Conveniently located but terrible staff, unclean room, terrible odor and no on site parking. Never again no matter how cheap the price.
averageplace to stay, didnt like parking 2 blocks away close to public tranport small roomexcellent breakfastfriendly staff
hotel staff is very accommodating and warm, location is just what i need, close to the airport and public transportation is very much accessible.
The location made it very easy for us to get in and out of the city and avoid traffic.
Disgusting room, very very small and dirty. Door off hinges. Threated to get stabbed by someone in room next to me.
Hotel was not what I expected. Had to park two blocks away from hotel and pay for parking. Hotel room very small. Rooms where to warm, had to run air conditioning during the night,no way to turn the heat. Street cars where directly behind us and traveled around hotel during the night. Continental breakfast was okay but really didn't offer very much. Will never stay there again
Everyone seems to write poor reviews put we were a party of 4 and thought it was great. We were out of the 'hub bub' but in real Toronto. The access is quick via the street cars and tickets are cheap. There are two easy routes in either via Kings or Queens streets. The lake is just a 5 min walk over the highway and is quiet and really enjoyable. A large park (which we didnt go to) is also very... more
This hotel appeared to have been an older hotel that was remodeled. While it was clean, our room backed on the TTC yard which was very noisy and the actual room was extremely tiny. We booked a room with 2 double beds. The room was so small that there was barely enough clearance to walk to the beds without hitting the wall. The beds were not very comfortable even though the linens were clean.... more
Alot of drunk people staying at this hotel doing party all night. They can knock at your door any time and there is no involvement of hotel staff with such issues. Very small and noisy rooms.
The hotel was hard to identify and there was no on site parking. The room was extremely small! However, it was a very nice location and the hotel staff was extremely helpful. We got what we paid for!
Nice hotel. Was close to transit and clubs. Just wish parking was closer.
This hotel was cheap, and I got what I paid for. When I arrived, the room was clean, but they had forgotten to stock the towels. Otherwise, no issues.
Hotel wasn't very well marked. We were looking for it in the dark and it was drizzling. There was no apparent security, the front door was propped open. This was not a particularly nice neighborhood as noted by the clientele at the Mac Donald's on the corner. There was no parking near the hotel. It was 4 blocks away and we still had to pay $12.00 and there was no apparent security there either.... more
It was dirty, the parking was over 2 blocks away and was not easy to get to places. Neighborhood was a bit ??? Would not go back and would not recommend.
The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was smaller then i thought, but did what i needed. It was perfectly clean. The continental breakfast was good. I would or will stay there again
If you're just looking for a place to rest up, this hotel was wonderful. Its basic but it got the job done and was in a great location. I loved the make your own waffle station for breakfast!
The place reeked of cigarettes even though we had a non smoking room. The ventilation seemed to bring it in. the bathroom had hair that awasn'tours.
It was cold outside but the room was sweltering hot. The air conditioner was broken, and when I asked the front desk to assist me, they refused, and said there is nothing they could do about it. The room was also the size of a shoe box, and the window was not equipped to open or close.
It was alright. Parking was a few blocks away. The bed was fairly comfortable. It's cheap and close to the highway.
The room was disgusting - there were long black hairs everywhere - including in the bed and sink. The bed was disgusting looking, I wouldn't sit on it. My stay was about 45 minutes long because I called to book another hotel and immediately left the building. I stayed at a hotel near the airport and had to commute back to the city the next day so I had to pay double cab fair. I have traveled... more
The staff person spent 15 minutes arguing with me that my credit card had been declined even though 1) I had a receipt that the room was paid in full in advance through Expedia, and 2) the credit card he was saying had been declined was not the credit card he had in his hand. He told me that I would have to handle the issue with Expedia myself. At this point I asked him to double check the name... more
You get what you pay for... Do yourself a favour and pay a lil more
Room decently clean.very hot.have to share frig..staff friendly except the gentleman working days.hard to understand and very abrupt.he told me,that he was general manager.not impressed.was charged for double room, received a single.disputed extra day charge.no satisfaction from any one.no help to carry luggage up or down flight of 20 steps to main floor. Washroom floor was dirty. I can hear people from the other rooms And the towel was not washed properly. Seen a hair before I even used it. Also staff wasn't welcoming.
I enjoyed my stay. I had a comfortable, quiet, good night sleep. When I woke up in the morning I felt rested. Continental breakfast was ok. cereal bagels, waffles, coffee, toast. Nothing fancy, but good. Beds were comfortable. We also, had a tv in our room which the kids loved. Staff was friendly. Room was basic, but clean and comfortable. Parking was affordable for the whole night and close to... more
Good location with good public transport to the city and entertainment areas
We arrive very late to find we had to park 2 blocks away and walk back. This was frustrating at 2a.m. Everything else was fine.
