This is the best place in town IMO for that morning-after breakfast. Great service too.
Good waffles! Good Caesar Salads and Rice n’ Cheese Balls.Every time I go here the food is great, but it can get a little squishy… being seated right next to a pair of hungry strangers isn’t always fun.So, not the best place for a “romantic” date…
by Crispin (from Victoria, BC) December 2008 - I didn't particularly like the atmosphere (especially the music), the service or the food here. My hashbrowns were dead awful -- big, bland and dry -- and I pretty much wanted to leave the moment I sat down. I'm not sure why this place is so popular???
by Tiemen (from Victoria, BC) June 2008 - Some friends of mine were in town for the weekend, and were hungry for breakfast. Seeing as how my wife is NOT a breakfast person, I thought this was the perfect opportunity to check out John’s Place and their cream cheese syrup that I’d heard so much about. The line was long, as it is with most popular breakfast joints in Victoria on the weekend, but... more

if you don't mind the lineup, go for the breakfast anyday.
One of my personal favorities! Love the bottomless bowl of soup at lunch. Great Fish and Chips. Never been disappointed.
A breakfast tradition when we visit Victoria! Always charming, always delicious, never disappointing.
Back in 1984 John would have never thought that his little eatery would go on to become one of the most popular dining spots in the whole of Victoria. Every morning, when it opens its doors, the interiors come alive with the sound of laughter, orders being yelled back and forth and people that never cease to crowd in. Belgian Waffles, Traditional pancakes and exotic French toasts for breakfast... more

For years John's has occupied this 1903 building on Pandora, a regular breakfast stop for many Victorians. Posters of celebrities from the 1940s, 50s and 60s cover the paneled walls, so there's plenty to look at while you're waiting for your food. And it is well worth any wait. John's uses only top quality ingredients like real butter (no margarine!), seasonal fruit (no canned fruit cocktail!)... more
