Not worth writing a review. This place is terrible. Just don't go to this place. If I could give it no stars, I would. But i must if I am to warn others!!
This place is c@!p. Hot food comes cold and petrified as if its been sitting under a hest lamp for a hour. sushi isnt good, just doesnt taste fresh. And service is as good as their food.
I am having a more pleasurable time writing this review than eating the unappetizing food in front of me. The hot food is all cold. Not warm, just cold. My unagi don was a bowl full of rice and a bite sized piece of sushi. The lemon chicken was more batter than chicken w nothing resembling a lemon in sight. The short rib was decent... more
What a mistake to come here!!!! the buffet was simply DISGUSTING....sushi falls apart by itself, the tonkatsu was a sliver, the miso soup did not come and we had to flag down the server to get it addressed, we got the wrong salad, and so on and so on.....NOT recommended.
AYCE sucks!! They served our first order so fast that we were impressed, but the second order took awhile. Business gimmick to make the customers wait and feel full. Our third order was no where to be seen till we asked and when the order came, we were so full that it would have been better if the food didn't come. The worst was the waitress took the order sheet after our third order so we had... more
I've always walked past this place and saw the menu for AYCE but never tried it. Finally decided to try it out for late night.
Food:
- Everything under the deep fried category were almost microwave-like. Definitely not fresh.
- Everything you expect hot would be warm, at best.
- Soy sauce was not sushi soy sauce, tasted much saltier like cooking soy sauce.
- Wasabi tastes funny.
- Portions...

Having experienced my fair share of All You Can Eat Japanese at various establishments, I feel confident to credit this restaurant to be one of the better venues within the Lower Mainland. The food that is served (during late night AYCE anyway) appear fresher than most when compared to other like-restaurants. Prices are reasonable, service is good, and the ambience is friendly; nothing to... more
After handing in my prescription and setting a transaction with lens crafters for my glasses, my sister, my boyfriend and I decided to go to Kawawa for some sushi. We decided on all you can eat (AYCE) which was about $13.50 each for lunch time.
PROS:
$13.50 for all you can eat
food was good
the servers were polite
CONS:
forgot our miso soup as well as other foods we had wanted to order
didn't...

Worst sushi restaurant ever. We thought it'd be good to go for all you can eat sushi on a weekday since it's usually cheaper ($12.95/adult), but what a mistake. The food tasted terrible, and there weren't even any sashimi choices. There were only 3 types of nigiri sushi available. I'd rather visit smaller sushi joints in the neighbourhood.
I've been to four AYCE sushi joints in my entire life. I just don't like the idea of stuffing yourself until you want to barf. I decided to take my siblings there since we were in the mall and were really hungry after arcading (it is a real word).
So pretty much it goes like this - you sit down, write how many pieces of what you want from their pretty extensive menu and give it to the server....

I agree with a bunch of the other reviewers. One of the main attractions to this place would be for the convenience. It's other half is a ramen shop, and that literally all there is in Metropolis for food.
A friend and I had all you can eat, it was literally the first time I had ever seen portions SO small. I guess that is smart of them to do that to reduce the amount of food waste, but the...

Worst restaurant I've ever visited. We ordered standard dishes like house salad and they tasted absolutely horrible. It is also over priced compared to other Japanese restaurants. This restaurant should not be in business. We will definitely not be coming back.
This place is definitely not that good. I just came here last week because I was craving sushi. I ordered a basic sushi combo that had a nigiri combo which comprised of tuna & Salmon, egg, and a few others. And I ordered a Prawns Tempera on the side to share with my buddies. But in the end it costed me $23 after adding the $2.50 for soda + tips + Tax.
The Good:
- Service was friendly
- Food...

