Karma's Cafe has a great atmosphere, and great food. They have these little rice patty appatizers with a red dipping sauce that I have never found an equivalent to anywhere else. Not super cheap, but great value for money as the taste is divine.
I went here for the first time last month. I found there were many different dishes on the menu that appealed to me. The food was excellent but somewhat expensive compared to other Thai restaurants in the area. Overall, service was alright and the restaurant itself was ok. I would recommend for the food itself, but be prepared for the... more
We went last week and I had the special and it was fantastic. We also had the spring roles and a person at our table said we should share...I don't think so, get your own order, so we had four orders and they were fantastic.
Go there for Thai.... in Ptbo
Cheers
This is one of my favourite restaurants in Peterborough. Be sure to make a reservation on the weekends because it is not very big and it fills up quickly. The spring rolls are excellent. The pad thai is amazing - I especially enjoy it with chicken. I have had the pad thai about 6 times, always intending to choose something... more
I've eaten here several times over the past year for both lunch and dinner, and I've always enjoyed the food. Spring rolls, the pad thai, and the mixed platter are all fresh, tasty and flavourful. The patio is pleasant in nice weather. It's not inexpensive but I don't quibble at the price because I enjoy the food. The service, however,... more
Our three trips to Karma's have regularly been great. Fresh ingridients, just the right amount of spices and the ability to accomodate vegans, vegetarians et al. The best Himalayan/Thai food in this area. My favorites are the Pad Thai and Noodles with lime leaves. Cold spring rolls are excellent. Will be coming back for sure.
We have been coming here since it first opened before it had its makeover. Food is always made fresh and tasty. Favourite is the Noodles with Lime Leaves, just the right amount of spice. Favourite apps are the Momo's, the salad rolls and spring rolls. Bar service can be a little slow and they don't have dessert but we are... more
I was really looking forward to my meal at Karma's. I haven't been in maybe 2 years. I ordered the butter chicken - all I could taste was salt. No flavour. So unbelievably disappointing. The salad had no flavour either. My partner's dish didn't have the ingredients it was supposed the have. The service staff were overworked for the busy... more
I never knew this restaurant was on Hunter, a friend said they had awesome Thai food. My experience was great, we were seated right away the server we had was awesome. The atmosphere is warm and cozy, i guess you could say romantic if you were there with you significant other. I was there with a friend.... I would just... more
I saw the episode of Restaurant makeover years ago and had always planned on going to Karma's. Finally went on Valentines day. The food was so good. Price and portion excellent. Service and atmosphere was good too, I guess. I was enjoying my dinner too much to pay attention to much else. I recently moved to the Peterborough area, and... more
This is a wonderful little place tucked away in a street with lots of restaurants to choose from. There is local art on the walls to enjoy (and we actually bought one of the pieces). The owner is welcoming and friendly.
Come early because they fill up quickly. They have wonderful tables by the window so make sure that you...

Karma is a very nice restaurant, although the waiter we had was not good at all. He hardly spoke and never came to see if we wanted separate cheques or even to see how our food was. Although the food is really good and is presented very nicely and good portion sizes! the only downfall is there is very little... more
I was dropping off my daughter at Trent and decided to try some local fare. We stumbled across Karma's Cafe and we were glad we did. The food was fantastic, The service and atmosphere were fun and non pretentious.
The food is a mix between Thai and Indian but leaning more to the Thai side. I give kudos to Karma...

For a taste of something different, in a small town, Karmas Cafe was a breath of fresh air.
The food was simple, well flavoured and incredibly fresh.
The owner is bubbly and kind and full of tales from Tibet. Loved the place
A little disappointed with the food and the price. Portions are large (piled high) and food is fresh and looks interesting on the plate but, doesn't live up expectations. Expensive for what it is.
When Chef Lynn Crawford has nothing bad about your food and doesn't suggest you change anything....your name is Karma! Tibetan Momos are amazing dumplings. I've tried almost everything and never been disappointed....actually I'm always blown away. My sister is vegan and they can accommodate. Very reasonable pricing. The price range listed on here is far too high. Most dishes are... more
Karma makes some of the best Thai food I've ever eaten. Each time I go, I know I can expect amazing food at a great price.
The atmosphere is warm and inviting - perfect for an intimate dinner with your significant other or close friends and family.
Karma's Cafe is always a wonderful dining experience, and I look forward to...

