good size room and pretty quiet
We booked 2 adjoining rooms for us and our teens. The staff was very friendly and helpful - when kids accidentally locked themselves out of their room, maintenance took care of it within minutes. The kids loved the pool. We found the pool and whirlpool a little chaotic because others weren't supervising their younger kids, but that's not the fault of the hotel... Hotel was in walking distance... more
Hot tub was so hot it would burn you. Pool was ice cold. 2 elevaters were broken. Trying to get down stairs with 3 little kids was not easy
We are a family of 5 and had requested a roll away bed. When we arrived they informed us that they upgraded our room to a pull out couch room. My daughter loved having a big bed to herself. We also had a fridge and microwave which was very handy! We also noticed the extra coffee, and tea, as well as extra soaps and shampoos and towels!!! We felt very pampered! They really prepared the room for... more
Good location, good price Staff was friendly Pool was ok
This hotel shows as pet friendly, on their website ahows pet friendly, shows fee of $30/night. I called and confirmed they are pet friendly. I arrived at the hotel after driving 8 hours to find out that they have a 25lbs limit and only take small dogs, when i even specifically put in the notes that I had a medium sized dog. They said I couldn't stay and that they couldn't make an exception and... more
That was great, the hotel is really close to the falls. You don't need the car to go to the main attractions. It doesn't have a cafeteria but there are several restaurants very close (Denny's is just in front of the hotel).
Close to the falls, Clifton Hill attractions and the casino, we were able to park our car for the weekend and walk to everything.
Nice clean hotel, great staff. good price. close to attractions.
The hotel was fine but would it kill them to have coffee bar in the lobt? The room coffee passed as ok instant coffee. There is no way a coffee bar with decaf. and Reg. Coffee with 3 to 4 different creamers and a few packets of hot cchocolate would break their budget and it would go a long way to making their guest happyer.
The hojo is a decent hotel. It provides all of the essentials. Also, its located next to the falls and all of the attractions, which is convienient. Parking costs $10 a day, exceptionally cheap compared to other places. Tip: Bring your own pillows. I personally found the hotels' pillows to be uncomfortable.
Booked through expedia.................. Front desk clerk remarked about our good room rate. Front desk was having issues with computers on check in - frustrating for them, had to come back down to desk as card key didn't work. Those were the only glitches. Good value for the money. We did Niagara Wine Tour - awesome full day with 4 wineries and layover in Niagara-on-the Lake. Parking was about... more
Everything is good with the Hotel the only issue I found was the pillows are so hard . The rest is ok
Room did not get cleaned one day but the staff was nice and the parking during the week we were charged was higher than posted on the sign out front, it should have been adjusted
Even though the hotel isn't brand new, it was still very comfortable, clean and the staff was very helpful.
Can't complain given how little we paid! While this hotel isn't a 5 star, it was pleasant enough to stay 3 nights to enjoy our time in Niagara falls. It's obviously an older hotel in need of some modern updating, but it's simple and kept clean. Their proximity to restaurants and attractions if great!
I ask to change the room but was told there no rooms available. The reason was loud noise in the hallway bet 11 pm and 3 am on sept 25.
water stains on ceiling and wallpaper peeling.Decor need updating.the mattress was probably the most uncomfortable mattress i've ever sleeped on (probably the original mattress from when it opened).
Good Location for Niagara Falls. Not much else is in its favour.
Very nice hotel close to everything. However, the elevator to 7th floor is out of service. We have kid with stroller and a lot of luggage. Thus, it is not convenient. The air conditioner is very much noisy. Generally, it is a good choice with nice price.
Fantastic staff surprised us with a gift certificate to the neighboring Denny's after we mentioned it was our first get away without kids in years, and in celebration of our anniversary! Although the bathroom was a little dated, the room was very nice and extremely convenient!
I would recommend a room away from the front of the hotel next time, as it was quite noisy until about 1:30am, but otherwise it was a great stay. Beds were very comfy!
Though its a short stay we found the room quite comforting.
Was disappointed that room shown in picture on Expedia website was not what our room looked like. I went to Niagara Falls with my wife for a romantic weekend before she left for 5 weeks of travel to visit family overseas. From Expedia website room reserved was shown as having a heart shape jetted tub in room with mirror next to tub and near bed. There was no heart shaped tub in our room, and... more
It was an ok hotel not a dive but not fabulous. Pool was not cold. Express checkout did not work.
The room was big, but the bed could have been more comfortable. Could have used more towels.
had a good stay. the hotel is close to everything by the falls. ill we did was park the car and walk. my only disappointment was having to pay to park my car at the hotel. this is just like a cash grab. you have to park somewhere don't you. this cost should be part of your room costs.
