I dunno if we are just unlucky or what, but we never ever have had good service here. The food is really good as is the menu. If they could improve the service, this place could be perfect. Very nice ambience.
What a great location and concept. A nice little Italian place on 17th with the right ambience. Too bad the service is no good. The food is good. The wine is good, Those servers have got to go!
Fabulous overall experience. Attentive service and great food. I had the lasagna, One of the best tomatoe sauce I've ever tasted. My boyfriend had the sausage risotto, also great flavor. Will go again!
We went for our anniversary, and the service was excellent, the host chatted with me while my boyfriend parked the car and was very helpful as we had a gift card.Food was excellent, very filling, and very quick! I was expecting the food to take a lot longer than it did. You pay a bit more for each main dish but you get WAY more than at any other place. Very Italian-sized dishes!Good selection,... more
Great service, standard Italian faire that was delicious. A little over priced.
Went in for later afternoon lunch with a few friends and we seem to be ignored even after repeatly asking the server. We noticed that they were helping out and serving some people which they appear to already have known and chatting away. After 20min we got our menus i was very very upset buy we were all pretty hungry. Overall the service sucks and nobody seem to care the food was average but... more
I will never eat there again sub par food and rude servers!
So, I used to work here and that is how I found out about the food. The Linguine Vongole (clam linguine) is SUPERB!!! So is the bruschetta and the Minestrone soup.I have not been here in ages because it IS somewhat pricey but the portions are generous. I don't like the fact that the restaurant plays the same CD's over and over while you are eating and the music is very loud.I also do not like... more
Prices are steep but food is really good. Special on so received mixed green salad and bruschetta with an entree. Expecting a iceberg bagged salad but was pleasantly surprised with a great salad and tasty bruschetta. Salmon with risotto was delightful
the chicken was dry, the sauce tasted like they were going for some sorta butter chicken style that missed the mark, the bruschetta was missing something, service was nice, wine was a bit overpriced, overall won't go back when there are so many better italian places with better prices and food
Just came from there, where I ate on the patio. I was forgotten for nearly 30 minutes, and although I would have liked a glass of wine halfway through my (rather bland) meal, no one came to check on me. The one glass of house red that I did get, was $9.00 (steep for a house) - I was never given a wine menu - and they charged me an additional $1.95 for the lemon wedge I asked for. When I... more
We found this place quite cheesy (decor-wise) and disappointing - they have all the standard Italian dishes, but nothing was spectacular. We shared the bruschetta (clearly store-bought sliced garlic bread; unripe tomatoes; nothing special), I had the risotto (WAY too much food and the rice was overcooked), and my husband had the osso buco (fatty and tough). All-in-all, not a pleasant... more
My husband and I enjoyed our dinner at this restaurant - it won't the most exquisitely prepared Italian you'll ever have, but it's still good and the service was decent too. We had the calamari - which wasn't overdone (nice); he then had the mixed grill (quite tasty) and I can't remember what I had 'cause it was many months ago, but I remember walking away feeling happy and sated. The décor is... more
Hey food lovers, Yes, the food is generally good at Il Giardino, but as one recent review notes, they are cheap out artists. As for service, it is rarely that great. At one point it seemed as though some of the servers were egotists. I would not say stay away and I might occasionally attend with others for a meal, but I work in the building and I have not eaten there for some time. Perhaps if... more
A - List. Recommended. Some of the best from scratch food you will ever taste in town. Excellent service. Nice ambiance. This one is a winner. Use the Entertainment book, $ave and enjoy every bite.
I was there last night with three of my girlfriends. I would've never thought of dining there, but one of my friends was a long-time diner there and recommended this place for great Italian food, and plus I had the Entertainment coupon (2 for 1 dinner entree) so I said why not?Prices were definitely on the steep side, but that's not why I am writing this review. Mind you, the food was great.... more
Best authentic Italian dining experience in Calgary bar none.
Il Giardino Ristorante offers these services: restaurant, caterer.
Cozy and inviting, this restaurant is warmed by a fireplace and made homey by the scent of garlic and herbs. Patrons come to bask in the ambience and partake of the authentic cuisine. Practically anything you order is guaranteed to be fabulous, whether it's al dente pasta topped with a rich, flavorful sauce or seafood that's lightly cooked to an ideal tenderness. You'll also enjoy rack of lamb,... more