When friends suggested that we celebrate our wedding anniversaries at Karma's, I was hesitant because of some recent reviews. However, we tried it anyway. The service was pleasant and helpful. The food was good and well presented.
We would go again.
I have been a semi-regular over the years, and my last visit was the worst ever. The service was very inattentive, even by the owner.
We were greeted with indifference, and treated the same throughout the meal.
I will say that the appetizers were excellent, but the signature Pad Thai was the worst ever...lacking the taste, presentation and passion that...

we had a nice variety of foods to choose from - nice atmosphere - quiet evening turned into a packed event - would have prefered a more even tone to the place
As a regular patron of Karma's, my friends and I have never been disappointed in a meal here. The dishes are always very fresh tasting, the vegetables perfectly prepared and presented, and obviously the best of the season. Unlike other local Thai restaurants where the noodle dishes are evidently an opportunity to skimp on all ingredients except the noodles, Karma's... more
Enjoy the diverse menu at Karma's and the food and service are great. Have eaten there many times. Recommend Karma's to hungry friends!
I really loved this restaurant in the past, but the past is the past and on our last visit the food taste was off, really off. We were very disapointed with the service, (liked they just didn't care we were there), the food, I had the same dish at least 4 times at this place and wow was it awful,... more
Nice quiet atmosphere, very tasty, hot food. Always fresh and unique, the sampler platter is a good way to start. Karma's also has the best spring rolls anywhere.
No desserts and more beer selection would put them over the top.
Karma's is divine. The decor is fusion fashionable and the food is luscious, nicely spiced and seasoned impeccably. The service is wonderful and the pace is layed back, but never slow. The house wines are great. The pinot grigio complements the menu well. I wish I'd ordered a carafe but my silly husband wasn't drinking.
The menu is intriguingly fusion...

You will need to make a reservation for this restaurant - they are very busy. Excellent food and great service. HIghly recommended!
Delicious and amazingly flavourful. Great smells and laid back vibe.
Good food, fast & friendly service make this an enjoyable dining experience.
We made a reservation for 4 for my 28th birthday. I could not regret it more. As someone who previously worked in the restaurant industry I tend to be very sympathetic in these situations, but this dinner experience was so bad that my sympathy just won't extend that far....
The restaurant was steady - not packed - when we arrived....

The food is real Thai, beautifully prepared by the southeast Asian chef who owns the restaurant. Hard to find Thai food that can beat this anywhere, including Toronto.
When I decide to spend the money for dinner I expect that I am buying a certain type of experience. I want to enjoy my appetizers with a couple of nice drinks and then have my entree with a nice glass of wine. While I visit with whoever I am having dinner with.
I did not get what I paid...

Great! I always order the Chicken Satay and it is to die for. Best peanut sauce ever. My boyfriend always changs his order each time and loves it as well. Karma is always there and very friendly, checking up on how everyone is. Definitely recommended!
Really enjoy our visits to Karma's. Food great, prices good and service excellent
We have eaten there a few times. The service is spotty however the food is always good. The only complaint I have had is the beer, it is usually old and flat for the draft beer, but just send it back and order a different one, no problem.
The menu is nice and easy to read and is self explanatory....

I enjoy my thai food and there is a place here at home that I appreciate more and more when I try thai in other places.
Yes there is the hype about this place being on restaraunt makeover (all the locals told us this about 100 times) But I try to let the food speak for itself.
First I will...

A small cute place with ambience. I loved my meal and the cocktails to boot! You need to try the Pomagrante one. Awesome!
The four of us enjoyed the bustling street side patio after our evening golf game. We were greeted with a friendly smile and menus. Our drink orders were promptly filled. We both ordered the Karma's platter consisting of a delicious array of appetizers including: hot spring roll, cold garden spring roll, chicken satay skewers and more accompanied by homemade dipping... more
Good service and very enjoyable food. Pleasant atmosphere and a delightful waitress.
There were 4 of us for dinner on a Sunday night - started with a sampler platter for $20 that looked like it might be worth $10 tops. A couple of chicken curries, a chicken satay, and a bowl of noodle soup, all just average tasting. The bill was over $100, which is ridiculous for what we had, no drinks... more
I was extremely impressed with the food. The dipping sauces for the spring rolls were good, but the spring rolls were so flavourful on their own they didn't even need it. This food was the best I have eaten at a restaurant in a long time. Well done.
Lovely cozy little restaurant. There's not too much space, so I usually don't go during peak times.
The first time I went I thought the food would be okay, but my expectations were massively exceded!!! Karma's has the most amazing, flavourful food - definitely try the spring rolls because they are absolutely fantastic!
Had lunch there in November 2009, with a party of 4. We all greatly enjoyed our meals. My wife and I had vegetable spring rolls (excellent!) and vegetarian curry (even better!). Locally brewed beer on tap. Highly recommended.
This restaurant lacks atmosphere, cleanliness and good service. We had to ask the waitress to wipe down the seats (they were so dirty) and she gave us a dirty look. You know it can't be good when the owner/chef is not in the kitchen on a Friday night! He came in later and told us he took the night off!... more
We had always wanted to check out this restaurant after seeing Restaurant Makeover and how impressed the RM chef Lynn was with Karma's cooking.