The hotel smelled very bad when we walked in....parking was 4 blocks away....there was no where to park to go in and register and the street cars kept us up all night....not the greatest neighbourhood....and the room was so small with and air conditioner that didn't work properly
easy access and close to exhibition center, breakfast is simple.
sink drains were plugged with....scum. Good location tho to the street cars! They're right there beside you as is a McDonalds
the room we got was small, but clean. i like location's convenience, as well.
Only one room left a small bunk bed in the old smoking section. Seemed clean enough, no mr coffee in room, complementary breakfast was reasonable, they wont let you bring coffee back up to room which is a bit odd. Parking $12 which is good. If you are looking for a modest unpretentious spot for very little money you could find much worse. But dont take a date there!
Small rooms...bathroom look fairly clean for the most part. The parking lot for the hotel is 3 blocks away. And the worst part is dont expect to sleep at nigh with the loud TTC town carts driving away. I had a very important event to happen the next day of my stay and all I got was 1.5 hours of sleep thanks to them. The location is terrible unless you can sleep through a series of endless... more
The hotel is right by a streetcar turning point which produced screeching noises all night due to the lack of insulation around the air conditioner and missing window ( second pane).
The staff was polite and friendly. I was checked in with no problems. Room was clean and an okay size. No seating area. Just a bed and a desk. A small closet and bathroom. Located right beside McDonalds so don't open your windows. Parking was a 5-10 minute walk and cost $12.
The room had a musty smell and the bedding felt damp. The carpet looked like it had not been vacuumed in ages. Also, I was harassed by several homeless/mentally I'll people at the front doors of the hotel. I definitely will not being staying here again.
When I booked the room I didn't know the area. Unfortunately there is a street car station behind the hotel. So it was noisy as our room faced the street. For a double bed it was kinda small. Also there was no on site parking. The room was clean. The staff friendly.
We chose a cheaper hotel for our weekend in TO, because we wanted to spend out money on dining, drinking, and shopping (TO has some excellent restaurants and bars, but restaurants prices and taxes are very high!) The Hojo was cheap (rooms are tiny; no elevator; hotel is next to the streetcar tracks, so it's loud throughout the night), and the rooms, had which all of the amenities needed for a... more
The rooms were so tiny and absolutely disgusting. The bathroom floors haven't been washed in years. The maids just walked in our room an hour after we checked in. Hotel manager was very rude. The area has very limited things to see or do surrounding it with very little restaurants aside from fast food.
It was a horrible hotel. I will never, ever go there again.
The hotel really needs updating. The staff are friendly. The room was clean. The location was perfect.
I choose this hotel purely based on the location as it was very close to the st Joseph health centre. Would I recommend it, no! The room was ok, I booked a room with king...and got a king but also had a cot there, not sure how long it was left there. The carpets were stained, I wore my shoes the entire time and walls and am shades were stained. The lamps were with corrosion of some sort. There... more
Rooms is very small, double bed has seen better days, no room to move around the bed. There is no on-site parking, hotel next to tram station, could not sleep with all the noise all night. Breakfast was a disaster, power kept on tripping. I will never stay there again!!!
My family and I had to fly into Toronto on very short notice and under difficult circumstances. The location was as close as we could find to where we needed to be. The hotel manager and night clerk were extremely sympathetic to our situation, and accommodated us in many ways. For example, they allowed us to park very close to the front door, and they allowed us an open departure date. We were... more
the hotel staff were friendly, the room was clean. my girlfriend and i booked this hotel cause we were planning to go see a concert at the molson ampitheatre and it was one of the cheapest around that area. we got a smoking room since we both smoked, the only problem was that the one window in our small room didnt open which meant that air didnt circulate to well and it got quite stuffy after a... more
Had to pay an extra $12 for parking 2 blocks away. They scared us when they said our car was towed but it was someone else`s car. Paid an extra $50 for checking in !!!!!!!!! The mattress kept slipping off the bed frame when we sat to watch tv and whenever we rolled over. We would strongly discourage anyone from renting a room from this Hotel.
Gave us a smoking room, even though we booked non smoking. Entire floor reeked of smoke. Room small & cramped. Burn marks and holes in comforter. Parking off sie and had to pay for overnight parking. No elevator. Trolley hub right outside room, very noisy.
Very comfortable and economical stay not far from downtown; nice walk to lake
The entire hotel smelled like bleach and the floor in the room was sticky. A major street car depot behind the hotel provided us with the screeching wheels of street cars turning during most of the stay. The room was not representative of the promo photos which we looked at when booking. There was no parking, at the hotel and we had to park 3 blocks away. Never again.
