The staff is amazing! The room needed some slight touch ups but overall very good. Very accommodating & friendly. Got stranded because of a snow storm that closed the town, but was happy to have a nice place to stay. Probably would stay againif the need arose!
Our stay was great. Only thing we weren't really pleased with was that the room was rather small. We didn't complain, but next time, we will likely ask for a room with two beds, instead of one bed. There wasn't a lot of room to get around one side of the bed (next to the wall). Other than that, everything... more
For an older motel that was centrally located, we were very satisfied with our stay. The reviews were right on, with great beds, very clean and quiet rooms. They even had good pillows, something that is usually hard to find when you are bargain travellers. Handy to everything, the continental breakfast was adequate, and although the towels were basic, they... more
We were very happy with this room. Had everything we needed except lotion and conditioner but we probably could have called to get some. Nice sized bathtub. Hot tub was great but pool was a little to chilly to swim. Would stay again.
This hotel has certainly seen better days. The staff at check in was pleasant and efficient. Walking into the room was a trip into the past. Carving my initials into the bureau would have gone unnoticed. Everything in the room was dated. The bed however was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was included in the rate and was passable.

I really did not like that I stayed in a building that was separate from the main building.. I had to walk outside to get to a vending machine and for breakfast and the weather was -30 degrees celsius. The building was old and dingy and the room was below average.
comfortable beds and room was clean. no problems in check in or check out. Overall well satisfied. even if we were close to the pool, ice and vending machine there was no noise.
All the amenity's you need while surrounded by restaurants and retail. hot tub, pool, sauna, elliptical, bar, restaurant. Hookers will knock on your door at 6:30 am if you drive a truck. but it's okay, they're really nice.
This hotel is in a good location...close to shopping and restaurants. The room was clean and comfortable. We were upgraded upon arrival. The indoor pool was very nice. The complimentary continental breakfast was adequate. Good value for $,
The room was clean but there was a strange smell in the room and the hallway.
Disappointing, at best, but actually horrifying. My children and I slept on the comforter all night I booked a non-smoking room on the second floor and was given a smoke scented room on the ground level. The sheets were stained on one bed and the other had a clump of black hair under the covers. The hallway light was very bright and the room had no room-darkening curtains. Throughout the night... more
Very bad. Place is filthy dirty. Howard Johnson should remove their name from this hotel. I will never stay at a Howard Johnson hotel again.
good and small indoor pool, good breakfast.pleasant staff.
Stayed at this hotel recently with my family, and we were very happy with all the amenities provided, especially considering the price. The bed was comfortable, we all got a good night of sleep and most importantly, the room was very clean. The kids used the pool and loved it and breakfast was pleasant as well. Location wise the hotel... more
Me and friend of mine stay at the hojos in freddy last night and I got to say it's better than reviews make it out to be. I didn't expect much and got a nicer room in-return. Soft comfy beds with tons of pillows, flat screen, cheap snacks in vending machines, quiet room, and cheap too!
I've stayed at this hotel a few times and given it's lower price, I don't expect perfection but I still think nothing was wrong. I think it's a great central uptown location and with breakfast, workout area and pool this hotel is great. Only complaint maybe older treadmill and breakfast hard boiled eggs were still in shell and had gray... more
All was very good except the heater/ac was very noisy.
We recently spent two nights in Fredericton on business and needed an inexpensive accommodation near the highway. The Howard Johnson Plaza Hotel fit the bill in both categories. The Hotel is easily reached from the highway and is within walking distance of several restaurants but not in walking distance to downtown. The staff was friendly and the somewhat dated room... more
I have stayed at this motel several times this year and the staff have always been friendly and very helpful. My room is always clean and comfortable. I would love to have one of the mattresses at home, they are so comfortable. There is a continental breakfast provided and there is also a bar open in evening, also a number... more
We have stayed here often on our many geocaching trips to Fredericton. The price is right, the staff is friendly, there is a pool and it is conveniently located. This is not a fancy hotel but it is clean. Breakfast is continental with toast and bagels, and eggs, and fruit and donuts, and juice and coffee and yogurt. The lady... more
We were upgraded to a king size room as our room wasn't ready when we arrived. The room was clean. I expected this hotel to be better then I encountered, There were water stains on the box spring and lampshade, the curtains has cheap plastic baubles on them, the curtain rod was galvanized electrical conduit, the cables from the TV were wrapped with electrical tape the only half covered the cables, there was no anti-skid mat in the tub and... more
Staff were very helpful and the suite was more than we expected. Clean, spacious and well equipped. We will be back!
Every time we go to Fredericton, we stay there, very good location, they have a nice in door pool and sauna room , clean room and comfortable bed...also good price... I missing the sauna room now, look forward stay there again.
the rooms are average.we stayed 4 nights.did not take service.staff were friendly.the beds were comfortable.room was clean, except for the stove.looked like the burners werent cleaned in long time.also the drawers were filthy.we kept our clothes in our suitcase.the breakfast was ok.coffee was terrible and was in styrofoam cups.bathroom was clean and clean sheets and towels .the hallways are in... more
We stayed her in 2013 and it wasn't a bad hotel. What a difference a year can make. This time we were put in the rear of the hotel, which looks like it was a modular unit that was attached to the hotel as an afterthought. The walls were very thin and this section of the hotel was noisy. Our... more
the rooms are very old and dated, it's time for a refresh... Internet Connection was sporadic. I felt like i was walking into 1986 all over again. One Exception Lobby was immaculate and up to date and looked real nice.
My husband and I booked the Bridal/Honeymoon Suite just for a night away! We wanted a jacuzzi so thought the price was good for that! We have stayed at other Howard Johnson locations before and had great experiences each time! This hotel is a joke to the brand! We stepped inside the suite, to old damp carpet, and the smell... more
Really a run down hotel in need of a facelift. Internet connection is almost dial up speed, lots of disconnects. To conclude, this is not what I expected for accomodation in central Fredericton. Overall impression is not good, will for sure not stay here again. Take the effort to research somw other hotel.
Absolute ok for a overnight stay. Poor breakfast and everything is a bit sticky. A really cheap Place. Nobody wants to get in the Pool thatswhy you allways could have it. for your own. I will not recommend it. But the bed is okay.

