First of all excellent efficient service, and a very nice waitress who we tipped well. Unfortunately one comes here to a high priced restaurant for the food, not the service. The ambiance is frankly non existent. For these prices I at least expect linen on the tables. I notice alot of reviews rave about the service and not so much the food!!
It was a birthday celebration. We shared the Oysters...

The rainbow trout as amazing and generously sized, and the crispy skin salmon was pretty good too though a bit small. The caesar salad was good too. The escargot tower was a bit disappointing. The chips that were in it were way too salty and kind of ruined the dish. The service was friendly and efficient. The atmosphere doesn't really reflect the prices that they ask but you're going here for... more
We were very surprised at the quality of food and the excellent service provided. We had a craving for seafood, but didn't care for the other seafood places in town. We were met at the door by the owner, (Brian) and escorted to our seats. The open concept of the dining and cooking area were appealing. Presentation was magnificent and... more
Went here on a date with my wife. We order some oysters which were good, as well as the monkfish and sea bass for our mains. The sea bass was way over cooked, borderline burnt, with a vegetable side mixture that wasn't that great as well. The monkfish was a little better, but nothing special. Service also was slow for... more
This is a very disappointing restaurant. The food is bland, the room noisy and the prices remarkably high. The other reviews seem to be describing a very different restaurant. At best this is a mediocre restaurant. But, at that the food is seriously overpriced.
Normally going to a restaurant leaves me walking away feeling slightly off. I walk away thinking, I probably could have done better; at King Crab "NOT SO MUCH SO". Actually the only improvement I could suggest would have been to put in a mirrored ceiling so you could better watch the Chef's.
King crab oyster serves "fine-dining" prices, yet the quality of food and ambiance is way under the standards. Although I admire the open-kitchen concept, the dining room is very disorganized with tables of all sizes scattered around. The waitor that served us that evening was friendly, but was not knowledgable about the wine selection. He presented the bread after our oysters appetizer. One... more
Just had a really nice dinner here. Salmon was very good, but I especially enjoyed the crab cake. It is blue crab meat served with tomatillo chow chow. It is pricey but a very generous size. The service was friendly and the ambiance is nice in a casual and comfortable way. My friends enjoyed their meals as well. A very good experience overall.
Going to King Crab has always been a treat and I go here for almost every special occassion. I love the atmosphere as it is very romantic and cozy since the restaurant isn't very big. I actually really don't like seafood which is funny that this is my favourite restaurant, but I go here for their caesar salad and filet... more
I took my mother to King Crab on a blustery winter evening. Fortunately I had called ahead for a table. They were very busy. The place is very small and I do find the tables for two a little too small and close to other tables but I understand why they have to do this. I ordered the feature soup... more
I think I just had the best service experience ever! All of the staff members were incredibly friendly at every interaction, from the moment i walked-in and the greeter spoke to me, to the second before walking out, when several of the staff thanked me for coming, and wished me a good night....I even had another table's waitress topping-up my water, that is beyond my expectations! And MY... more
Last night we enjoyed ourselves at King Crab & Oyster Bar. The open kitchen provides a wonderful aroma when you walk in the door. The owner showed us our seating and chatted with us. Our server, Phillip was knowledgeable and took extra care taking our order. Presentation of our meal was very good.

I go once a week to this restaurant. Privately owned and well managed. The food is hand picked from the chef. One day I heard him say " the chefs special is lamb I picked It up from the market this morning. " The food is outstanding. Everything is made from scratch and yummy. They will accommodate any food preferences.... more
We were disappointed the moment we walked in the door. My husband said it still looked like the Long John Silver's Restaurant he worked in 30 years ago! Yikes! The meals we received weren't the entrees we ordered - some of the items had been substituted without our knowledge because they had run out of it. I expected Black Thai... more
The service at this restaurant is excellent. The host and servers are very friendly and knowledgable. I love the open kitchen concept and the aromas that fill the resaturant are heavenly. The food is consistently delicious and the presentation is lovely. It's the best seafood in KW and very reasonably priced. Well worth the visit!
King Crab is one of our regular restaurants. We are there every couple of months and the food has never disappointed. The crab cakes are our regular appetizer, and my wife always reads and considers the entire menu before finally deciding on the salmon. I've tried most things on the menu, and the only one that disappointed was the seafood... more
This was overall a wonderfull dining experience! I ordered bouillabaisse as a main, and my wife ordered steak and lobster as a main. The starters were delivered promtly, the mains were put on the table shortly after the starters, and all of the food was delicious and looked great. Our first choice of wine was temporarily out of stock, but... more
My wife and I had a great pre-Christmas dinner here, and it was wonderful! Our reservations were made on-line quickly and without hassle on OpenTable, and when we had to change it, it was a few taps on the iPhone OpenTable application, and everything was all re-arranged.
The restaurant is cozy and inviting. The host confirmed our reservation and we got a great window seat. The restaurant is...