Well we showed up very late, went to the desk and was greeted by the worker who was nice and pleasant , he gave is our cards and told us where to go, we Opened the door to see some cloths on the ground, we started talking and said " looks like the room is in use " at that moment the washroom Door opened and a guy taking a poop. looked at us, was awkward. We went to the desk and they gave us a... more
Well I know this hotel and it is not recommended to stay here.1st of all it is in Parkdale one of the worst areas to goto. The rooms are very cold and drafty and some of the people where a@!%!**s so recommended DONT STAY HERE
We stayed there for just one night - but that was enough. We already payed the full rate for the romm and as we arrived they charged $50 on our credit card on hold. For what? We were told that this is for case of any damage or telephone calls we may do. They didn´t helped us a lot for finding the right street car to downtown, etc. We had to pay $12 for the parking lot. They did not mention,... more
I arrived in the hotel at about 1 am. The train still undergoing and it was very noisy as we sleep near that. No lift to go up to 2nd floor. The baggage will let you feel crazy. I don't know is it all air-conditioners was so noisy. No thing let me live in this hotel next time!
This hotel was great value. I paid right around $100 for a double occupancy single room. The rooms were on the small side, but half the price of what I expected to pay in Toronto. Breakfast was included and totally great - a waffle iron to make your own fresh waffles, fresh brewed coffee, orange juice, bagels with cream cheese. We also had to park about three blocks away in a lot that charges... more
Absolutely DISGUSTING! And worst of all Bedbugs
I checked in after 6 PM so they charged the full stay to my credit card, went up to the room, pulled the sheets back and immediately found bedbugs. I took a dead one down to the front desk and asked for a refund, the guy behind the desk just kept saying "No refund, bug is dead..no refund, bug is dead". Worst hotel I've ever been to by far.
This hotel was just right. I wanted a place that was. Close to Chinatown and this was it. Staff kept things tidy and in order. Simple and clean.
The staff were helpful and friendly. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean but drab and in need of redecorating. The continental breakfast was more than adequate. Good view from room over Lake Ontario.
loud, noisy, unfriendly staff (with the exception of the lady at the breakfast), would not stay there again
This HoJo is in a bad part of town, I actually had a cab driver tell me not to go outside at night because of drugs and crime. Good to know. Also, rooms extremely small, like can't get your suitcase to the bed because there is a desk in the way small. Not very clean smelling, no bed bugs though. The light rail trains are going all night outside the window though, so very noisy. Overall, cheap... more
Got this room at an ok price considering if was TIFF time...but room smelled like stinky feet, wasn't ready for check in at 3PM! Also, no parking, had to park my car in an open public lot down the road and go down at 7am to put more money in the machine. Terrible experience. Me and my friend were searching for someplace close to the concert we were going to that night. First impression, its in a very sketchy part of town. Old hotel falling apart, Things break on its own (for me, the faucet) but you get blamed and charged for it. Towels are dirty, room is cold with no heat control, the safe doesn't work. Extremely noisy at all times. Very unprofessional and non courteous staff. Imposing fees and parking fees that when you reserve are mentioned. King size bedroom was really a smaller version of a double bed room. Required a$50 "SAFETY and SECURITY " deposit fee and parking is about 3 blocks away
The Hotel was 15 minutes from where I needed to be, each day. The Hotel manager was extremely helpful with directions and traffic avoidance issues!
The only positive thing that I can say about this hotel is it easy to get to Exhibition Place from the hotel. The continental breakfast included dried out bagels, cereal and warm milk. The hotel is located right in front of the street car terminal that runs all night long. The convenient parking that is located a couple of blocks away is cheap to park at but you must get up at 6 am to feed the... more

I made a package reservation to attend SIAL EXPO,Toronto, because the price is cheap and Howard Johnson "Lakeshore". But the outcome was so bad. Hotel was not bad, as feedbacks tell... This hotel is not a bed bug "heaven", but there is some, very few of them. Overall, if you plan to spend less money, so Hojo is the best place to stay for couple nights.
The room was very small and it smealt very bad. My room was never cleaned by a cleaning lady. There was no parking for customer staying at the hotel unless you paid them $15.00 per day. There was no elevator in the hotel. You could not control the heat in the room you actually had to go downstairs to the front desk and ask for heat. The staff turned off our heat during the middle of the night... more
The rooms are a little small for sure but it's very legitimate in comparison to a hostel's rooms because you have your own bathroom. The TV has cable, the WiFi connexion is just incredible (so fast and reliable!) and the rooms were clean. The only thing is that they really weren't friendly when we checked out; they asked us to pay an extra 20$ because we left 10 mins too late. I couldn't tell... more
After reading reviews on this hotel, I was expecting a bad experience and dirty rooms. The rooms were quite clean, and very spacious, including a couch with a pull out bed. The breakfast wasn't very good, but luckily there was a McDonald's next door. I would stay here again.
the hotel wasnt that bad,it was the parking that is terrible.you have to walk 2 blocks away and it kinda scary when you park late night.