Wasn't worth $120/night incl. tax. Towels were stained and still had hair on them. Carpet was old. NS room smelled like it had always been smoked in. We all left with a cough and my baby had a runny, stuffed up nose. Bedding was good and comfortable.
Stayed a week ago on first floor with a acceptable room, second stay was on different floor, room smelt like smoke, furnishings have seen better days, walls marked up, would give room a 1 star.
Our room was very clean and very comfortable bed. Location wise worthy, everything was handy.
Hotel is little bit old but most part of the hotel is renovated. We liked the pool.they have both Indoor and Outside aswell. Breakfast was not the best but it was very good start for us. We had everything what we needed. No complaints at all.....

Stayed one night as we were in town for the Harvest music festival. Our room was a little less than desirable... Here's why;
1) found an empty M&M wrapper on the floor which lends evidence to how thoroughly the room gets cleaned.
2) curtains were not blackout which is pretty standard in hotel rooms
3) didn't even bother checking out...

Room out-dated and noticeably musty smelling. Reasonably clean and bed was fairly comfortable. Wifi sporadic at best. Free continental breakfast offered but is served in a dirty unused restaurant space that is very unappealing.

For this particular long term stay, I was looking for a hotel that would be suitable for my grand daughters and their parents as well as for myself.I wanted a reasonable price and things for the girls to do as well as nearby restaurants. My single room was quite nice...ground level, king size bed. We stayed one more night on our way back from Halifax to this hotel and delighted to be welcomed again by the friendly front desk staffs. Had a quiet night sleep before heading toward Toronto. Hi I showed up at the hotel for a 3 day stay. They showed me to the smallest, dingiest walk-up room I have ever seen in a Howard Johnson hotel. They kept telling me I should have booked direct but since I used expedia I was out of luck. Finally after paying an extra fee I was given a first floor room which was reasonably comfortable. The staff was inconsiderate in many instances, mainly when it... more
My experience at this hotel was poor the rooms was dated, dusty and the hot tub had ants crawling around. The staff is excellent, very professional and speedy. Though it is centrally located the WiFi did not work at all and I find the parking very poor.
air con units were loud and fed into the corridor outside of the room making it insanely hot....smell of smoking needs to be sorted in non-smoking rooms
Upon confirming my reservation, had a run in with the owner about the bed type (we needed 2 beds) although I kept advising him I did not have the option of confirming bed type with the type of reservation I made. He was unaware of how this website worked and tried to urge me to cancel that reservation (not possible)... more
We stopped here while on a road trip towards Newfoundland. We picked this place because it had some of the cheapest rates, and indeed we got what we paid for. The continental breakfast, however, was the worst we'd had on our trip; stale donuts,... more

Hotel needs to be updated... Old and halls were smelly. Room was smelly.bed sheets were half in the floor. Tub was dirty, Thank god sheets were clean or I would have left despite it being 1 am and I was exhausted.
Always stay in Fredericton or Moncton on the way to/from Nova Scotia. I'm looking for price and pet friendly. That being said, it's aVery outdated hotel. The staff were pleasant and the location was good. The hotel is old and the hallway and room smelled. This place has friendly staff but it is neither comfortable nor clean; at least it doesn't look clean. The corridors smell like damp basement and the towels didn't smell nice. Never again. Towels threadbare, air was really stale, no movies to rent. Continental breakfast was terrible.
Been staying here for years, since it was the Wandle Inn. Cheap room for a one night stay is the only good thing about it. Booked a pet friendly room, did not get it. The room was clean but the overall condition of the hotel is old and tired, desperately in need of a make-over. The beaded curtains, the old bed linens and the carpets need an update. 2.5 Stars.
It felt & smelled like an ollld banquet hall. A mixture of smoke, beer, alcohol, musty carpets,....
The room's renovations include, bathtub, wallpaper & badly installed, cheaper tiles.
Old carpets, curtains, weak wi-fi connection, old stained 12 litter flush toilet, countertops,....

