December 19, 2008Good waffles! Good Caesar Salads and Rice n’ Cheese Balls.Every time I go here the food is great, but it can get a little squishy… being seated right next to a pair of hungry strangers isn’t always fun.So, not the best place for a “romantic” date…

My hashbrowns were dead awful -- big, bland and dry -- and I pretty much wanted to leave the moment I sat down. I'm not sure why this place is so popular???

For years John's has occupied this 1903 building on Pandora, a regular breakfast stop for many Victorians. Posters of celebrities from the 1940s, 50s and 60s cover the paneled walls, so there's plenty to look at while you're waiting for your food. And it is well worth any wait. John's uses only top quality ingredients like real butter (no margarine!), seasonal fruit (no canned fruit cocktail!)... more
