Perch Lovers Paradise
May 08, 2014I haven't really explored the whole menu. If you love fish, and especially perch, you will not be disappointed. No frills and great taste.

Not my favourite
March 07, 2014We have been coming to this restaurant for years, only because my in-laws like it. I don't know what they do to their food, but it all tastes like it just came out of a can. Not appealing to me at all. Even their hamburgers and milkshakes are crummy.

Great Lake perch the old fashioned way
September 28, 2013This was my first visit back to Port Dover in 35 years. Was a very young boy last time fishing with my dad. It was tough knowing which place was best to get fish and chips. The service was pleasant and efficient and the young lady serving helpful and recommended the fresh perch as her favourite. Very nice serving size... more

September 12, 2013Great place to get some haddock, pickerel or perch! French fries were good too. I had a milkshake - more milk than ice cream, which made it easier to sip. They are a little overwhelmed on Friday the 13th, but every order gets filled. It was hot, and they have every condiment available. Love the old Coca-cola signs everywhere.

July 21, 2013I love Port Dover and almost always there every summer weekend, cycling or sailing on Lake Erie. The town is cute and has its own distinct ambiance. There is nothing particularly outstanding here. food is served with plastic untensils (if you are eating in the inside). Prices are almost that same as the establishment across the street without the view.

Good snack on the beach

First time in the area. Had to have perch. Good value for the price. I'm surprised there is not a recycle bin for all the styrofoam, as everything is served on disposables.
Picnic area in the sand overlooking the beach was kept pretty clean.

Pickerel Snack is The Best
August 21, 2012You don't have to be fancy to be good! For a quick and inexpensive meal, Knechtels is great. For a very reasonable price you get an adequate order of fish and chips, coleslaw, a bun and a salad bar. And they call it a snack!

Great beach fare
June 04, 2012Read the reviews, saw the word, "Pickerel", had to go. Went and got a pickerel burger, loved it so much I had another! Good vanilla shake too! Nice spot to sit and eat right on the beach. I didn't go inside so I can't comment on the restaurant. I'll be back!

Good lunch beside the lake

Reasonably priced and well prepared food. The perch was nicely cooked with crispy batter not over done so that there's more batter than fish. My brother had their bacon cheese burger and he said it was very good.
We got the take out then sat at the picnic tables by the beach. All and all an enjoyable informal lunch beside...

Continually going down hill