Easy to locate. Central to almost every place. The staff were informed and friendly. Everything was explained well. The Toronto Star was free in the morning. The pool hours are good. We did not like to have to pay extra for parking and having a breakfast provided would have made the trip better.
Close to shopping and the falls Helpful and friendly staff We really enjoyed our stay
The hotel is close to everything. Restaurants, stores, casino & Niagara Falls.
We would for sure come back! Staff were so friendly with kids. Not a far walk to the falls. Close to everything. Kids loved the pool and the slide.
Expected a little more considering the cost, but I guess being a two star it was ok!
This is the first hotel I stayed that charged a deposit for incidental damage! The room smell when first walk in. I have to turn on the ac for a long time for the smell to go away. The pillow is way too high. The mattress is okay. The pool water is muddy maybe because i went during late evening. The whirlpool pool burns your eye after sitting in for a min.
Not bad overall room layout was a unusal staff did not clean our room once during our stay and when checking out front desk clerk was short with us and people over the phone she was talking too
Room was clean and a good size. Staff were friendly. Pool was nice with the inside and outside attached so you could swim between them
It needs some updating and the mattresses are old. Carpeting needs to be changed. The hotel is walking distance to clifton hill and the American falls.
They took a queen size board, threw it on a double mattress and called it queen size. Who does that?
Booked this hotel for me and my 2 sons. It was in a great location, about a block to Clifton hill. Only took about 15 minutes to walk to the falls. The staff was courteous and helpful. The room was exactly as shown online. Mattresses could have been softer. The pool was a little chilly, and the slide was much smaller than anticipated. There was a 90 lb weight limit. The restaurants in the hotel... more
I was pleased with the overall cleanliness and atmosphere of the Hotel. I also liked the convenience of the many nearby places to eat.
I have been coming to this hotel for many years now --at least once, often twice. Always have a room with a balcony as I love to stand out there and look at the sights. Beautiful view of both Casinos,m Tower, Wheel and all the lights and people. Very convenient location for walking to the falls, restaurants, shopping and just having fun!! I love it and will keep coming back!!
My wife, 10lbs Yorkie Katie and I had a wonderful stay. Awesome location and walking distance to everything. We highly recommend buying the pass that lets you into 4 major attractions and comes with WeGo for two days. Plenty of place to eat and all affordable. Housekeeping was great and didn't complain about Katie's barking which was most important too us as Katie gets worked up when strangers... more
Hotel was good for the price, nothing fancy, old decor, a bit smelly but one of the better ones that's pet friendly.
We entered a hotel that took us back to the seventies. The staff were excellent. The hotel had ripped lobby seats, holes in the bed blankets and torn bed sheets. The room air conditioners only got colder if all the lights in the room were out. The pool and Whirlpool were scummy. This hotel needs a major renovation from top to bottom. If not for the staff and the location this hotel would be... more

Staff was very friendly and efficient. Our room was clean and well maintained. It was an easy walk to main attractions and the bus stop was right on the corner. The second floor was for guests with pets.
overall clean and room was large. our request to have the 4 rooms near to each other was met. staff was friendly. hotel was within walking distance to main street and there a few Chinese restaurants nearby within walking distance. we can also view the skywheel from our hotel room
Stayed here with my two adult children ( aged 19 and 21) . A little dated in decor but was clean and staff were friendly. We liked the fact that the hotel was a five minute walk away from amusements. I would recommend this hotel.
Overall we enjoyed staying at the Howard Johnson. The rooms are well appointed and clean. The one disappointment is that there is not even a basic breakfast or a voucher to cover breakfast provided. The... more
Reasonably priced, CLEAN, great staff, pool, close to the hill and it is very quiet. THIS HOTEL NEED SOME UPDATE. It's WAS PRETTY CLEAN AND THE RECEPTIONIST WERE GREAT. They need security on weekends it was very noisy on the weekend. I don't recommended it. Also the rooms need a microwave a small refrigerator.
We stayed 2 nights over Victoria Day weekend. The hotel was full. We were given a free upgrade to a heart shaped Jacuzzi room. Place was clean, quiet and there were plenty of nice towels. We have stayed at this HOJO's By The Falls several times and love it. The reception is awesome and very accommodating. THe only thing is the balcony rooms are in need of a bit of upgrading, and some still smell of smoke.
Hotel was clean and conveniently located, not far from Clifton Hill amusement area and between the 2 casinos. Not too far from the falls also.
Our room was quiet enough and clean and extra towels and coffe supplies were provided upon request. Our dresser drawers were coming apart, but we managed. We were surprised to find out at check in...