This was, without a doubt, a top 5 all around dinner for us. I ordered the blackened marlin with bacon beet greens and cornbread. Everything was amazing. I'm not even a huge cornbread fan and I could eat an entire pan of this stuff.
My girlfriend ordered the seafood sausage with sauerkraut and hazelnut mashed potatoes. I took a bite...

They have a strange business model where the manager argued with me over what quality of drinks people like. Even if he disagreed, he should know when to cut his losses. The wait staff struggled to understand modifications to an order. My wife was quite unhappy with how her lobster was served.
The experience at this restaurant was 5 star all the way from the moment we arrived at the front door. The wait staff was friendly and very helpful, given some hints on the best way to enjoy mussels and how to crack that lobster shell efficiently. The food quality and quantity was excellent. A return visit is a must.
My girlfriends and I had to visit Kitchener for the evening. I put in my GPS for restaurants around our destination and King Crab came up. We had an amazing dinner. We were greeted by a very friendly women who said we had to wait 15 minutes for a table so we sat at the bar and spoke to the... more
Actually frequented this restaurant fairly regularly for a while in 2009/2010. Standards seem to be slipping though. The last time I went, they actually said to me at the door that they didn't want to let me in as they were too busy. Half of the tables were empty, and they were trying to turn away customers at lunch hour....?... more
We gave this place a second chance - it was even worse than the first time we went and we chalked that up to the fact that it had just opened. Sadly, nothing had improved with time. The only thing we enjoyed were the fresh oysters; they were wonderful but I had to ask for tabasco sauce. My partner ordered... more
My husband and I had a lovely dinner here last week. We ordered oysters for appetizer, paella and a fish plate for main - they were so good. Service and atmoshere is good. The price is a bit pricey but you'll certainly get what you paid for. We had a discount coupon from treasures book so we saved $25 -... more
It used to be a Long John Silver Fast Food restaurant. Ambiance has not changed a lot but food and service have. Service was very good and attentive. We had to ask for nothing as everything we needed was provided without request including refills of Ice tea. The bread was fresh out of the oven and very warm and served... more
I took my wife for our 3 yr wedding anniversary. The staff were great and made awesome recommendations. The food was fantastic. Earlier we were in Vegas at a famous seafood restaurant and I would have to say that King Crab was on par with taste and quality. I recommend the mussels of the day.

the food was good the prices were in the heavens.. 2 fish dinners, 1 drink for 100.00 holy price gouge
Loved it. Food and service were excellent. Price is not as high as one might expect for such great service and food.
Restaurant resembles a high end fish and chips shop both inside and out. Not the most sophisticated decor but very clean. The service was excellent. We had attentive wait staff and the food arrived in a reasonable time. We ordered Oysters Rockefeller for appetizer which was tasty but the oyster itself was not very discernible underneath all the topping and... more

had the half lobster and steak wifey poo had battered fish. appetiser was not fully cooked-coconut shrimp- forgot to put dressing on caesar salad-steak overcooked-lobster was at best a third not a half-battered fish was soggy - bottom line this place was bad. waitress was nice and tried to make things better but service was slow and bassicaly i found... more
The restaurant as an attractive atmosphere, an open, sparkling clean kitchen, warm friendly staff, and excellent food. We all enjoyed our seafood dishes (often overcooked in central Canada) which were perfectly prepared. The jumbalaya and keylime pie were my picks and were perfect. Well done, King Crab. We will return.
I can't say enough, food and staff are always great ! I love the Salmon , did find last visit that the Scallops were very over priceed for two small scallops, mind you they tasted great but two for $16 OUCH !
Great food and great service! We will definately go back!
My husband and I went here for our wedding anniversary and really enjoyed ourselves. We enjoyed seafood chowder, coconut shrimp, Herb crusted rainbow trout, Jambalaya, phylo cheesecake and Keylime Pie. Unfortunately we did not try any of the Oysters at this visit (I am pregnant and not eating any raw foods at this time - another visit for sure!)

Made a reservation for my partner's birthday. Read the reviews online and had a coupon (order one entree and get $20 off the second entree... this also included drinks). If you like seafood, you must try eating at the KCOB&G. While I can certainly recommend much better restaurants in The Region, and regardless of what else I say in my review, we do recommend you try the KCOB&G. I've always enjoyed any seafood I've eaten here. It is definitely a nicer experience than the 'cafeteria' rush-rush experience I feel... more
Luckily I had a coupon for this place and didn't end up paying for the atrocious meal I was forced to endure. This place should be on Kitchen Nightmares with
Gordon Ramsey. The fact that it is ranked #12 in Kitchener is a joke. Frozen bland crabcakes, frozen fish, bland, bland, bland....I seriously cannot believe the reviews other people had...

This is a great little restaurant. The food is superb. the place is busy, and it is recommended to make reservations.
Definately worth a try if you liek seafood.
I truly loved the open concept. The food was great and the service too. It was a little loud but the place is small and it was full.
Good food, though my Mahi Mahi was undercooked. Lighting is nice and low but the furniture is kind of cheap. King Crab Alfredo was very tasty and generous.
I can't say i would return to this restaurant. Me and my date were thoroughly disappointed.