The hotel is a very economical choice, the price is very affordable for Fredericton. The beds in our room were new and very comfortable. I was not impressed at all. The breakfast was not very appetizing. Dishes and or cutlery was set out near the floor on a low table. Room layout was odd. Wall sconces were located above the bed headboard so you will hit your head.
The hotel was fine for a one night stay. Did not take advantage of the pools (indoor and outdoor). Breakfast provided was disappointing. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. No elevator to second floor. Had to lug suitcases up stairs. Probably stay again but only has a layover not an extended stay.
I was very disappointed. I am disabled but my room was on the second floor and there are no elevators. In addition I asked for a bench for the shower but the staff we're not able to provide that for me.

As soon as I opened the door, I turned around and apologized to everyone I was staying with for booking this hotel. The first thing you notice is the old musty smell when you get in your room. then you turn on the dim lights and can see that this hotel has not aged well. It must have been a former motel, because our window was a window to the hallway which must have been added at some point.... more
our stay was very good, but we expected a better continental breadfast. A bigger variety of breadfast items.
They had a nice suite with 2 rooms with 3 beds for our family of 5. The kids had fun in the pool and the room was clean.

Like the pool
The room was nice and clean!!
Would definitely stay there again
Easy to find, big parking lot
Bathroom and water was great
Great for the family
Breakfast was decent
Internet sucked; went on and off
Close to expressway but far from downtown. Close to many restaurant and food places. The pools, sauna, and hot tub worked great. Looks a little aged however was clean. Nice bathroom and comfy room and bed.
We thoroughly enjoyed our night at the Howard Johnson's Plaza Hotel. The bed was so comfortable and the room was very quiet. We enjoyed a swim in the pool before retiring to our room for the night. I had read so many bad reviews on this hotel that I was a little hesitant, bu the location was the key factor. Very poor service. Almost no staff. Pool very old.really run down hotel. We were staying only for one night so it was ok. The morning g breakfest was extremely poor. It seems that they have run across to Tim's and brought some Tim bits and bread from the grocery store etcc
Does not recommended for families
this is a very old and tired hotel. room was musty, furniture water stained and uncomfortable. If i hasn't been tired and the hour late i would have looked for another hotel
It still smelled like cigarettes in the hall way even though I asked for a no smoking room. Sure the breakfast was complimentary, but the options were terrible. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Rooms were good size for what they cost.
The hotel smells musty. There were vending machine leaking water. The breakfast room is disgusting ( to say the least). One of the worst hotel experiences we have ever had. I think this has turned me off the chain for good.
I can honestly say that I have never visited a hotel where we were treated so warmly and welcomingly. I visited New Brunswick to visit some family and stopped by this hotel on my way. the check in was okay but I was not happy about room location down a twisting hallway to a second floor with no elevator. A staff member did help carry our luggage in. The halls are dirty and need a makeover, the bed room was wonderfully clean and comfortable. The eating area was also in need of a makeover. The staff were golden so friendly and helpful. Lots of restaurants close by to go to.
The location of the hotel is very good. The hotel entrance are not locked, feels bit unsafe and also lot of smoke smell.
hotel really needs a little TLC and lots of paint. Beds very comfortable. Dining area could use some tlc and new toasters..... Walking into the room and seeing black marks all over the walls took away from what could have been a very nice first impression. A little bit of paint would have made a huge difference. Bathroom was clean and comfortable.
In renovation: room comfortable : could hear neighboring room.
The room was supposed to have a balcony but there wasn't one.
Room was fair for the price paid. Great service; staff is polite and give good service.
breakfast was excellent. remodeled bathroom was nice pool looked inviting
I been staying in this hotel once every year and the price a good. However, the condition of the hotel is degrading with time and they don't seems to upgrade this establishment. They could at least provide things such as paper, pen in the rooms.
Two nights out of six the housekeeper din't enter and clean our room. When we returned the first night I went to inform the front desk attendant who was very apologetic. She gave me clean towels. The hotel manager was there as well. He gave me packets of coffee but said nothing. The second time my wife went to the front desk. Again the front desk attendant was very sorry. The Howard Johnson in Fredericton is just like you average hotel really. The linen's on the bed were fantastic and not the usual uncomfortable hotel grade. The room itself was cold and there was no thermostat to adjust. The pool and hot tub were ok, a little small but warm and not overly chlorinated. All in all, it wasn't too bad.
Despite being advertised as, "newly renovated", - this only applied to the lobby. The room was a step back in time - over crowded with useless furniture. The stench was almost unbearable; a cross between smoke and 30 year old must, (it was designated as a non-smoking room) The pool was disgustingly dirty - I'd be surprised if my children didn't contract an infection , not to mention a crowd... more

We stayed here because it was a good place to stop on a long trip. The price was decent but the place was pretty close to being a dump.
