, wonderful windows and bathrooms. We were here for the Montreal Marathon...so my favorite part was the relaxing rain shower. Front desk is... more
My friend and I needed a weekend getaway, so I booked us two nights at the Place D'armes. Bottom line: I have never had a hotel stay this great in my life. The hotel is beautifully decorated in a modern contemporary style that appreciates the grandeur of the three historic buildings that the hotel occupies. Our bedroom had an exposed brick wall, great furniture, and a huge bathroom. The... more
This hotel is perfect for the traveler who loves old world charm, but in a very contemporary way. They have perfectly blended the upscale style of modern contemporary design but in the backdrop of a 18th century city. The hotel was honestly the highlight of our trip.
This hotel overall was amazing! Here are the problems we encountered:House keeping staff rude, and loud. They would let the doors slam at 6 am.Bar staff during happy hour was unhelpful and stuck up.The rooms are a bit dark. Things I loved:The location, it was amazing. The bathroom with the rain shower and separate jet tub.The lobby area.Concierge--Rene, he was always our go to person for dining... more
Great trendy hotel in Old Montreal. Stayed here for quick weekend trip, originally had wanted to stay at the Loews but it was booked and this was a close second choice and we were not disappointed. Arrived to a friendly staff for the most part, but found the concierge less than helpful. Asked for a recommendation for a place to get some mussels at lunch and he printed out some sheets which I... more
We had a very nice weekend- great location to walk around old city and down to the port. plenty to see and do - we did a great deal of walking - enjoyed our stay at the hotel.
Had a great 5 day stay here. After spending a lot of time at SoHo hotels for work I was a bit baffled by what I got for my money. The suite had a lofted living room, 2 bathrooms, and hardwood floors. Was a great home base during the Mutek Electronic music festival. The staff was very helpful and the bar had some good eats. Location wise, there is a metro 2 blocks away which made getting around... more
My room didn't have floor to ceiling windows. Or a standalone bathtub....But I'm not complaining. Very nice hotel, very nice staff. The valet guy even moved our car for us to an open parking space one night!Speaking of location - this area is VERY hard to park at. You don't need a car but if you have one, be prepared for steep parking lot rates or slim to none street parking. BUT - Notre Dame... more
This place is a total gem. Location is fabulous. We stayed there a week and didn't miss the lack of a rental car at all. It's located on the edge of Old Montreal and the Place d'Armes metro stop is two short blocks away. The rooms are very nice and has some of the biggest bathrooms I've had in a hotel. It also seemed reasonably priced and there's a nice complimentary breakfast and happy-hour... more
Elegant boutique hotel right in the heart of Old Montreal. The rooms are large with big floor-to-ceiling windows, exposed brick walls and functional decor. The location can't be beat found right across Bascillica de Notre Dame and the beautifully... more
The Place D'Armes Hotel is perfectly located in Old Montreal within easy walking distance to most major attractions and many restaurants.