Where do I start? First the "receptionist" told me that I had to give her $50 cash as a deposit in addition to the money paid for it. I said no. She that EVERY HOTEL requires that. I told her that the Hyatt downtown didnt require it. Then she said that the company couldn't call in a credit card to do the deposit on. Finally she allowed me to give her my DL to get in the room. The hallway stank... more
Stayed there while looking for an apt. No frills and no drama. If you need a cheap, clean place to stay, this is it.
Relatively inexpensive though the room is too small. Worked for me as I traveled alone.
The rooms in this hotel are incredibly small, but decently kept. Getting luggage in and out was a major issue, as there is no elevator and no parking within at least a full block of the building (not even an 'unloading zone'). The website is misleading in that there are not microwaves or refrigerators in the rooms (there is only a dorm-sized microwave and fridge in the lobby for common use!).... more
Parkdale is a nice location, but the specific location of the hotel is not. Parking is two blocks away and costs $12 per night. The hotel is right above a streetcar depot and the windows do not block noise. The streetcars in Toronto run 24/7. Additionally the hotel is across the street from a bar and practically above a McDonalds. If you're looking for convenience, it is convenient, but if... more
Hotel was what you'd expect from the cheapest hotel room in Toronto. Room was dirty, but not unbearable. Walls were paper thin, and there was a serious domestic dispute going on. Also the street cars park right behind the hotel, so if you're a light sleeper (I'm not), the room could very well be intolerable. On the plus side, the staff was totally cool and very nice. In fact during the... more
Stayed on first floor with king bed. Was fairly quiet, clean, and comfortable. Nothing fancy. No refrig or micro in room, minimal contin breakfast. Nice location across from lakefront park, convenience stores, trolly stop. Easy access to downtown. Parking lot is a little walk to get to. Would return too again.
The room is very small not the same in the photo. In the hotel web says free hot breakfast but there is only coffee and bread which are hot.The staff forgot to give facial tissue in the room and we asked for it at the reception but he told us to get it at his reception desk.( was it our fault? )
The service was good. The price was right. The rooms are very small. The parking situation leaves something to be desired. There is no actual Howard Johnson's parking lot. We ended up parking at a Hospital near by and spending $30 on parking from 4pm till 11am the next day. Overall we had a decent experience. For the price it seemed to be a decent value. We would have to find a better parking... more
Ripped fly screens and window onto the street meant that we could not get fresh air and air cond was noisy. The room was cozy. There was no elevator. There was a fire on July 1 after midnight, which caused the entranceway to be smoky. The best thing about that hotel was that there was free breakfast.
The hotel building looks awful, but inside is really nice. I used to live at the first floor double nonsmoking room with 2 queen beds. The room was nice and big. Guests say the room at 2nd or 3rd floor not as nice. Please book room at the 1st floor. They are nice.
public transportation near hotel's door, close to lake. there wasn't a lot of variety in breakfast choices.
The room smelled terrible which I had not noticed when I initially checked in. It was not until after spending the day out on town when I returned that I noticed how horrible the smell which came from the room that reeked into the corridor. There was no elevator and you have to carry your luggage by urself to the upper stairs. There is no minibar. When arrived the safe box was not working and they fixed it to me the next day.Parking is not free.
Our stay at this hotel was very pleasant. The rooms are a little bit small but it was very clean, the breakfast was various and good and the location is really good (close to Trams which you can take into Toronto). The parking is not for free which was a little bit a disadvantage but it was not bad. Altogether the stay at this hotel was really nice and priceworthy.
In general was good excaept the sentence about parking charge was NOT clear at all at Orbitz website. It stated: available parking. Which was understood as free parking at site. There was No mention for the $10/day fee at all or the 1 bloack distance.
the street car is accesible; and buses, my main concern was climbing three flight of stairs. And breakfast was served across the street, not on premises.
Although the room was small and backed onto the TTC streetcar yard, it was comfortable and clean The convenience of this location at the western city boundary -- Roncasvalles /Queen W. is ideal for city-goers wanting an economic place to lay your head for the evening
The Days Inn - Toronto West Lakeshore Was a nice place and fairly inexpensive place. The rooms were cramped esp if you have lots of Luggage but I needed a room to relax in so I didn't complain. The free breakfast was good cooked to order. If i am in Toronto again, I will stay here again.
1. This hotel if far away from the Pearson airport -- inconvenient to get there unless driving, otherwise taxi charge is about $45, no easy public transportation; 2. inconvenient to carry luggage -- no elevator available; 3. big noise during the evening -- if the room is near the street side; 4. the room is too small. 5. the receiption desk is quite helpful, though.