Although this place hasn't been redecorated since 1963, it has been cleaned. The cleanliness level was a ten. The TV was a vintage SD viewing experience. Limited channels. I booked online with Expedia & didn't expect much. Now I have to say the $10 parking fee is ridiculous, you get a parking pass that should be the end of it. This hotel is perfect for those on a budget who want to be close to the falls and entertainment. Our first night was a Saturday and it was busy! The exercise room wasn't great, but who wants to exercise when you are on vacation, have break.
Staff courteous, followup on any concerns done immediately, rooms clean great location will visit again.
I chose this hotel for it's proximity to everything and the price.

The accommodations were ok. With the nearby restaurants very expensive, a simple continental breakfast would be a big plus, but then Denny's wouldn't be too pleased with that. The whirlpool jets didn't work, and the shower lacked a curtain. These serious problems could be easily addressed with a little attention.
I really enjoyed my stay here. The location was just perfect to reach all kinds of attractions, and the rates were very reasonable. This HoJo is a short walk from all the Niagara Falls attractions...but that doesn't matter since the bus stops outside the hotel!! It was clean, the sheets smelled great, and it is in the heart of all the Niagara fun.Parking was an extra $9 a night, but WiFi was free. You pay so much less just to be a block away from the main drag, it is so worth it.
We stayed here for two nights and overall it was a comfortable experience. Parking was easy, though there is a charge, and the hotel was walking distance to all the major attractions. The only real complaint was the wifi. It is very slow and spotty. I had some work to do while away, and the wifi made it painfully difficult. Otherwise, though, a good hotel with helpful staff.

The staff was very friendly & accomidating. The hotel claimed to be 1 block from falls but it was at least three blocks from a fall view.
My wife and my Mother-in-law were with me. My Mother-in-law is handicapped and travels with her toy poodle. The staff was very accommodating to our special needs and very pleasant at all times. The rooms were very spacious and the beds were very comfortable. We would stay there again if we go back.
We had a great time Howard Johnson was clean and in the prime location within walking distance to everything definately staying here again on our next trip to the falls
“Fantastic value for what we spent. Would most definitely stay here again!”
The hotel is in a great location at the top of Clifton Hill. Plenty of restaurants in walking distance and other things to do. The Hotel is in good condition and the front desk associates are nice. The HUGE problem we had was with the pool. We were looking for a good deal with a pool for our kids. The pool was the coldest I have EVER been in! The pool was kept at 58-60 degrees. They have a... more
This hotel was advertised as being a block from Niagara Falls, but that block was approximately a 15-20 minute walk, which included a very steep hill on your return to the hotel. That should be noted, also it was advertised that you could take the hotel shuttle to the Falls and other attractions but the ad never said there was an almost $8.00 per person charge. In every other hotel I have... more
The room was horrible, the bathroom was very small, no fridge or microwave in the room, the mattress was uncomfortable. Dirty carpet.
we did a little site seeing, played in the arcades, visited some of the museums, and went out for dinner and breakfast...location of the hotel was excellent, just minutes from everything..... more
We had a great vacation. The staff was friendly and hepfull.
“I liked it. great location. clean. should have had breakfast offered. should not have had to pay for parking. Nice and friendly staff who were responsive. Comfortable room. Air conditioner could have worked better.”
“The hotel lobby was inviting, however, the hotel itself sorely needs updating. There were cigarette burns in the carpet and a not-so-pleasant smell to the room. We stayed in the same hotel 17 years prior and not a thing (except the updated lobby) has changed, including the red one piece tub unit. Give the rooms a facelift.”
“Disappointed with this hotel, will not stay at this location again.”
Was not so much that the hotel was a not a nice place in its self to stay. Staff was not knowledgeable of area, and not friendly.
The Howard Johnson at Niagara Falls was about what I expected for the rate. This is an older hotel and could use a little remodeling. The beds were comfortable and we had a balcony with a sliding door we could open. However this was not offered at the original rate. The staff at this hotel was wonderful. I found everyone to be very eager to please. We had a problem with our tv and... more
Convenient to local attractions walking distance to most.
“The hotel in general is okay for the money....it could use a little more care in cleaning and things like that. I didn't think the pool was appealing at all. It was supposed to be heated it was not. It was supposed to have a waterslide. It does but sign says it will be out of service and they don't know when it will be functional again. The worst thing I have ever seen is having to pay for... more
“Our stay was ok. I would not recommend it for anyone who planned on being in their room for most of their stay. Our bathroom was dirty which made us question the cleanliness of the rest of the room. We were not as close to the casino as we had anticipated but the distance was not so far that we couldn't walk there. The cost was a bit more than I wanted to spend but I also believe the whole... more