First time here but I've always passed it... found out it's a branch from aji taro that I go to in Richmond. But the BIG difference is the servers here were so nice to us... they accommodated us and all of our craziness and consistent orders of small stuff like napkins and forks and spoons etc.. They always had a smile on their face and even took a picture for us when we asked.
There is not one redeeming quality about Kawawa. It is easily hands down one of the worst restaurants I have ever been to! The service was terrible (it took me 45 minutes and me asking three different waiters just to order) and the food was cold and very unfresh. I ordered a tempura udon and a dynamite roll. Literally one hour later, I got my food and my tempura was missing from my udon and my... more
Worst sushi all u can eat restaurant!!! Slow services and terrible food!! I will never go back to this place again!
I do not understand why this place still has business. Is it because its in the mall and convienent ? Come on.. Just walk across the street and there you have at least 3 sushi place that's thousand times better than this place.
Their lunch service for all you can eat is terrible. Long waits between food drop offs and the hot food was no longer hot by the time it got to our time. Won't be coming back here for all you can eat.
Let's not kid ourselves and admit that most Japanese restaurants in Vancouver are owned by the Chinese. That said, the food served at Kawawa is EXACTLY what you'd expect Chinese-cooked Japanese food to taste like: over-seasoned with MSG, cheap in quality, and tasting more like Chinese food than Japanese.
I had ordered their katsu-don (fried pork chop rice bowl). After my first bite, I paused...

This place was terrible. Bad service, wrong orders. AYCE had a limited menu, not many veggie options for sushi rolls. Beef tataki was frozen. Tofu was tasteless, and the gyoza was dry and had no sauce. Wish I could give zero stars. Save your money and go to ANYWHERE else.
Last night, wanted t try their all you can eat late night dinner, staring at 8:30pm.
Food was terrible, worse all u can eat I ever had. No sashimi!!!
The seafood udon was a joke. The udon looks like Shxx. There is one small shrimp floating in the soup, I wanted to vomit, I had no interested in trying the dish while looking at it.
I personally think if they do such a lousy job then don't do it....

the only good thing about Kawawa is its convenience...seeing how its inside metro mall, makin it an easy place to grab a bite on those shopping trips when u really don't feel like venturing outside the vicinity of the mall for a meal. if i wasn't that lazy, i'd honestly rather just go across the street to Sushi Garden for better sushi.
Horrible. My sushi was sitting on the counter for ten minutes before it came. I ordered a Philly roll and it came with asparagus! Where is the avacado! Such cheap place and tastes so gross DO NOT EAT HERE
In general, this restaurant is mediocre.I wouldn't really recommend this restaurant unless you are super hungry and... more
I wish there was a way to give zero stars to this place. Not only is the food lousy and over priced, the service is the worst. The cooked food was burnt, the raw food was warm and to get any server's attention feels like you're inconveniencing them. There is a far superior sushi place across the street- Sushi Garden. And if you dont want to leave the mall- the sushi in the food court is leagues... more

Saw this Japanese Restaurant shopping and decided to go in and give it a try. I like the layout, there were comfy booths and a couple of big screen tvs around to watch sports. The service was nice, polite, and friendly. The menu? You can either have all you can eat or a la carte. I was starving so I did all you can eat dinner for $22.00 (seniors and kids get a discount). I ordered a ton of... more

One of the worst Japanese restaurants I have ever been to. Would not recommend this place to anyone; everything was microwaved and tasted like it had been sitting all afternoon. I'd rate this place a ZERO! Save your money for somewhere worth your time.
I come from Alberta and as far as Japanese all you can eat goes, this is THE worse. I would gladly pay the premium ($25 on average with taxes) in Alberta to have their not-so-awesome all you can eat. If you happen to like this restaurant, I suspect that you are Caucasian and believes that California rolls are real Japanese food.To be fair, I had their late night meal which was $13.95 or... more
I don't know what I really expected from an AYCE in a Mall, but more than this! My Mom and I stopped in for a later lunch. Right off the bat, there were things wrong. We both ordered the Ebi Sunomono. I really thought that one was hard to mess up, but I guess I was wrong! The Noodles were all lumped together, and not really soft. There was some sort of...I guess it was flour or something(?), on... more
Kawawa Japanese Restaurant, what a bad service! It doesn't matter what we'd ordered they'd bring what they want to. Is this what a "All you can eat" means ?! NO TIP 4 U ... We'll never eat here again!
One of the worst places I've ever eaten. Absolutely disgusting food.
I've tried their sushi combo and AYCE. Sushi rolls are not that good, the rice does not have any vinegar flavour and the I don't find the sashimi is particularly fresh.
Kawawa is the new Japanese restaurant opened in place of the old one, and it tastes as bad as the last one. When you first arrive, the restaurant looks quite nice, but the food was just awful. Not even close to authentic...the only good thing about this restaurant is the location.
Kawawa Japanese Restaurant offers these services: japanese restaurant, sushi.
